Covered California Open Enrollment
Open enrollment for Covered California began November 1, 2015 and is open until
January 31, 2016. During open enrollment individuals and families can compare affordable health insurance plans and find the plan that works best based on your needs and
your budget. Through open enrollment, you can apply for Medi-Cal, Kaiser, BlueCross
and more based on your needs. You can also sign up for the Kaiser Child Health Plan
which offers health coverage to children under 19 who don’t have access to health
insurance. You can come into our Family Resource Center in West Sacramento and our
certified enrollment counselors can provide you with assistance.

Developmental Screening for children 0-5 years old
A child’s development can be measured by how a child learns, speaks, moves, behaves and relates.
Skills such as smiling, waving, talking and walking are developmental milestones.
A developmental screening for your child is a great way to help them prepare for school!
AYUDAME A CRECER
Evaluacion del Desarrollo para niños 0-5 años
El desarrollo de un niño puede ser medido por la forma en que el niño aprende, hable, se mueve, se
comporta y se relaciona. Habilidades como sonreir, agitar, hablar y caminar son los habitos del desarroyo.

EAT FRESH WITH/COMA FRESCO CON
Pumpkin Pancakes
Ingredients:
• 2 eggs
• 1 (15 ounce) canned pumpkin
• 2 ½ cups low-fat milk
• 2 tablespoons canola oil
• 2 cups whole wheat flour
• 2 tablespoons sugar
• 1 tablespoon pumpkin pie spice
• ½ teaspoon salt
• Cooking spray
Directions:
1. In a large bowl, combine eggs,
pumpkin, milk and oil.
2. Add flour, brown sugar, baking
powder, pumpkin pie spice, and salt.
Stir gently.
3. Coat skillet with cooking spray. Heat
over medium heat.
4. Pour ¼ cup batter onto hot skillet.
Flip when bubbles appear. Cook until golden.
Panqueues de Calabaza
Ingredientes para cuatro porciones:
• 2 huevos
• 1 lata (15 onzas) de calabaza
• 2 ½ tazas de leche baja en grasa
• 2 cucharadas de aceite de canola
• 2 tazas de harina de trigo integral
• 2 cucharadas de azúcar morena
• 1 cucharada de polvo de hornear
• 1 cucharadita de especias para pastel de calabaza
• ½ cucharadita de sal
• Aceite vegetal en rociador
Direcciones:
1. En un tazón grande, mezcle los huevos, la calabaza, la leche y el
aceite.
2. Añada la harina, el azúcar morena, el polvo de hornear, las especias
para pastel de calabaza y la sal. Mezcle suavemente.
3. Rocie un sartén con aceite vegetal. Caliente a fuego medio.
4. Vierta ¼ taza de la masa en la sartén caliente. Voltee cuando
aprezcan burbujas. Cocine hasta que estén dorados.

UPCOMING: PARENTING CLASSES
Everyone can use a little help to become a better parent. Starting this January the Yolo County Children’s
Alliance will begin offering parenting classes at our West Sacramento Family Resource Center. Staff at the
Family Resource Center will facilitate lessons weekly to educate families on the skills and ideas of the
Nurturing Parenting Program. These parenting classes will cover topics such as: the importance of being a
parent, positive vs. negative discipline, talking with your child, encouragement and motivation, the importance of consistency and much more.
PRÓXMAMENTE: CLASES PARA PADRES
Cada padre puede usar una poca de ayuda para ser un mejor padre. Empezando en Enero La Alianza Infantil
del Condado de Yolo estará ofreciendo clases para padres en nuestro Centro de Recursos para Familias. El
personal estará facilitando lecciones cada semana para educar a las familias en habilidades e ideas del
programa Educando Para La Crianza De Los Hijos. Estas clases para padres cubrirán temas como: La importancía de ser un padre, Positivo vs Disciplina Negativa, Hablando con tu hijo, Fomentando y motivando, la
importancía de la consistencia y mucho más.
