Helping Hands members wish to extend our heartfelt
thanks to OLL Parishioners and OLL students for your
remarkable response to the 2014 Christmas Outreach.
We exceeded our goal in donations this year, enabling us
to provide 97 families with gifts for the “body and soul”,
and joy in knowing OLL cares about them.
As families received their gift cards, they also received a
festive plate of cookies prepared by Helping Hands
members, and were given an ornament depicting the Annunciation, and a coloring book, The Story of Christmas
(El Cuento de Navidad) donated by our St. Vincent de
Paul Conference.
Helping Hands is most grateful for your overwhelming
generosity. We could not do this without all of you.
May God send you all blessings, happiness, and peace in
the New Year.

his image.
Several thousand years after the flood, when God made the rainbow shine
forth as a sign of the covenant.
Twenty-one centuries from the time of Abraham and Sarah; thirteen centuries
after Moses led the people of Israel out of Egypt.
Eleven hundred years from the time of Ruth and the Judges; one thousand
years from the anointing of David as king; in the sixty-fifth week according to
the prophecy of Daniel.
In the one hundred and ninety fourth Olympiad; the seven hundred and fifty
second year from the foundation of the city of Rome.
The forty-second year of the reign of Octavian Augustus; the whole world being at peace, Jesus Christ, eternal God and Son of the eternal Father, desiring

Thursday, January 15: OLL Youth Ministry resumes in the convent, 7-8:30pm. All high school-aged teens are welcome.
OLL YOUTH MINISTY Walks For Life! J oin us at the 11th annual Walk For Life West Coast on January 24. All High School
teens are welcome to join us and complete their Confirmation Service Hours for this year by adding their presence to a bold, prayerful and peaceful demonstration through the streets of San Francisco. Cost is $15/bus seat. Middle school students are also welcome,
if accompanied by an adult. Call Erin at the rectory for more information.
Pastor’s Letter
Dear Friends,
Today we celebrate the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord, the conclusion of the Church’s
Christmas Season. Monday begins Ordinary Time which takes us up to February 18th, Ash
Wednesday, the beginning of our Lenten Season. Today at my Masses, we will have the Renewal
of our Baptismal Promises, followed by the Sprinkling Rite. This is one of three times I do this at
Sunday Mass. The other times are Easter and Pentecost.
With Christmas now over, it’s time for some much needed thank you's: thank you to Patrick, Sister Jeanette, and the Altar Society for decorating the Church. The Church looked beautiful! A big thank you to
Rich and the Choir for the great music. The Parish Christmas Concert you had on December 21st, plus the music at the
Christmas Masses, was second to none. Thank you to the Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers, Altar Servers, Greeters and
Ushers. A special shout out to the Knights of Columbus who ushered the 5 o’clock Christmas Eve Masses in the Church
and Hall. Both places were packed and the Knights provided much needed direction.
Lastly in the thank you department, I want to thank you, the parishioners of OLL, for your very generous support. The Christmas Collection amounted to over $35,000. I keep saying it, and I hope you believe it: “You are the best!”
I have asked Annie from our Youth Ministry Program to speak at all Masses today. Annie is a wife and mother
of 3 boys, 2 of them who go to our school. Annie will be talking about Pro Life Issues as well as the West Coast Walk
for Life in San Francisco on Saturday, January 24. We are a Pro Life People. We are a Pro Life Church. The least we
can do as a parish is to have a talk like this once a year. Thank you, Annie, for saying “yes” in giving this talk.
I’ve saved the best for last. As some of you know, Father Neil Healy of St. Anselm’s will be retiring here come
the end of January. For you old timers, Father Neil was here in the 80’s with Father (now Bishop) Tom Daly. I’ve heard
many a story about the two of them and Monsignor Keane. Maybe that’s one reason why Monsignor lost all his hair?
Anyway, I’m delighted to have Father Neil on board and to have him once again a part of OLL.

Hoy celebramos la fiesta del Bautismo del Señor, la conclusión de la temporada de Navidad de la Iglesia. Lunes comienza el Tiempo
Ordinario que nos ocupa al 18 de febrero, Miércoles de Ceniza, el comienzo de nuestra Cuaresma. Hoy a mis misas, tendremos la
Renovación de las promesas bautismales, seguido por el Rito de Aspersión. Esta es una de las tres veces que hago esto en la misa
dominical. Las otras veces son Pascua y Pentecostés.
Con la Navidad ha terminado, es hora de que algunos muy necesaria agradecimiento de: Muchas gracias a Patrick, la hermana Jeanette, y la Sociedad del Altar para la decoración de la Iglesia. La Iglesia se veía hermosa! Un gran agradecimiento a Rich y el Coro de
la buena música. El concierto de la Parroquia de Navidad que tenía el 21 de diciembre, además de la música en las Misas de Navidad, era insuperable. Gracias a los Lectores, Ministros de la Eucaristía, Monaguillos, saludadores y acomodadores. Un especial
agradecimiento a los Caballeros de Colón, que marcó el comienzo de las cinco misas de Nochebuena en la Iglesia y Hall. Ambos
lugares estaban llenos y los Caballeros proporcionaron mucha dirección necesaria.
Por último en el departamento de agradecimiento, quiero darle las gracias, los feligreses de la LOT, por su generoso apoyo. La colección de la Navidad asciende a más de $ 35.000. Sigo diciendo que, y espero que usted lo cree: "¡Tú eres el mejor"
He pedido a Annie de nuestro Programa de Pastoral Juvenil de hablar en todas las misas de hoy. Annie es una esposa y madre de 3
hijos, 2 de ellos que van a la escuela. Annie estará hablando sobre Cuestiones de Vida Pro, así como el Paseo de la Costa Oeste por
la Vida en San Francisco el sábado, 24 de enero Somos una Vida Pro Personas. Somos una Iglesia Vida Pro. Lo menos que podemos
hacer como parroquia ha de tener una charla como esto una vez al año. Gracias, Annie, para decir "sí" al dar esta charla.
He guardado lo mejor para el final. Como algunos de ustedes saben, el padre Neil Healy de San Anselmo de se jubilará aquí vienen a
finales de enero. Para que los viejos contadores de tiempo, el padre Neil estaba aquí en los años 80 con el padre (ahora obispo) Tom
Daly. He oído muchas historias sobre los dos de ellos y Monseñor Keane. Tal vez esa es una razón por Monseñor perdió todo su cabello? De todos modos, estoy encantado de tener padre Neil a bordo y de tenerlo una vez más una parte de la LOT.
