I am excited to show you around Sociedad because a lot of really amazing
work goes on here, and it is something everyone should see for themselves.
Hi, I’m Daniel. I will be your Tour Guide through Sociedad
Latina in 2012. I became involved in Sociedad when I was a 6th
grader at the Tobin School in Mission Hill. My mom found a
flyer for their Mission Enrichment Program in my backpack and
signed me up. I wasn’t excited about it at first because I used
to be really shy, so going to a program with lots of kids that I
didn’t know was nerve-wracking for me. But Sociedad has really
opened me up by exposing me to new people, activities and
ideas. I’m more confident and outgoing now, and I’m honestly
more proud of being Dominican than ever before. My dream
is to become a lawyer so I can bring justice to those who need
it most. Without Sociedad’s help, I would not have a plan to
reach my ambitions. Sociedad is like a family to me. I know
almost everyone in the organization, and they know my family.
I basically grew up here over the past six years, and I wouldn’t
have had it any other way. Hola, soy Daniel. Voy a ser su guía en esta gira por Sociedad
Latina en el 2012. Estoy contento de poder mostrarles el increíble trabajo que hacemos aquí, y que es algo que uno debe
ver por si mismo. Yo me integré a Sociedad Latina cuando estaba en el 6to año de la Escuela Tobin en Mission Hill. Mi mamá
encontró un volante del Programa Avance Mission en mi mochila y me inscribió. Al principio no estaba muy animado porque
yo era muy tímido y me aterraba ser parte de un programa con
chicos que no conocía. Pero Sociedad Latina me permitió conocer gente nueva y nuevas ideas y actividades. Ahora me siento
más seguro y más desenvuelto, y honestamente me siento más
orgulloso de ser Dominicano que antes. Mi sueño es llegar a
ser abogado para ayudar a que se trate con justicia a los que
más la necesitan. Sin la ayuda de Sociedad Latina no tendría un
plan para alcanzar mis objetivos. Sociedad Latina es como una
familia para mí. Conozco a casi todos en la organización y
ellos conocen a mi familia. Prácticamente crecí aquí en
los últimos seis años y no me arrepiento.

for Sociedad’s middle school program for 6 years now. As a familiar face, students really trust me and confide in
me because they know that I’m dedicated to the program, and I am better able to support them as a result.”
For over 40 years, Sociedad Latina has worked to develop,
implement, evaluate and enhance programs that are rooted in our community. Through ongoing research, internal
evaluations, community assessments and feedback from
youth and families, they designed their youth development
model according to best practices in Latino youth programming. Comprehensive research on Latino youth development
programming across the country reveals that Latino youth
achieve superior outcomes through programs that:
Por más de 40 años, Sociedad Latina ha trabajado para elaborar,
implementar, evaluar, y mejorar programas con raíces en nuestra
comunidad. A través de la investigación continua, las evaluaciones internas y comunitarias, y los comentarios de los jóvenes
y sus familias, diseñamos nuestro modelo de desarrollo juvenil de

Inspired by the community’s qualities and visions, Sociedad
Latina used these best practices as the basis for their approach
to youth development, which integrates long-term youth
and family engagement, cultural proficiency, individualized pathways to success, strong and extensive community
partnerships, research based evaluations, and wraparound
support services. Sociedad Latina continuously develops their
programs as innovations emerge and community issues evolve.

Mission
Ahora hay que hablar de la misión de Sociedad Latina: La
de trabajar en colaboración con los jóvenes Latinos y sus
familias para forjar la próxima generación de líderes, que sean
seguros de sí, competentes, auto-suficientes y orgullosos de
su herencia Latina. A largo plazo, Sociedad espera acabar
con el destructivo ciclo de pobreza, desigualdad de acceso a
los servicios de salud y la falta de oportunidades en nuestra
comunidad. Para mí, Sociedad Latina es una organización
que promueve cambios positivos en nuestro vecindario y
en Boston enfocándose en los temas importantes como la
educación, el empleo, la cultura, la participación cívica y la
salud. Sociedad Latina contribuye a forjar líderes juveniles en
la comunidad, como yo, que asumen la responsabilidad de
lograr esos cambios. Como líderes juveniles, llevamos nuestras
ideas a la acción. Sociedad escucha a los jóvenes porque
nosotros vemos lo que los adultos no ven. Sociedad conoce

Now it’s time for Sociedad Latina’s mission: to work in
partnership with Latino youth and families to create the next
generation of leaders who are confident, competent, self-sustaining, and proud of their Latino heritage. Long term, Sociedad envisions an end to destructive cycles of poverty, health
inequities, and lack of opportunity in our community. To me,
Sociedad is an organization that makes positive changes in
our neighborhood and across Boston by focusing on major
issues like education, employment, culture, civic engagement, and health. Sociedad helps create young leaders in the
community, like me, who are responsible for making these
changes. As Youth Leaders, we actually put our thoughts
into action. Sociedad listens to young people because we see
things that adults don’t see. Sociedad knows our language
and culture and makes them a part of our everyday lives. We
get to learn about great leaders in Latino history, speak Spanish, dance Bachata and feel proud of who we are. Our families
feel welcome and love coming to Sociedad too.

Accomplishments
Sociedad Latina’s programs, staff and youth received the
following honors in 2012:
• Alexandra Oliver-Davila, Sociedad Latina’s Executive
Director, received an honorary doctorate from Emmanuel
College. Additionally, the New England Patriots awarded Alexandra with its 2012 Hispanic Heritage Leadership Award.
• The National Council of La Raza recognized Sociedad Latina
as its 2012 Northeast Affiliate of the Year
• Sun Life Financial jointly honored Sociedad Latina’s Mission
Possible program and Vickie Miranda, a longtime Youth
Leader, with its Rising Star Award. Sun Life recognized
Sociedad Latina’s workforce development and financial literacy programming, while Vickie received a $5,000 college
scholarship for her individual academic achievements and
community work through Sociedad Latina.
• Sociedad Latina’s cultural proficiency campaign received a
John Mudd Youth Advocates of the Year (YAY!) Award from
Massachusetts Advocates for Children
Sociedad Latina’s youth accomplished the following
results 2012:
• 100% of college-bound youth received college acceptances
and financial aid packages
“Sociedad Latina is in touch with the needs
of the community it serves, so our partnership enables Berklee to achieve its goal of
doing meaningful work with the community, not just in the community. As a work
site for students in Berklee’s Community
Service Work-Study program, Sociedad
Latina provides a culturally rich environment in which our students not only teach
music to youth, but also learn to be fully
engaged members of society.”

Pathways to Success
At Sociedad, they encourage all of us to think about college
and beyond. Sociedad helps us recognize our passion and
figure out our life’s work. Sociedad offers internships that
provide us with job experience and training in communication, time management, and global citizenship. All of this is
called the “Pathways to Success.” It’s a model where a young
person can decide how to be successful, and take steps
towards their goals each year. From education to workforce
development, civic engagement, and arts and culture,
Pathways to Success has programs that build our skills in
these areas. It’s how we can achieve success over the longterm in a changing world. Pathways also includes strategies
such as family engagement and cultural proficiency that
make it easier for us to succeed at Sociedad and come back
year after year. Many of us have been here for 3, 4, or more
years. I’m a junior in high school and I’ve been coming to
Sociedad since middle school.
En Sociedad, nos animan a todos a que pensemos en ir a la
universidad y aun más allá. Sociedad nos ayuda a reconocer
nuestros intereses y descubrir el trabajo al que dedicaremos
nuestras vidas. Sociedad nos ofrece prácticas que nos dan
experiencias de trabajo y capacitación en comunicaciones,
administración de nuestro tiempo, y ciudadanía global. Todo
esto se llama “Vías al Éxito”, que es un modelo en el cual un
joven puede decidir cómo lograr el éxito, y tomar pasos cada
año para alcanzar sus objetivos. Desde la educación hasta la
capacitación laboral, la participación cívica, y el arte y la
cultura, Vías al Éxito tiene programas que nos capacitan en
esas áreas. Así es como alcanzamos el éxito a largo plazo en

I used to hate school.
When I was in the 6th grade,
I planned to drop out as soon as
I could. Now I don’t think that
way. I definitely plan to
go to college.
Program
Mission Enrichment
The Mission Enrichment Program (MEP) really turned things
around for me. It’s an afterschool program at Sociedad Latina
that I did from 6th to 8th grade. We did normal stuff like finish our homework and learn math and language arts. But we
also got to choose enrichment clubs, like glassblowing, music,
graphic design and robotics. Student volunteers, called “College Coaches,” worked with us on projects in small groups. I
loved getting to know College Coaches because I didn’t know
many college kids before MEP. Hearing about their lives and
dreams inspired me to want to go to college. Sociedad staff
always listened to me and actually cared about what I had to
say. They would talk to my family all the time and make sure
I was ok and staying on track for high school. Through MEP,
I started to get over my shyness, learn about who I am, and
become involved in my community. I learned about topics
that I never thought about before, like the how to start a
business or handle a bully. It wasn’t like school because it was
more hands-on, we could speak Spanish, and staff understood where we were coming from.

de clases de Sociedad Latina en el que participé desde el
6to al 8vo año. Hacíamos cosas normales como ayuda con

diseño gráfico y robótica. Voluntarios universitarios, llamados
“Entrenadores Universitarios”, trabajaban con nosotros en

proyectos de grupos pequeños. Me gustó mucho conocer a
los Entrenadores porque no conocía muchos universitarios
antes de MEP. Conocer sus vidas y sus sueños me inspiraron a
querer ir a la universidad. El personal de Sociedad siempre me
escuchaba y de verdad les importaba lo que tenia que decir.
Hablaban con mi familia todo el tiempo y se aseguraban que
yo estaba bien y en camino a la secundaria. Con MEP empecé
a superar mi timidez, descubrir quien era y participar en mi
comunidad. Aprendí cosas en las que nunca había pensado
antes, como la manera de empezar un negocio o como tratar
a un hostigador. No era como la escuela porque era más
práctico, podíamos hablar español, y el personal entendía
nuestras experiencias.
Results:
•90% of parents and families said Sociedad Latina is the best
place for their child to be after school
•23 College Coaches from 7 colleges supported MEP
•Each MEP student spent 380+ hours in program

Program
Summer Seedlings
Mission Enrichment’s summer component is the Summer
Seedlings Program (SSP). I didn’t do SSP when I was in MEP,
but I know a lot about it because my friends went. It’s a more
intense version of MEP. It’s a six week-long program where
youth go for the entire day. They have math and literacy lessons, but they also go on field trips to places like museums and
small businesses. The main summer project was for students to
create their own businesses, which related to the activities they
participated in each day, such as glassblowing, graphic design,
capoeira, music, dance or visual arts. At the end of the program, youth presented their businesses to families, friends and
community partners. Through hands-on learning experiences,
including talking to professionals about how they started their
businesses, SSP youth were better able to create their own
businesses. Simmons College hosted the program for the second year in a row in 2012, giving 60 students the opportunity
to sit in a real college classroom each day.
El Programa Semillero de Verano (SSP, por sus siglas en inglés)
es el componente de verano de Avance Mission. No participé en el cuándo estuve en MEP, pero conozco el programa
por mis amigos. Es una versión más intensiva de MEP, de seis
semanas, en el que los jóvenes participan diariamente. Tienen
clases de matemáticas y lectura, pero también van a museos y
pequeños negocios. Como proyecto de verano cada estudiante tenia que crear su propio negocio, relacionado con las
actividades en las que participaban a diario, como la forja de
vidrio, diseño gráfico, capoeira, música, baile o artes visuales.
Al final del programa los jóvenes presentaron sus negocios a
sus familiares, amigos y colaboradores comunitarios. A través
de la experiencia práctica, que incluyó conversar con profesionales sobre cómo iniciaron sus negocios, los jóvenes del Semillero pudieron crear los suyos. Simmons College auspició el
programa por segundo año consecutivo en el 2012, dándoles
la oportunidad a 60 estudiantes para que ocuparan a un aula
universitaria todos los días.

Results:
•97% of students tried something they had never done before
•Students averaged 138 hours of learning time over the summer
•10:1 ratio of certified teachers to students
•60 students presented a business plan to their community

Mission Possible
At the end of my 8th grade year in MEP, Jimmy, the Education Director, told me that I should move on to Sociedad’s
Mission Possible (MP) program. I trusted that Jimmy knew
what was best for me because I’ve always been able to count
on him. He knows my family really well, too. The best part of
joining MP was that I could also apply for a paid internship at
Sociedad. My first paycheck! I was in.
At first, I only went to MP for homework help and academic support. The transition to high school was tough — new
teachers, friends, classes and expectations. But MP has a 9th
Grade Academy designed to help us through these challenges. By January, I was on track in school, so I applied for a
Youth Community Organizer position and got it! Since then,
I’ve attended MP twice per week while also working in the
community. MP is a combination of homework help, skill
building exercises and college and career preparation. Even
after we graduate from high school, MP is still there to help
us continue being successful in college or our careers. Our
families also come in to learn how to support our dreams,
including how to pay for college and support our transition
to adulthood.
The best part of MP is that we get to meet college students
and professionals who come in and talk to us about stuff like
the applying for college or careers, different majors for different professions, and what it’s like to be in college or have
a certain job. It’s really cool to be able to ask them questions
and they give us real advice that we can actually use. Some
have even invited us to their schools and offices to shadow them and see what their lives are like. We also connect
with Sociedad program alumni that went on to college or
employment. Last year Sociedad also started the Campus
Connections program where we spend one Saturday per
month visiting a college campus. Latino student groups host
us, which allows us to spend time with college students from
similar backgrounds as us. We spend the whole day talking
about how to transition to college, how to pick a career path,
and what life is like after high school.
Cuando terminé el 8vo año en MEP, Jimmy, el Director de
Educación, me dijo que debería pasar al programa Mission
Posible (MP por sus siglas en inglés) de Sociedad. Tuve la
confianza que Jimmy sabía que era lo mejor para mí porque
siempre había podido contar con él. El también conoce bien
a mi familia. Lo mejor de participar en MP es que podría postular a una práctica pagada en Sociedad. ¡Mi primer cheque
de trabajo! Eso me convenció.
Al principio, sólo iba a MP para recibir ayuda con las tareas
y apoyo académico. La transición a la secundaria fue difícil — nuevos maestros, amigos, clases y expectativas. Pero MP
tienen una Academia del 9no Año diseñada para ayudarnos a
superar esos desafíos. Para Enero, ya estaba bien encaminado
en el colegio así que postulé a la posición de Organizador
Comunitario Juvenil ¡y me aceptaron! Desde entonces, voy
a MP dos veces por semana mientras trabajo en la comunidad. MP es una combinación de ayuda

después de graduarnos de la secundaria, MP todavía está allí

La mejor parte de MP es conocer estudiantes universitarios

o desempeñarse en ciertos trabajos. Es muy bueno poder
hacerles preguntas y que nos den consejos prácticos. Algunos
hasta nos han invitado a sus universidades y oficinas para

los nuestros. Pasamos todo el día hablando de la transición a
la universidad, cómo escoger una carrera, y cómo es la vida
después de la secundaria.

Learn Us to Teach Us
Youth Community Organizing is my area of expertise. I’ve been
a Youth Community Organizer since 9th grade. It’s a program
where we talk about issues that are important to us because they
affect our everyday lives and ability to succeed, like our culture,
community, education and health. Not only do we get to speak
out about the issues, have our ideas heard, and work to make
our schools and neighborhoods stronger, but we also get paid.
We do a lot of training to learn how to identify issues, develop
strategies, and mobilize our community. We then get to train
other youth so they can have their voices heard, too. Most people my age don’t get to have these kinds of jobs. I get to actually
help my community and make a difference when I’m at work. In
2012, we worked on two main campaigns: Learn Us to Teach Us
and We Are What We Eat.
Learn Us is about making the Boston Public School system more
culturally proficient. The school system is diverse, and there are a
lot of Latinos. As students of different cultures, we think it’s unfair
that we don’t see our culture in the curriculum. I don’t get to
learn about the history of the Dominican Republic at school, but I
would like to. Teachers often don’t look like us or understand our
languages. The campaign tries to change this. We work to raise
awareness of the issue and include student voices in the school
system’s policies and practices by attending school committee
meetings and hearings on education. We propose our own
solutions to the district’s problems, and work to create a better
school system for all students. In 2012, we started the first ever
ELL Youth Advisory, which includes 15 youth representatives from
different schools and cultures.

Aprende con Nosotros trata de contribuir a la capacitación cultural
de las Escuelas Públicas de Boston. El sistema escolar es diverso,
y hay muchos Latinos. Como estudiantes de culturas diferentes,
pensamos que no es justo no ver nuestra cultura en el currículo.
No aprendo la historia de la Republica Dominicana en la escuela,
pero me gustaría poder hacerlo. Muchos de los maestros no se
parecen a nosotros o entienden nuestros idiomas. La campaña
trata de cambiar esta situación. Trabajamos para elevar el nivel
de conciencia sobre este tema e incluir la voz de los estudiantes
en las políticas y prácticas del sistema escolar participando en las
reuniones del comité escolar y en las audiencias sobre educación.
Proponemos nuestras propias soluciones a los problemas del distrito, y trabajamos para creer un mejor sistema escolar para todos

Program: youth community organizing
We Are What We Eat
In our other campaign, We Are What We Eat, we work to
improve food standards at Boston Public Schools (BPS). We
surveyed 300 BPS students to see how they felt about school
lunches, and most of them said that they don’t like how the
food tastes. The food isn’t very healthy either. A lot of the
drinks they serve have tons of sugar, and the meals lack fresh
fruits and vegetables. The food isn’t at all like what we eat
at home. To change this, we go to meetings where we talk
to BPS officials about the quality and nutritional value of our
food. We try to convince them to make the food healthier
and more like the food of our cultures. I can already see the
food getting healthier because of our work. People who make
decisions about school lunch don’t taste what we taste every
day. We work to make sure they understand how food tastes
to us, and how its quality affects our health and ability to do
well in school.
En nuestra otra campaña, Somos lo que Comemos, trabajamos para mejorar los patrones alimenticios en las Escuelas
Públicas de Boston (BPS.) Hicimos una encuesta de 300
estudiantes de BPS para ver que les parecían los almuerzos
escolares y la mayoría dijo que no le gustaba el sabor de la
comida. La comida no es muy saludable tampoco. Muchas
de las bebidas que sirven tienen mucha azúcar, y las meriendas no incluyen frutas y verduras. La comida no es como
la que comemos en casa. Para cambiar esto, nos reunimos
con el personal de BPS para hablar sobre la calidad y valor
nutritivo de nuestra alimentación. Tratamos de convencerlos
que hagan la comida más sana y más como la de nuestras
culturas. Ya puedo ver que la comida es más sana debido a
nuestros esfuerzos. Las personas que toman las decisiones
sobre el almuerzo escolar no lo comen todos los días como
nosotros. Nos esforzamos para hacerles entender cómo la comida nos sabe a nosotros, y cómo su calidad afecta nuestra
salud y rendimiento académico.

Wilmer Quiñones has been a Youth Community Organizer (YCO) with me for the
past three years. He’s from the Dominican
Republic and is the student representative
that sits on the Boston Public Schools’
English Language Learners (ELL) Task Force.
Wilmer had to go through the English language learning process
at BPS himself, so he’s passionate about making the ELL program
more culturally proficient. When I asked him why he wanted to
be a YCO, he told me,
“I was asked to be a part of my community
and that was special for me. Now I want my
community to be my career.”

Music Clubhouse
I’ve never been a Youth Music Ambassador (YMA) who works
in Sociedad’s Music Clubhouse because I’ve always been
more interested in other things. But I know some of the
YMAs, like Sgardy and Alonzo, and they told me about what
they do. Through the Clubhouse, young people explore their
interests in music and art. The Clubhouse offers Saturday
music classes where community youth learn music reading,
technique, and theory. Youth can learn guitar, keyboard,
drums and vocals, as well as instruments from their own culture, like conga drums. YMAs receive musical training through
weekly workshops. They then form an ensemble, write songs,
produce albums, and perform at community events around
the city. YMAs help run the Clubhouse by setting up and
maintaining the equipment, recruiting participants, and supporting staff. The Clubhouse also holds music classes during
the school day for 150 students at Boston schools that don’t
have music classes available at their schools. The Clubhouse
has three work-study students from Berklee College of Music
that support music instruction and events.

Cultural Events
Besides providing instruction, the Clubhouse also holds many
events and performances, including open mic nights, spoken
word poetry readings and open studios. One of the Clubhouse’s biggest events of 2012 was in honor of Latino Heritage
Month. Throughout October, Clubhouse staff and youth, along
with other local artists, performed at four different Latino Heritage Month events for about 600 people from the community.
Local artists included Ritmo Masacote, Marcus Santos, Grupo
Fantasia and David Rivera and the Afro-Latin Big Band. The
events celebrated different Latino cultures, from Puerto Rican
to Brazilian, by including the rhythms, styles and instruments
of different Latin American countries. All Youth Leaders helped
out with the event by supporting different activities, like mask
painting, and participating in different workshops, like salsa
dancing. Through it, we learned more about each other’s
cultures. Many people think that Latinos are one big group
of people with similar traditions. But that’s not the case. We
all speak differently, dance differently, and eat differently, and
Latino Heritage Month gave us an opportunity to celebrate
these differences.

variedad de eventos y presentaciones, que incluyen noches
de espontáneos, lectura de poesía y estudios abiertos. Uno
de los eventos más importantes del Club en el 2012 se hizo
en honor al Mes de la Herencia Latina. Durante todo el mes
de Octubre, el personal y jóvenes del Club, junto con artistas
locales, se presentaron en cuatro diferentes eventos del Mes
de la Herencia Latina frente a 600 personas de la comunidad.
Entre los artistas locales estaban Ritmo Masacote, Marcus Santos, Grupo Fantasía y David Rivera y el Afro-Latin Big Band.
Los eventos celebraron las diferentes culturas Latinas, desde
Puerto Rico hasta Brasil, al incluir los ritmos, estilos e instrumentos de los diferentes países Latino Americanos. Todos los

hablamos diferente, bailamos diferente, y comemos diferente,
y el Mes de la Herencia Latina nos dio la oportunidad de celebrar esas diferencias.

Alonzo became involved in the clubhouse through his love of music.
He listens to music 24/7. Alonzo says:
“Sociedad has had an effect on me because it has
taught me skills that I need for the real world.
I like it because it’s like a big family here. If you
don’t know everyone now, you’ll know them
eventually, and that makes a difference.”

Health Educators
I was a Health Educator over the summer because I wanted
to try something new. I like working on YCOs’ school lunch
campaign, so I thought it would be good for me to learn
more about health and nutrition through Health Educators.
Health Educators is complex. It’s not just about one thing.
It’s about everything that affects your health and wellbeing,
like nutrition, physical fitness, and healthy relationships.
Health Educators learn about community health issues, then
turn around and lead community workshops and events that
educate people on healthy lifestyle habits, giving people in
our community the resources they need to take control of
their own health. We also create healthy recipes inspired by
traditional Latino dishes. We taught youth and families how
to cook these recipes and where they can buy healthy and
affordable ingredients. Health Educators are putting these
recipes together for a bilingual cookbook. They also motivate
people to exercise through community sports and fitness
events. In the spring, Health Educators ran a Fitness Boot
Camp during April school break where youth participated in
yoga, kickball, zumba, and capoeira.
Fui un Educador de la Salud durante un verano porque quería
probar algo nuevo. Me gusta el trabajo en la campaña para
mejorar los almuerzos escolares, así que pensé que debería
aprender más sobre la salud y la nutrición con los Educadores
de la Salud. Los Educadores de la Salud son algo complejo.
No tratan sólo con un tema, sino con todo lo que afecta la

My friend Genesis is a Health Educator that represents Sociedad through the Boston Public Health Commission’s Youth
Advisory Council. She talks to people from the community and
brings their health concerns to the Commission.
“I was really interested in nutrition. Sociedad
isn’t like other jobs. They actually inform
me about health issues, and then we help
prevent them.”
También creamos recetas saludables inspiradas en la cocina
tradicional Latina. Les enseñamos a los jóvenes y sus familias
cómo preparar estas recetas y donde comprar los ingredientes
más saludables y más baratos. Los Educadores de la Salud
están recopilando estas recetas en un libro de cocina bilingüe.
También motivan a la gente a hacer ejercicio en eventos

Health Careers for Youth

Health Careers for Youth is a program where youth, both current high school students and recent graduates, are matched
with internship opportunities in seven different hospitals and
medical centers in Boston’s Longwood Medical Area. Health
Careers is an opportunity for Youth Leaders who are interested
in healthcare to gain job experience in different areas of the
field. There are a lot of different career options in healthcare,
especially here in Boston. My friend Vianny wants to be a nurse
practitioner, while my friend Luis’s goal is to become a pediatrician. Health Careers gives youth a chance to figure out which
areas of healthcare are right for them and their goals. Youth
bring their cultural skills and background to the profession,
which makes them more valuable.
Carreras en el Área de la Salud para Jóvenes es un programa
donde los jóvenes, ya sean que todavía estén en la secundaria
o recién graduados, reciben la oportunidad de hacer prácticas en uno de siete hospitales o centros médicos en el Área
Médica Longwood (ver abajo.) Carreras en el Área de la Salud
