From the Pastor
Today the parish celebrates the Feast of Saint Anne, our patron.
Devotion to St. Anne was first seen in the 5th century in the south of France and then spread
to the north of Europe. Countless works of art were created and are still found today
throughout Europe due to the fervor of this devotion. On the recent Pre-Diamond Jubilee
Pilgrimage while in Lourdes and Rome, we visited many churches that had statues dating
back to the 10th and 12th centuries. Below are photos from those periods.
Retired Priests
Msgr. Diego Conesa
French settlers, missionaries, and sailors working in
Canada brought devotion to Saint Anne where it was
widely accepted, especially at Sainte-Anne-deBeaupré, where 350 years of devotion already existed.
Saint Anne also became the patron saint of the
province of Quebec where a shrine and Basilica were
built and dedicated to Saint Anne.

Even though we know very little about the life of
Saint Anne, the simple fact of being the mother of
Mary and the grandmother of Jesus is sufficient for
the Church to recognize and worship her for
centuries. There are many testimonies and favors
recorded through the intercession of Saint Anne.
Many of the stories are about childless couples who had families following novenas to St.
Anne. One such story was about a childless couple from Loretteville, Quebec, who had
been married for 10 years. After the wife’s pilgrimage to Saint Anne and celebrating the
Sacrament of Reconciliation, she spoke to the priest of her desire to have a child. He
suggested that she visit the Blessings Office and ask for a special blessing. Ten days later
she was pregnant.
Michelle Melendez
A mother from Montreal prayed to Saint Anne along with her 14-year-old son who was
diagnosed with an incurable heart disease. Doctors informed the mother that the son had
very little time to live. At the end of April, 2007, she returned to the hospital with her son;
all symptoms had disappeared.

COME, THE LORD IS CALLING YOU!
O Good Saint Anne, our beloved patron,
Like the selfless gift of your daughter Mary to Almighty God,
You fully accepted the plan of the Father who ardently desired our salvation
Through the coming of His only-begotten Son.
To this day, your most loving response remains a beacon of light
For all walks of consecrated life, because you have answered His call
With so much joy and generosity.
Help us to respond promptly to the loving and urgent calls
Which God places into our hearts every day. Guide us. Protect us.
Provide for us physical and spiritual healing, through your all-powerful intercession.
And teach us to meditate each day on the Word of God
Who whispers within the depths of our souls:
"Come, the Lord is calling you!" Amen.

novena a Santa Ana.
Oh buena Saint Anne, nuestra amada patrona,
