Nicene Creed
I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and
earth, of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord
Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father
before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God
from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the
Father; through him all things were made; For us men and for
our salvation he came down from heaven,
(all bow) and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin
Mary, and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered
death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in
accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is
seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in
glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have
no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father
and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the
prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.
I confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look
forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world
to come. Amen.

Entrada: Vienen con Alegría
Credo Niceno
María, la Virgen, y se hizo hombre;
mundo futuro. Amén.
Estrofas:
1. Por tu inmensa gloria te alabamos, te bendecimos, te adoramos,
te glorificamos, te damos gracias, Señor. (a Estrofa 2)
2. Señor Dios, Rey celestial, Dios Padre todopoderoso.
Señor Hijo único, Jesucristo, Señor Dios, Cordero de Dios,
tú, el Hijo del Padre. (Estribillo)
3. Tú que quitas el pecado del mundo, ten piedad de nosotros;
(a Estrofa 4)

Death XXV
Money, End of life care, hospitalization, hospice, funerals and burial all cost money. In the search for a low cost alternative people
have made choices that ended up costing more in the long run. Too often out of guilt or shame a family has spent lavishly on a funeral when a simple funeral would have served best. The Catholic Cemeteries are a business, but they also provide low cost and full
service. The casket does not have to be a Cadillac; where finances are an issue a grave or niche can be arranged with the Catholic
Cemetery at little or no cost. Where there is a hardship the Church gladly provides the full funeral again for little or not cost. Taking
care of the dead is a holy task; one of the “works of corporal mercy” and it is our tradition to bury the dead. When my mom died she
had already paid in advance for her niche at the family cemetery in Napa where my whole family is buried from my great grandparents to my parents. She told me she did not want a funeral, but because of my position as pastor my staff said “you have to do something.” I placed her cremains in the niche in Napa, and then we had a Memorial Mass in Concord. It cost me little to do the right
thing; the most expensive thing was the flower arrangement I ordered! Planning in advance for burial or the final disposition of your
cremains is something that can take pressure off your family. One can write down notes about what is wanted, which will guide the
family in preparation. It is not morbid to think ahead.

Sobre la Muerte XXV
Dinero.
adelante.

The sin of the rich man in today’s parable was not that he
was rich, but that he failed to share his wealth with the
beggar at this gate. He knew Lazarus, perhaps walked by
him every time he came in our out, but did nothing to relieve
his suffering. Is there a Lazarus in my life? What am I
doing to help?

Shepherds Field Olive Wood Handcrafts
Sale of Religious Articles from the Holy Land
Saturday, October 12th and Sunday, October 13th
after all Masses.
As a tradition, many of the Catholic families in the Holy Land work
in small workshops to produce religious articles from olive wood.
These articles represent the Christian art of the Holy Land. In the
past, they used to sell their artwork to pilgrims who visit the Holy
Land. However, these days they are facing an economic hardship as
very few tourists visit the Holy Land due to security issues. Many
of the Catholic families immigrated and left the Holy Land. The
percentage of Christians in the Holy Land has dropped to less than
2%. Therefore, if this hardship continues as it is now, we believe
that in a few years, there will be no Catholics in Bethlehem or
Jerusalem. The struggle to preserve the Catholic identity of the
birthplace of our savior; Jesus Christ is a serious concern for
Catholics around the world. Sales will be used to help and support
the Catholics in the Holy Land and to encourage them not to
immigrate.

married, they must be married in the Catholic Church. There
can be NO exceptions to these rules.
