Marin Transit and Golden Gate Transit services.
Discount fares are available for youth, seniors,
persons with disabilities, or by using a Clipper
card.
Clipper Card
You can use cash value on your Clipper card
on all Marin Transit routes except the Muir
Woods Shuttle (Route 66/66F). To use your
Clipper card, locate a card reader on the bus.
Tag your card by holding it flat against the
Clipper logo on the reader, and wait for the
beep and green light. Clipper deducts the
maximum fare from your starting zone and
then refunds the difference when you tag your
card to the card reader upon exiting.
You must tag your card upon entering AND
exiting the bus to ensure you're only charged
for the distance you travel and that Clipper
applies any appropriate discounted fares and
transfers. Adult riders will always get a 10
percent discount over paying with regular
cash. Passengers with a Youth, Senior or RTC
Clipper card receive the same 50 percent
discount they do when paying with cash.
Cash Fares
Full cash fares and 1 Day passes can be purchased with cash onboard vehicles. Change
cards valid for future travel are issued for
amounts over $1.00. Change cards have no
cash value. Advise the driver of your destination when boarding the bus and ask for a
transfer if needed when paying your fare.
Transfers
Marin County Local riders can get free transfers
between all Marin Transit and Golden Gate
Transit routes within Marin County. Advise the
driver of your destination when boarding the
bus and, if you need a transfer to continue
your trip, be sure to ask for one when paying
your fare.
Stored Value Cards
Marin Transit stored value cards are available
through Golden Gate Transit and are accepted
on all Marin Transit and Golden Gate routes,
including Shuttles and the Stagecoach. Stored
value cards replaced local tickets in 2009.
Adults receive the 10% discount fare. Seniors,
persons with disabilities, and youth receive
the standard discount fare when proper
identification is shown prior to inserting a
Value Card into the farebox.
The Value Cards are a new, easy way to pay
for your bus ride and continue to get the
"frequent rider" discount. Value Cards come
in $18 and $36 denominations and are valid
for Marin County travel only. They are similar
in size to credit cards and are printed on sturdy
paper with a magnetic strip on the back. It
is very important to keep cards clean and
dry. They should not be folded, scratched,
torn or cut. Nor should they be written on or
laminated. Value Cards are non-refundable and
not exchangeable.
To use your Value Card: Dip your Value Card
in the farebox, similar to how you use an ATM
card. The appropriate fare will be deducted
and the remaining balance will be printed on
the back of the card. Remember to retrieve
your Value Card before taking a seat. You will
always receive the appropriate discount fare
when using a Value Card.

Fares may be paid either prior to your trip or
during the day of travel. For your convenience,
tickets may be purchased through our website
with a Visa or MasterCard. If you decide to pay
for your trip at the time of travel, we accept
cash as well as personal checks. We do not
accept credit cards onboard the bus.
All of our airport buses have reclining seats,
air conditioning, overhead reading lights,
restrooms, and free Wi-Fi. We allow each
passenger two suitcases and one carry on bag.
There is a $6.00 charge for each additional bag
or suitcase. Except for service dogs and seeing
eye dogs, all animals must be in a kennel and
ride in the animal and cargo bay. There is a
$6.00 charge for each animal.
