Welcome to Holland! We hope you enjoy your stay in our country.
You’ll be wanting to have a look around, and this is where we can
recommend the train as the best way of getting from A to B. Forget
the stress of traffic jams and trying to find a parking space in a city
you don’t know. Sit back and relax!
The rail network
in the Netherlands
On the first page of this brochure there is
a map of the main routes on the network.
There are three types of trains in the
Netherlands: the Intercity (fast connections
between the cities), the Sprinter (which also
stops more frequently, at the smaller
stations) and the High-Speed Line (covers
larger distances in a shorter time). Most
stations are centrally located. The lines
shown in green belong to other rail
companies (page 4). Most NS tickets are
valid here as well.
Fyra
Fyra is a comfortable train that runs on the
high-speed track and is therefore, by far, the
fastest connection between Amsterdam,
Schiphol, Rotterdam and Breda. For further

Information about
your journey
Before commencing your journey
• On our Internet site www.ns.nl you can
find train departure and arrival times as
well as ticket price information. The
information on this site is also available
in English. The site also has information
about international trains.
• You can call 0900-9292 (€0.70 per
minute) to ask for information about
door-to-door travel about all public
transport in Holland. For information
about international trains visit
www.NSHispeed.nl or call 0900-9296
(€0.35 per minute).
At the station:
• The yellow timetables on the station
concourse and on the platforms show departure times and platform numbers. The route is shown at the top of each board.
• The blue and white overhead signs on
the concourse and platforms show the
platform numbers, the departure times,
the route taken and the final
destination.
• Overhead signs in the central concourse
at larger stations show departure times
of trains by order of departure from that
station, together with the destination
and platform number.
• NS railway staff at the NS ticket office
and our employees on the platform, on
the station concourse and in the train
will be happy to give you any travel
information you may need.

Ticket options
Singles and Day Returns
(Enkele reis en Dagretour)
A Day Return is more convenient than two
singles. Your return journey must take
place on the same day as your outward
journey.
Day Travel Card (Dagkaart)
This card allows you unlimited travel
around the country within one day.
Weekend Return (Weekendretour)
A Weekend Return is the same as a
Day Return, except that it is valid on
weekend days. For the price of a day
return, you can travel between 7 pm on
Friday evening and 4 am the following
Monday morning.
Railrunner - the kiddies’ ticket
Under this deal, children aged 4-11 can
travel under adult supervision (18 years
or older) for just €2.50. A maximum of
3 children per adult can travel at the
Railrunner price. Children aged 3 and
younger travel free.
Where can you buy tickets?
There are NS ticket machines at every
station. Medium-sized stations also have

small shops or a Kiosk where tickets can
be bought. The bigger stations have Ticket
& Service offices.
There is an additional charge of €0.50 per
ticket for the personal service if you buy
your tickets at the ticket office. You can
buy your tickets quickly and conveniently
from the ticket machine. These tickets are
not subject to the additional charge.
Methods of payment
• Tickets for Fyra, ICE and Thalys are
subject to an additional charge.
• At major stations, you can pay at the
ticket machine with a (Maestro) PIN
code.
• At almost all stations there is at least
1 ticket machine at which you can pay
with coins. This machine can be
recognised by its rounded front and
coin slot.
• You can pay cash or use a (Maestro)
PIN at the NS Tickets & Service desk at
major stations, but they do not take
credit cards.
• At Schiphol and Amsterdam Centraal
you can also pay by credit card (VISA or
MasterCard) at the ticket machines and
the NS Tickets & Service desk.
• The payment methods that a ticket
machine accepts are shown by the
payment method logos at the right of
the machine’s screen.
• At larger stations there is usually a GWK
bank where you can withdraw cash,
exchange currency and cash travellers'
cheques. GWK also has cash machines
that allow withdrawals using credit
cards and international bank passes.
Services at stations
Left luggage facilities
There are electronic luggage lockers at
many stations. These cost around €4.00
for 24 hours storage.
Lost Property
If you are unlucky enough to have left
your personal belongings on the train,
please report the loss at an NS ticket
office. You will be asked to pay a charge
when the items are returned. You can find
more information on the Lost Property
form.
Cycling around Holland
About 140 NS stations offer bike hire at
the bicycle hire shop. Ask for more details
at an NS tickets office.
Taking your bike on the train
If you want to take your bike with you on
the train you need to buy a Bicycle Day
Ticket (Dagkaart fiets), which costs €6.00.
Be aware, however, that space is limited,
and that bikes are not allowed during the
morning and evening rush hours (except
in July and August). There are special
places in the train where you can put your
bike. Symbols on the outside of the train
show you where the bicycle spaces are.
Please ask for terms and conditions at the
NS ticket office. The terms and conditions
for taking a bicycle on the various
international trains and Fyra vary. Please go

wärmstens empfehlen. Sie stehen nicht im Stau und brauchen in
einer fremden Stadt auch nicht nach einem Parkplatz zu suchen.
Das Schienennetz in den
Niederlanden
Auf der ersten Seite dieser Broschüre
finden Sie eine Karte der wichtigsten
Bahnstrecken. In den Niederlanden gibt es
drei Arten von Zügen: den Intercity (mit
schnellen Verbindungen von Stadt zu
Stadt), den Sprinter (Nahverkehrszug, der
häufiger an kleineren Bahnhöfen hält) und
die Hogesnelheidslijn(Hochgeschwindigkei
tszug, der große Distanzen in kurzer Zeit
zurücklegt). Die meisten Bahnhöfe befinden
sich im Zentrum einer Stadt/Ortschaft. Auf
der Karte (Seite 4) sehen Sie auch einige
grüne Linien. Diese Linien werden von
anderen Eisenbahngesellschaften betrieben.
Ihre NS-Fahrkarte ist auch hier gültig.
Fyra
Fyra ist ein komfortabler Zug, der auf der
Hochgeschwindigkeitsstrecke zwischen
Amsterdam, Schiphol, Rotterdam und Breda
verkehrt und die bei weitem schnellste
Verbindung für diese Strecke darstellt.

Unterwegs und auf dem Bahnhof:
• Gelbe Tafeln in der Bahnhofshalle und
auf den Bahnsteigen: Hier finden Sie die
Abfahrtszeiten und die Gleisnummer
der Züge. Oben auf der Tafel ist die
Strecke angegeben.
• Weiß-blaue Tafeln in der Bahnhofshalle
und auf den Bahnsteigen: Hier finden
Sie die Gleisnummer, die Abfahrtszeit,
die Strecke und den Zielort des Zuges.
• Zentrale Anzeigentafel: Anzeigentafel in
der Bahnhofshalle der größeren
Bahnhöfe, auf der in chronologischer
Reihenfolge alle Züge, die von diesem
Bahnhof abfahren, mit Zielbahnhof und
Gleisnummer auf geführt sind.
• Bei den NS-Mitarbeitern: Sie können
sich mit Fragen an einen Mitarbeiter am
NS-Fahrkartenschalter oder an einen
Verkaufsmitarbeiter in den Wizzl- oder
Kiosk-Läden wenden. Auch unsere
Mitarbeiter auf den Bahnsteigen, in der
Bahnhofshalle und in den Zügen
erteilen Ihnen gern Reiseinformationen.
Verschiedene Fahrkarten
Einzel- und Rückfahrkarte
Eine Rückfahrkarte ist bequemer als zwei
Einzelfahrkarten. Hin- und Rückfahrt
müssen am gleichen Tag erfolgen. Wenn
Sie an einem Tag mehrere Orte besuchen
möchten, können Sie am
NS-Fahrkartenschalter eine entsprechende
Fahrkarte kaufen.
Tageskarte (Dagkaart)
Mit dieser Karte können Sie einen Tag lang
unbegrenzt durch die Niederlande reisen.
Wochenendfahrkarte (Weekendretour)
Eine Wochenendfahrkarte ist im Prinzip
eine Rückfahrkarte, sie ist jedoch länger
gültig. Für den Preis einer Rückfahrkarte
können Sie am Wochenende von Freitag
19.00 Uhr bis Montag 04.00 Uhr reisen.
Railrunner: die Kindertageskarte
Kinder im Alter von 4-11 Jahren können
in Begleitung eines Erwachsenen (ab 18
Jahren) für €2,50 mitreisen. Pro Begleiter
können maximal 3 Kinder zum RailrunnerPreis mitfahren. Kinder bis 3 Jahre reisen
kostenlos.
Wo können Sie Fahrkarten kaufen?
Auf allen Bahnhöfen finden Sie
NS-Fahrkartenautomaten. Auf den
mittelgroßen Bahnhöfen findet der
Fahrkartenverkauf darüber hinaus in
kleinen Shops mit dem Namen Wizzl
oder Kiosk statt. Auf größeren Bahnhöfen
können Sie Ihre Fahrkarte auch am
Schalter kaufen.
Wenn Sie Ihre Fahrkarte am
Fahrkartenschalter kaufen, wird eine
zusätzliche Servicegebühr von €0,50
pro Fahrkarte erhoben. Sie können Ihre
Fahrkarten schnell und bequem am
Fahrkartenautomat kaufen. In diesem
Fall entfällt diese zusätzliche Gebühr.

Zahlungsmöglichkeiten
• In großen Bahnhöfen können Sie am
Fahrkartenautomat mit Karte und
PIN-Code (Maestro) bezahlen.
• An fast allen Bahnhöfen gibt es
mindestens einen Fahrkartenautomat,
an dem Sie auch mit Münzen bezahlen
können. Diese Automaten sind an der
abgerundeten Front und am
Münzeinwurf zu erkennen.
• In großen Bahnhöfen können Sie am
NS-Service- und Fahrkartenschalter bar
bezahlen oder Ihre Karte mit PIN-Code
(Maestro) nutzen. Kreditkarten werden
jedoch nicht akzeptiert.
• Am Bahnhof des Flughafens Schiphol
und im Hauptbahnhof Amsterdam
Centraal können Sie an den Fahrkartenautomaten und am NS-Service- und
Fahrkartenschalter auch mit Kreditkarte
(VISA oder MasterCard) bezahlen.
• Anhand der Logos für die verschiedenen
Zahlungsweisen rechts vom Bildschirm
der Fahrkartenautomaten sind die vom
jeweiligen Automaten unterstützten
Zahlungsweisen ersichtlich.
• In größeren Bahnhöfen gibt es meist
auch eine GWK Bank. Dort erhalten
Sie Bargeld, können ausländische
Währungen wechseln und Reiseschecks
einlösen. GWK verfügt auch über
Bankautomaten, an denen Sie mit
Kreditkarten und ausländischen
Bankkarten Geld abheben können.

Service auf dem Bahnhof
Gepäckaufbewahrung
Auf zahlreichen Bahnhöfen können Sie
Ihr Gepäck in elektronisch gesicherten
Schließfächern deponieren. Die Kosten
betragen ca. €4,- für 24 Stunden.
Fundsachen
Wenn Sie Ihr Gepäck versehentlich im
Zug vergessen haben, können Sie dies
an einem NS-Schalter melden. Für die
Wiederbeschaffung werden Ihnen Kosten in
Rechnung gestellt. Weitere Informationen
finden Sie auf dem Fundsachenformular.
Radfahren in den Niederlanden
An etwa 140 Bahnhöfen können Sie ein
Fahrrad mieten. Weitere Informationen
erhalten Sie am NS-Fahrkartenschalter.
Fahrradmitnahme im Zug
Wenn Sie Ihr Rad im Zug mitnehmen
möchten, müssen Sie im Besitz einer
Fahrrad-Tageskarte (Dagkaart Fiets) zu €6,sein. Der Platz im Zug ist jedoch begrenzt,
und während des Berufsverkehrs morgens
und abends dürfen (außer in den Sommer
monaten Juli und August) keine Fahrräder
im Zug mitgenommen werden. Informatio
nen über die Beförderungs- bedingungen
für Fahrräder erhalten Sie am NS-Schalter.
In den verschiedenen internationalen
Zügen und Fyra gelten jeweils unterschied
liche Bedingungen für die Fahrradmit

La meilleure façon de découvrir les Pays-Bas. Bienvenue
aux Pays-Bas ! Pour votre tour de découverte, nous vous
recommandons vivement le train comme moyen de transport.
Vous n’aurez pas de problème d’embouteillages ni de place
de stationnement à chercher dans une ville inconnue.
Le réseau ferroviaire
aux Pays-Bas
Il existe trois types de trains aux Pays-Bas :
l’Intercity (qui relie rapidement une ville à
une autre), le Sprinter (omnibus qui
effectue davantage d’arrêts dans les
petites gares) et le Hogesnelheidstrein
(train à grande vitesse qui permet
d’effectuer de longs trajets en peu de
temps). La plupart des gares se trouvent
au centre. Sur la carte (page 4), vous
pouvez également voir plusieurs lignes
vertes. D’autres compagnies ferroviaires
circulent sur ces lignes. Votre billet NS est
également valable ici.
Fyra
Fyra est un train confortable utilisant les
lignes à grande vitesse et constituant, de
loin, la connexion la plus rapide entre
Amsterdam, Schiphol, Rotterdam et Breda.

En cours de route et à la gare :
• Panneaux jaunes dans le hall de gare
et sur les quais : vous y trouverez les
heures de départ et le numéro de voie
des trains. L’itinéraire du train est
indiqué en haut du panneau.
• Panneaux bleus et blancs dans le hall
de gare et sur les quais : c’est là que
sont indiqués le numéro de la voie,
l’heure de départ et l’itinéraire du train,
ainsi que la destination finale.
• Indicateur central de hall : un panneau
dans le hall des gares les plus
importantes mentionne dans l’ordre de
départ tous les trains qui quittent cette
gare et précise la gare de destination
et le numéro de la voie.
• Auprès de l’employé NS (Chemins de fer
néerlandais) : le personnel du guichet
NS et du magasin Wizzl ou Kiosk ainsi
que nos employés pré sents sur le quai,
dans le hall de gare et dans le train se
tiennent à votre disposition pour toute
information de voyage.
Divers billets de train
Aller simple (Enkele reis) et Retour
dans la journée (Dagretour)
Un Retour dans la journée est plus pacile
que deux fois un aller simple. L’aller et le
retour doivent avoir lieu le même jour. Si
vous souhaitez vous rendre à plusieurs
endroits au cours d’une même journée,
vous pouvez acheter un billet spécial au
guichet NS.
Carte pour un jour (Dagkaart)
Cette carte vous permet de voyager de
façon illimitée pendant une journée aux
Pays-Bas.
Retour dans le week-end
(Weekendretour)
Un Retour dans le week-end est similaire
à un Retour dans la journée, mais sa durée
de validité est plus longue. Pour le prix
d’un Retour dans la journée, vous pouvez
voyager le week-end à partir de 19 h 00
le vendredi soir jusqu’à 04 h 00 le lundi
matin.
Railrunner : le billet pour enfant
Les enfants de 4 à 11 ans qui
accompagnent un adulte (18 ans ou plus)
peuvent voyager pour 2,50€. Au
maximum 3 enfants par accompagnateur
peuvent voyager au tarif Railrunner. Les
enfants jusqu’à 3 ans voyagent
gratuitement.
Où acheter les billets de train ?
Vous trouverez des distributeurs
automatiques de billets de train dans
toutes les gares NS. Dans les gares de
moyenne importance, la vente a
également lieu dans des petits magasins

nommé Wizzl ou Kiosk. Dans les gares
plus importantes, vous pouvez aussi
acheter votre billet à un guichet NS.
Un supplément de 0,50€ par ticket est
facturé pour le service si vous achetez vos
tickets au guichet. Vous pouvez acheter
vos tickets rapidement et facilement au
distributeur automatique. Les tickets
achetés au distributeur automatique
ne comportent pas de supplément.
Possibilités de paiement
• Les distributeurs automatiques de billets
des gares importantes acceptent les
cartes (Maestro) PIN néerlandaises.
• Pratiquement toutes les gares disposent
d’au moins 1 distributeur automatique
de billets acceptant les pièces. Ce
distributeur est reconnaissable à sa
façade arrondie et à sa fente à monnaie.
• Guichet NS de gares importantes :
espèces et carte (Maestro) PIN
néerlandaise ; les cartes de crédit ne
sont pas acceptées.
• Gare de Schiphol et d’Amsterdam
Centraal : les cartes de crédit (VISA et
MasterCard) sont aussi acceptées dans
les distributeurs automatiques de billets
et au guichet NS.
• Les modes de paiement acceptés par un
distributeur automatique de billets sont
indiqués par leurs logos à droite de
l’écran du distributeur.
• Dans les gares importantes, vous
trouverez généralement une banque
GWK, où vous pourrez retirer de
l’argent, échanger des devises ou des
chèques de voyage. Vous y trouverez
également des distributeurs

Faire de la bicyclette aux Pays-Bas
Vous pouvez louer une bicyclette dans une
centaine de gares auprès du Magasin de
cycles. Adressez-vous au guichet pour plus
d’informations.
Transporter des bicyclettes
dans le train
Si vous souhaitez transporter votre
bicyclette dans le train, vous devez être en
possession d’une Carte de bicyclette pour
un jour (d’un montant de 6€). Toutefois,
l’espace dans le train est limité et il n’est
pas permis de transporter des bicyclettes
dans le train aux heures de pointe du soir
et du matin (sauf en juillet et en août).
Demandez les conditions précises à un
guichet NS. Les termes et conditions de
transport de vélo dans les différents trains
internationaux et le Fyra varient.

La red ferroviaria
en los Países Bajos
En la primera página de este dosier
encontrará un mapa con las principales
rutas de la red. En los Países Bajos existen
tres tipos de trenes: el Intercity (con
conexiones rápidas entre ciudades), el
Sprinter (que para más a menudo en
estaciones pequeñas) y el Hogesnelheidslijn
(que recorre largas distancias en poco
tiempo). La mayoría de las estaciones está
situada en el centro de las ciudades. En el
mapa (página 4) también verá varias líneas
verdes, que operan otras compañías

Fyra
Fyra es un tren que ofrece comodidad y

Los diferentes tipos de billetes
Billete de ida y billete de ida y vuelta
Un billete de ida y vuelta es más fácil que
dos billetes de ida. El viaje de ida y el de
vuelta se han de realizar el mismo día. Si
desea visitar en un día varias ciudades,
existe un billete especial que puede
comprar en la taquilla de NS.

Billete de un día (Dagkaart)
Con este billete puede viajar libremente
por toda Holanda durante un día.
Billete de fin de semana
(Weekendretour)
El billete de fin de semana es idéntico al
billete de un día, pero tiene un periodo
de validez más largo. Por el precio de un
billete de un día puede viajar en el fin de
semana, del viernes a partir de las
19.00 al lunes hasta las 04.00.
Railrunner: el billete para niños
Los niños de 4 a 11 años que viajan
acompañados de un adulto (18 años o
mayor) pueden viajar por 2,50€. Con
billetes de forma rápida y sencilla en los
distribuidores automáticos. En este caso,
no tendrá que pagar ningún recargo.

¿Dónde se venden
los billetes?
En todas las estaciones encontrará
distribuidores automáticos de billetes de NS.
En las estaciones medianas podrá comprar
los billetes también en tiendas pequeñas
llamadas Wizzl o Kiosk. En las estaciones
más grandes hay taquillas de NS.
Opciones de pago
• En las estaciones principales, puede
pagar en la máquina expendedora de
billetes con su código PIN (Maestro).
• En prácticamente todas las estaciones
hay como mínimo una máquina
expendedora de billetes en la que podrá
pagar con monedas. Las máquinas se
reconocen por su parte frontal redonda
y la ranura para monedas.
• Puede pagar en efectivo o mediante el
código PIN (Maestro) en los mostradores
de NS Tickets & Service de las estaciones
principales, si bien no se aceptan
tarjetas de crédito.
• Tanto en Schiphol como en Amsterdam
Central, podrá pagar con tarjeta de
crédito (VISA o MasterCard) en las
máquinas expendedoras de billetes y en
los mostradores de NS Tickets & Service.
• Los medios de pago aceptados por las
máquinas expendedoras de billetes
aparecen en los logotipos de medios de
pago situados a la derecha de la
pantalla de las máquinas.
• En las estaciones principales suele haber
una sucursal del banco GWK en la que
podrá realizar reintegros de efectivo,
cambiar divisas y cheques de viaje. En
dichas sucursales también encontrará
cajeros automáticos en los que podrá
realizar reintegros con tarjetas de
crédito y Bankpass internacionales.
Si adquiere los billetes en taquilla, se le
aplicará un recargo de 0,50€ por billete
por el servicio personal. Puede comprar los

Consigna para equipaje
En muchas estaciones puede guardar
su equipaje en consignas con cerraduras
electrónicas. Cuestan aproximadamente
4,00€ cada 24 horas.
Objetos perdidos
Si ha dejado por accidente su equipaje
en un tren de NS, informe de ello en una
taquilla de NS. Para que se le devuelvan
los objetos perdidos, deberá abonar una

Llevar la bicicleta en el tren
Si desea llevåar la bicicleta en el tren,
debe comprar un billete especial para la
bicicleta válido para un día (Dagkaart
Fiets), (6,00€). No obstante, el espacio en
el tren es limitado y durante las horas
punta de la mañana y de la tarde no está
permitido llevar bicicletas en el tren (salvo
en julio y agosto). Infórmese en la taquilla

Non avrete problemi di code in autostrada e non dovrete
cercare un parcheggio in una città sconosciuta.
La rete ferroviaria in Olanda
In Olanda vi sono tre tipi di treni: Intercity
(per collegamenti veloci tra le grandi città),
Sprinter (o treni locali che effettuano fermate
anche nelle stazioni più piccole) e Linea ad
alta velocità (che copre distanze più lunghe
in tempi più brevi). La maggior parte
delle stazioni è ubicata nel centro della
relativa città o cittadina. Le linee in verde
sulla cartina (pagina 4) appartengono ad
altre compagnie ferroviarie. Il vostro
biglietto NS è valido anche su queste linee.
Fyra
Fyra è un treno confortevole che viaggia
sul binario della linea ad alta velocità ed è
quindi di gran lunga il più veloce
collegamento tra Amsterdam, Schiphol,
Rotterdam e Breda.

Andata e ritorno per il fine settimana
(Weekendretour)
Un biglietto di andata e ritorno per il fine
settimana è simile a quello di andata e
ritorno in giornata ma è valido per un
periodo più esteso. Durante il fine
settimana, potrete viaggiare dalle
19.00 di venerdì alle 04.00 di lunedì per
il prezzo di un biglietto di andata e ritorno
in giornata.
Biglietto giornaliero (Dagkaart)
Con questo biglietto potrete viaggiare
un giorno intero illimitatamente per tutta
l’Olanda.
Railrunner: il biglietto per i bambini
I bambini da 4 a 11 anni d’età
accompagnati da un adulto (di almeno
18 anni) possono viaggiare pagando solo
€ 2,50. Con la tariffa Railrunner, insieme
ad ogni accompagnatore possono
viaggiare fino a un massimo di 3 bambini.
I bambini fino a 3 anni viaggiano gratuito.
