Need To Know
• El Paso completed their 3rd shutout of the roadtrip on Sunday night & improved to 5-6 on their 3-city tour with
2 more games before returning home. The Chihuahuas 8 shutouts of 2016 are the 3rd most in the Pacific Coast
League this year behind Fresno's 11 & 9 by New Orleans.
• The Chihuahuas closed out the month of July with a .293 team batting average, their lowest monthly average
since they hit .292 in April.
• Carlos Asuaje & Hector Sanchez continue to pace the El Paso offense during this 13-game roadtrip with 4 multihit games apiece. Asuaje is now tied for the PCL lead in runs scored with Hunter Renfroe at 78. Sanchez has now
deposited 3 home runs in 3 different cities over the last 11 games while all of his 10 bombs this season have been
batting left handed.
• Carlos Pimentel gained his league-leading 11th win on Sunday & became the first Chihuahuas pitcher to surpass
10 wins in a season. Pimentel closed July with a 4-1 record & 2.87 ERA while riding a streak of 12 scoreless innings
to finish the month. Of El Paso's 8 shutout wins, Pimentel has started 4 of them.
• Daniel McCutchen can also write his name in the Chihuahuas record book tonight. McCutchen's next win would
be his 19th in a Chihuahuas uniform which would match Jason Lane's club record.
• The El Paso offense if averaging just under 6 runs per game (5.9). McCutchen has allowed 6 runs or more on 7 occasions & is 2-5 when doing so. The right-hander had a 2-0, 0.38 ERA run between May 27 & June 12 over 4 starts,
but has carried a 7.73 ERA in his other 17 starts for El Paso. McCutchen has logged 9 quality starts (6 IP & 3 earned
runs allowed or fewer) & is 6-0 when he gives the Chihuahuas a quality start.
• HIT PARADE: The Chihuahuas 1,168 base hits currently have the team on pace for 1,543 hits for the 2016 season,
which would approach the modern Pacific Coast League record of 1,580 hits held by the 2000 Salt Lake Buzz. El
Paso is averaging just under 11 hits per game & would need to average 11.8 hits over their final 35 games to surpass the record. That 2000 Salt Lake team is also the last team in the league to hit over .310 for an entire season
(finished with .312 team average).
