We can recall the great relief and healing after having celebrated the Sacrament of Penance. It was as if Jesus said to us, "Hey, what are you doing walking around with that burden on your shoulders. Let me take it from you." We experienced the power of the sacrament and the awesome mercy of God. In this Year of Mercy, we are placing a lot of attention--and rightfully so--on the Sacrament of Penance also known as, the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Many simply refer to the sacrament as confession. To that end, working with the priests of St. Joseph, St. Margaret and St Paul Parishes, as well as our Jesuit friends, St. Peter the Apostle Parish will host an Afternoon of Mercy in our church on Sunday, March 13th from 2:00-6:00PM. Two bilingual priests will be available at every hour throughout the afternoon. Let's experience the loving mercy of God this Lent by making a good confession. Do you know what the largest nonprofit fund raiser is in the world? It's the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. Every year, more than 5,000 are held in the United States--that's more relays than there are Wal-Marts!--and more than 1,000 in other countries. Starting on April 3rd at Kutztown University, Relays will be held in various parts of Berks County including one in Central Berks, Western Berks, Boyertown and Exeter. I intend to drop by and spend time at Exeter's Relay which will be held on June 11th and 12th. If anyone is interested in going over with me, please let me know. I'd like to introduce you to Relay. Through the Good Friday Collection, you join with Catholics around the world to stand in solidarity with the Church in the Holy Land. When you contribute to the Pontifical Good Friday Collection, you become an instrument of peace in a troubled land. In these challenging times in the Middle East, your support means that our church will conduct parish ministry, provide Catholic education, feed the hungry, build housing for Christians, maintain shrines and operate refugee centers in the Holy Land. Christians, along with all of the clergy and religious who serve in the Holy Land, will deeply appreciate your prayers and financial help! The political, religious and military challenges in the Holy Land are more complex than ever. The wars, unrest and instability have been especially hard on Christians. Our parish will support Christians in the Holy Land through the Good Friday Collection, as requested by Pope Francis. Like Simon of Cyrene, you can help carry the cross under very difficult circumstances in the Holy Land. PLEASE BE GENEROUS! For more information about Christians in the Holy Land, visit www.myfranciscan.org/good-frid El Papa Francisco ha pedido a nuestra parroquia apoyo para los cristianos en Tierra Santa. Our Mother, the Catholic Church, rejoices in seeing the parents and Godparents’ joyful faces at the time of their children’s baptisms. The parents’ faith-filled interest in baptizing their children gives witness to our world that we are still longing to be part of God’s family. We as a parish have a great respect for your interest in the faith, as well as your love and concern for your child, that we would like to offer you the best formation that we can, so you will be well-prepared for your child’s baptism. We offer an intense baptism workshop on a Saturday morning (8:30-12:00 p.m.) every two months. If you are interested in baptizing your child, you will need to make appointment with Sister Margaret to discuss your child’s baptism. At that time, you will register for the workshop (you and the godparents must be registered before the workshop) and choose your baptism date. 6-194 St. Peter’s SACRAMENTAL / SPIRITUAL LIFE PARISH REGISTRATION: To all new parishioners: Welcome!
