Danish Drumming
Out in Århus
For some of us the celebraon had started the day
before; Annee and Tommy Kjehr had opened their
house to some “bloody foreigners". Per from Sweden, Ulli from Germany and Ellen from Norway had a
lovely evening, with cheese, good wine and good
company. The next day we travelled to Århus, some
by car and some by train. I was picked up at my Copenhagen hotel by FrankFrost - door to door service.
Great. Ulli enjoyed the train ride with 9other Senators. They were accompanied by certain "supplies" to
ensure they had a good me! The Drumming Out
started with the tradional New Year concert performed by the Århus Symphony Orchestra, whose varied programme included both classic and modern,
with some very tradional New Year elements. However, one of the soloists was firmly on the nontradional side and played some not so tradional
music. Not everybody was pleased with this. This
year’s soloists were the soprano Winnie Merete Barre and her husband the musician and entertainer
Sigurd Barre - both world famous in Denmark!

A:er the concert, lunch was served at in the tradional building of the Danish Frimurer Loge. During lunch, Ulli and Ellen from ASE, together with
Lena Ericson, Senate President in Sweden, presented outgoing President Mirella Castellano with
small token of appreciaon forthe work she had
done as Senate president. Mirella herself praised
her board and others that had helped her during
her year as Senate president. Special praise was
given to Helge Birkbo #45040 and Jorgen Jeppesen #50673. The presidenal chain was passed
Chain changing to the new President Henrik Schutze
from Mirella to the new Senate President Henrik
Schutze #37134. Mirella was given the wonderful
Danish Past President's chain. Henrik gave a short
presentaon on his vision for the New Year. One of
the most important things would be to help the Juniors to recruit new members and to urge Senators
to use "The Power of One" concept whereby every
Senator recruits at least one new member. The day
ended with coffee alhough those taking the train had
to run before the coffee to avoid missing it.
