From the Dorothy Day Ministry Center: We have begun our educational support programs for young children in non English speaking families this year with an enrollment of 60 students, twenty children in each program. The programs include “Mommy/ Daddy and Me learning English” with Diana Snyder, “Preparatory Program” for 3 and 4 year olds with Beth Mc Groarty and “Count Down to Kindergarten” with Barbara Kir‐ by. Our After School Tutoring with Linda Haines began this week as well. We are blessed with many students from different disciplines at West Chester University who assist us. We are grateful to Father John Nordeman and Daniel Pin of the Newman Cen‐ ter for their generous, Faith filled student volunteers. The children and their parents are enthusiastic learn‐ ers.and are very grateful for these opportunities to grow in knowledge and understanding. Our Educa‐ tional Support Programs are funded in part by Cath‐ olic Social Services of the Archdiocese and by gener‐ ous donations from good people like you. Brownies and Girl Scouts are looking forward to a great year. The seventh and eighth grade students are looking forward to a visit from two seminarians from St. Charles Borromeo Seminary. The Thursday ministry of Joe and Lou is to visit schools and talk about vocation awareness. Sister Mary Jo Ely, IHM, will also be in attendance to talk with the girls about vocations. September 27th is our seventh annual Silly Sox & Sneakers day to support the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund. Each year students and teachers enjoy wearing the foot apparel for a good cause. We support Michael’s team as Michael and the Eross family Walk for a Cure in October.
