Pentecost Sunday
Sunday, May 15th, 2016
And this week from the office…
“ To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the
heaven…”
(Ecclesiastes 3:1)
As the scripture passage from the Old Testament states, there is a time for everything
under heaven. Our parish has been blessed to have Missionary Sisters Servants of the
Word present in our parish for over a decade. They were invited into the parish back
in 2004 to assist with parish ministry, especially with the Hispanic part of the parish.
Throughout the years they have encouraged so many to deepen their relationship
with God, to learn more about our Catholic faith and Holy Scriptures and to become
active members of the church. This was a time to gather, learn and proclaim the word
of God to all peoples. We are very grateful for the support they have given all of us in
our mission to make more followers of Jesus Christ. Now the time has come to say
farewell to the Missionary Sisters Servants of Word. At the end of this month, their
time in parish ministry at St. Aloysius will be complete. A new time in the parish
community will begin; a time to continue the work they have started in the parish
community, building on the foundation they have established.
We all have good memories about the work they have done in our parish community
and how they have touched our lives. We want to celebrate their ministry, remember
the time we spent together and share experiences. Please join us next Saturday,
May 21st, after the 6:00 p.m. mass, downstairs in the church hall at a gathering to say
goodbye and thank you to Sister Emma and the Missionary Sisters Servants of the
Word for everything they have done for all of us and to wish them continued
blessings in their ministry.
May God continue sending His blessings upon the Missionary Sisters Servants of the
Word for all their generosity and tireless ministry.
“Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation…”
(Mark 16:15)
In Christ,
Fr. Marcos

St. Aloysius Parish
Pentecost Sunday
"And I will ask the Father and he
will
give
you
another
Advocate to be with you always."
Pentecost fulfilled this
promise.
The Holy Spirit came upon the
apostles and nothing was ever the
same again.
This event is often referred to as the
"birthday" of the church. It took
Pentecost--and the power of the
Spirit--to embolden the apostles to
begin their ministry of preaching
and baptizing. Conversions began to happen and the early
church began to grow. And all of this took place without Jesus'
earthly presence among them.
This is one of the most encouraging elements of the practice of
our Christian faith. We believe that through the Holy Spirit,
God dwells within us and empowers us. We believe that even
though we never walked with Jesus and the apostles, we are
nonetheless accompanied by the same Spirit who is always
available to us! We only need to stir up this Spirit within our
souls by praying sincerely, "Come, Holy Spirit!"
The special hymn of today's feast, called the sequence, does just
this. It also expresses well the package of "benefits" that come
from the presence of the Advocate among us: "You, of
comforters the best; You, the soul's most welcome guest; Sweet
refreshment here below; In our labor, rest most sweet; Grateful
coolness in the heat; Solace in the midst of woe." And not only
do we receive these personal blessings, but the Church herself
also receives a tremendous gift. As Jesus said, "The Advocate,
the Holy Spirit... will teach you everything and remind you of
all that I told you." It is only through this divine guidance from
on high that the Church has the power and privilege to teach
and guide us who are still here below.

When was the last time you did something
special alone together?
Most couples are busy with work and family. It seems that
every moment of the day is planned and there’s never enough
time to get everything done. When was the last time you had a
weekend alone? Consider planning a weekend away just the
two of you, to renew your marriage relationship. A Worldwide
Marriage Encounter weekend is a positive, renewing
experience for couples that have a good marriage, but want to
make it even better! The next Worldwide Marriage Encounter
Weekend will be on June 10, 2016 in Medway, MA.

(Marcos 16:15)
Su servidor en Jesucristo,
Padre Marcos
¡Gracias!
