Pope John Paul II established the Second Sunday of Easter as Divine Mercy Sunday. This
day recognizes the abundant mercy of God offered to us through Christ. With great faith
and joy, Pope John Paul II understood the resurrection as a “miracle of mercy,” which radically changed humanity’s destiny.

Our Lady of Good Counsel parish is a ROMAN

Through our CELEBRATION of the WORD and
SACRAMENT, and our PARTICIPATION in the LIFE OF

This devotion is rooted in the revelations to
Saint Faustina, a Polish nun canonized in April
of 2000. The familiar image of the Divine Mercy depicts two
beams of light radiating from the heart of Christ. The Divine
Mercy is especially revealed in the cross of Christ—Jesus giving his life for the salvation of all.
On this day we give
thanks for the gift of God’s mercy.
We are also called to
grow in the virtue of mercy in our relations with one another,
in particular our willingness to forgive.
EXTEND our LOVE through service;
FOSTER a sense of STEWARDSHIP.

El Papa Juan Pablo II estableció el Segundo Domingo de Pascua como el Domingo de la Divina Misericordia. Este día reconoce la abundante misericordia de Dios ofrecida a nosotros
a través de Cristo. Con gran fe y alegría, el Papa Juan Pablo
II entendió la resurrección como un “milagro de misericordia,” el cual cambió radicalmente el destino de la humanidad.

The RCIA Team who not only prepared our candidates
for the Easter sacraments but who helped them to grow
in their faith;
Monique Kusick, our maintenance workers, Scouts,
Scout leaders, and all who helped clean, polish and
decorate the church;
The Scouts and leaders who prepared the Easter Fire;
All who donated flowers for our altar. In the next week
or two we will include the names of all who were remembered with the Easter flowers;
Mr. Gusti Daija, who helped preparing and editing the
Holy Week programs; and
All who donated food, and the members of the Social
Action Committee who prepared the Easter packages;
overall 220 families were served at the Food Pantry.

In addition to the Easter gift, we received donations of $2,142
for Easter Flowers. This donation helped with the cost of
flowers for the Easter altar, palm and flowers throughout the
Easter Season.

We also received $1,775 in the Good Friday Collection. The

The Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA
(AMS) was established by Pope Saint John Paul II
in 1985, to provide the Church’s full range of pastoral ministries to those in the United States Armed
Forces. The mission of the archdiocese is to
“serve those who serve” by providing the same
pastoral care and services as any other Catholic
(arch)diocese, but to Catholics serving in the
armed forces; enrolled in military academies; undergoing treatment at any of the 153 Department
of Veterans Affairs’ Medical Centers in the United
States, Puerto Rico, and Guam; working in civilian
jobs for the federal government beyond United
States borders; and the families of these populations.
La Arquidiócesis para los Servicios Militares de los Estados
Unidos (AMS) fue establecida por el Papa San Juan Pablo II
en 1985, para proporcionar la gama completa de la Iglesia

Last year, Pope Francis told military ordinaries
from around the world that “The role of military
chaplains is to accompany and support [those in

national collection for the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA will bring the gospel, sacraments, and other forms of spiritual support to the
men and women who serve our country and defend our freedoms, including parishioners and
families from our own archdiocese.
