Bishop Libasci Invites Catholics to Make a
Pilgrimage to Berlin
For the second year in a row, Bishop Peter A. Libasci will lead a
pilgrimage of New Hampshire Catholics to Berlin to celebrate the
Feast of Saint Anne on Friday, July 26 and to pray for an increase of
vocations to the priesthood and religious life in the Diocese of
Manchester. The pilgrimage will include vigils, concerts, Mass, and
a procession through downtown Berlin. Last year, more than 1,300
pilgrims made the journey up to Saint Anne Church in the White
Mountains to participate in the feast. Organizers expect an even
larger turnout this year. “It is really exciting to be planning this
grand event again this year,” said Rev. Jason Jalbert, Priest
Secretary to Bishop Libasci, Director of the Office of Vocations,
and a Berlin native. “Saint Anne Church in Berlin is one of the
hidden treasures of New Hampshire. But even more important than
the place’s beauty, it is a place where so many people have
encountered Christ.” Bishop Libasci has chosen to make this
pilgrimage to Berlin again in response to last year’s success. He
said, “We give thanks to Saint Anne for the many vocations to the
priesthood and religious life that have come from that wonderful
‘nest of vocations’ nestled, indeed, in the majestic White
Mountains, and to pray for many more vocations for our diocese
through her intercession.” Pilgrims can register for the event at
www.stannepilgrimage.eventbrite.com.

NH Children’s Trust, Inc., Prevent Child Abuse
NH Received a $1,500 Grant to Help Promote
their Period of PURPLE Crying Program
The Bishop’s Charitable Assistance Fund has granted $1,500 to
support the Period of PURPLE Crying Program sponsored by The
New Hampshire Children’s Trust. The Period of PURPLE Crying
is a program that educates parents about a developmental phase of
increased infant crying. The Period of PURPLE Crying program
employs a “3-dose” strategy to reach parents and the community-atlarge to bring about a cultural change in how we understand infant
crying. The program provides information on the ways to cope with
the frustration that inconsolable crying can cause as well as the
dangers of reacting to this frustration by shaking or hurting an infant.
The agency works with twelve different birthing hospitals
throughout the state to share the program with parents of
newborns. The New Hampshire Children’s Trust is the lead agency
for the elimination of child abuse and neglect in the state. The
Children’s Trust invests in evidence-based prevention strategies that
focus on the most vulnerable population – children under age three
and their families. They believe together we can make significant
strides in creating safe, stable and nurturing families and
communities, and eliminating child abuse and neglect. The New
Hampshire Children’s Trust is the Governor’s designated statewide
Community-Based Child Abuse Prevention lead agency, the New
Hampshire chapter of Prevent Child Abuse America, and a member
of the National Alliance of Children’s Trust & Prevention Funds.
Founded in 1986 it is a public charity and donations are
tax-deductible. For more information on The New Hampshire
Children’s Trust or the Period of PURPLE Crying program, visit
