Parking Lot “requests”
A number of parishioners have reported that
they have encountered people “asking for
money” on the church parking lot both before
and after Mass.
Obviously, we want to help people in need;
however, they cannot just come onto the property and begin asking for money. Do NOT
feel guilty when you say no. Inform them
that they MUST talk to the priests or deacon.
Then someone from St. Vincent de Paul will
assist them.

Good Shepherd Sunday:
World Day of Prayer for Vocations
This Sunday celebrates Jesus as “the Good
Shepherd.” When announcing this Jubilee Year
of Mercy, Pope Francis focused on Jesus’ “lost sheep”
parable in Luke. “[Who]
among you,” Jesus asks,
“having a hundred sheep and
losing one of them would not
leave the ninety-nine in the
desert and go after the lost
one until he finds it?” (Luke
15:4). A reasonable answer?
“No responsible shepherd
who wants to keep the job!”
Yet Jesus considers one lost
person supremely important
and suggests blaming the shepherd. The sheep
didn’t “go astray,” the shepherd “lost” it. Thus,
“when he does find it, he sets it on his shoulders with great joy” (15:5). That tender image
of Jesus adorns the simple cross Pope Francis
has always worn, the Good Shepherd gently
carrying the lost sheep home on his shoulders.
During this Jubilee Year of Mercy, may we,
who once were lost ourselves but now are
found, join Jesus in seeking, finding, and gently carrying home at least one precious lamb.

Jornada Mundial de Oración por las Vocaciones
Este domingo se celebra a Jesús como
“el Buen Pastor”. Cuando el Papa
Francisco anunció este Año Jubilar
de la Misericordia, se meditó a Jesús
en la parábola de Lucas de “la oveja
perdida”, “¿Qué hombre de ustedes,
si tiene cien ovejas y una de ellas se
pierde, no deja las noventa y nueve en
el campo y va tras la que está perdida
hasta que la encuentra?” (Lucas 15:4).
¿Cuál sería una posible respuesta? “Un
pastor responsable que quiera cuidar
su buen nombre”. Sin embargo, Jesús
considera a una persona que esté perdida, sumamente importante y sugiere
culpar al pastor. La oveja no “se extravió”, el
pastor la “perdió”. Así que “al encontrarla, la
pone sobre sus hombros, gozoso” (15:5). Esa
es la imagen compasiva de la cruz pectoral que
usa el Papa Francisco, el Buen Pastor llevando
sobre sus hombres a la oveja perdida a casa.
Durante este Año Jubilar de la Misericordia,
que nosotros, que también nosotros estuvimos
perdidos, pero fuimos encontrados, unámonos
a Jesús a buscar, encontrar y llevar con cuidado
a casa al menos a una oveja perdida.

Youth Ministry Friday Mini-Retreats!! We are planning to host two
Mini-Retreats with BIG messages for our youth on April 29th and
May 6th! We are working out the details with NET Ministries. Please

Adult Faith Enrichment - We continue to offer our Adult Faith Enrichment classes during all RE sessions, in both English and Spanish.

Mass Attendance Weekend: Just a reminder, on Mass Attendance
weekends, all RE students are expected to attend Mass here at Santa
Cruz. Please use your attendance envelope that is handed out in your
regular RE class. If you do not receive your envelope, please check the
counter in the church narthex for all envelopes that were not picked-up.

ADULT RE & FAITH ENRICHMENT
A message from Lupita Bodony: Thank you! For the opportunity
you have given me to grow and serve the Adult Ministry, Religious
Education and Youth Ministry in the Parish of Santa Cruz. I will be
moving forward to another parish community at the end of May. I
have served Santa Cruz for the past 8 years. I take with me the gifts,
graces and challenges that I have participated in during my years of
service. What I have learned here I will take with me to assist me in
the Parish community where I will be in ministry beginning June. The
faith that I have experienced here through the Pastor, his staff, the RE
Staff, catechist, RE parents, students and adults has enriched my own
relationship with the Lord Jesus. The presence of the Lord Jesus Christ
is alive and well in the parish community of Santa Cruz. So as I take
leave of this community, I do not say goodbye, but until we meet again!
Un mensaje de Lupita Bodony: ¡Gracias! Por la oportunidad que me
han proporcionado para crecer y servir en el Ministerio de Adultos,
Educación Religiosa y el Ministerio Juvenil en la parroquia de Santa
Cruz. A fines del mes de mayo hare un cambio a otra comunidad parroquiana. He servido aquí en Santa Cruz durante los últimos 8 años.
Me llevo conmigo los dones, gracias y retos de los que he sido parte
durante mis años de servicio aquí. Lo que he aprendido aquí llevaré
conmigo para ayudarme en la comunidad de la parroquia donde voy a
empezar mi ministerio a principios de junio. La fe que he vivido aquí
a través del Párroco, su personal, el personal de Educación Religiosa,
catequistas, padres de familia, estudiantes y adultos que han enriquecido
mi propia relación con nuestro Señor Jesús. La presencia de nuestro
Señor Jesucristo está viva y activa en la comunidad parroquial de Santa
Cruz. Al retirarme de esta comunidad, no digo adiós, sino ¡hasta la
próxima vez que nos encontremos otra vez!

If you came out on Saturday to support our school during the
Cardinal Run, Wellness Fair, and Carnival, thank you! We had
many great sponsors and lots of great help. A special thanks to the
parents and church ministries who helped, especially the Knights
of Columbus who cooked up some tasty hamburgers and hot dogs.
Also, many thanks to Michelle Quintanilla, Rosemary Gamez,
Sonia Teves, Rosie Zavala, Caitlyn Waguespack, and Dayna White
for sharing their time and talent organizing this special event.
Next Saturday morning we have 32 students making their First
Communion. They have been preparing for this very special sacrament all year long and are excitedly looking forward to receiving
Jesus for the first time. Please keep them in your prayers.
A reminder that we are currently enrolling students for the
2016-2017 school year. For more information, go to our school

to schedule a tour. We offer PreK-3 through 8th grade.
