Paolo Orlandini è nato a Grosseto nel 1941;
si è laureato alla facoltà di Architettura del
Politecnico di Milano. Ha collaborato con lo
studio di Marco Zanuso Sr. E con Richard
Sapper. Dal 1968 lavora insieme a Roberto
Lucci nei settori dell’ufficio, della sedia e della
cucina. Oltre 3 milioni di sedie portano la
firma Lucci Orlandini Design.
Il loro approccio progettuale è basato
sull’utilizzo di modelli in scala, modelli al vero
e mockup di movimento; in generale sulla
sperimentazione diretta e concreta piuttosto
che sull’astrazione digitale.
Svolge attività didattica presso L’Istituto
Europeo di Design, l’I.S.I.A. di Roma, il
Politecnico di Milano, la Scuola Politecnica di
Design di Milano, lo IUAV di Treviso. Inoltre
è stato Visiting Professor in varie università in
Brasile e in Colombia.
Paolo Orlandini was born in Grosseto in 1941,
he graduated from the faculty of Architecture
at the Polytechnic of Milan.
He has cooperated with Marco Zanuso Sr.
and with Richard Sapper. Since 1968 he has
been working together with Roberto Lucci in
the field of office, chair and kitchen. More
than 3 million chairs bear the signature ‘Lucci
Orlandini Design’. Their design approach is
based on the use of scale models, models from
real and mockup of movement; generally
on concrete experimentation rather than on
digital abstraction.
He carries out educational activities at the
European Institute of Design, the I. S.I.A.
of Rome, the Polytechnic of Milan, the
Polytechnic School of Design of Milan, IUAV
of Treviso.
He has been also Visiting Professor at various
universities in Brazil and Colombia.
