Guernica Instructions: As a group you will create an oral presentation to describe Picasso's most important painting: Guernica. As a whole group you must show that you can... ■ ■ Create and describe a work of art utilizing vocabulary related to art. Relate this painting’s theme to another more current event of similar significance. ■ Describe feelings and the message of your new version of Guernica. ■ Formulate a personal opinion. Each of you will be responsible for preparing a specific section of the presentation but everyone is responsible for the final product. All members will receive (1) group grade and (2) individual grade. All members must speak! During the presentation you must... 1. provide your explanation of the chosen current event. 2. explain the painting: describe it by sections. 3. find differences and similarities between Picasso’s Guernica and your own version. 4. Explain the symbols that represent a similar and more current event to “expand” Guernica’s message. 5. explain the feelings and the message of your version of Guernica. 6. state opinions. Oral section: 1. Present the name of your team as well as all members of the group and her/his role. 2. Only allow to use guide sheet. This must be given to the teacher at the end of the presentation. 3. As a group you must rehearse. The group must make sure that the presentation 1 runs smooth. Who is speaking first, second… 4. Also, rehearse to calculate the running time of the presentation. How long is our presentation? (Total presentation time: 10 minutes max.)
