By Fisher White & Amber Chatman “My 14 karat gold charm that my family has had for almost 100 years.” Jaden Saenz, 5th By Shay Morgan Match the Word with the Picture Hat Gold Shamrock Rainbow Leprechaun Flag St. Patrick was a slave. At the age of 16 he was kidnapped and sold as a slave by Irish raiders. St. Patrick wasn't Irish, and he wasn't born in Ireland. Patrick’s parents were Roman citizens living in modern day England. The original color associated with St. Patrick is blue, not green as commonly believed. Years later the color was switched to green because of the greenness of the countryside. Your odds of finding a four–leaf clover are about 1 in 10,000. There are more Irish in the USA than Ireland... about 34 million Americans have Irish ancestry, but there are only about 4.2 million people living in Ireland.
