Letter from the Director of ISDE
Mr. Juan José Sánchez Puig
The ver y etymology of the word Master embodies the philosophy underpinning ISDE’s educational objective,
where the student is the focal point and the absolute protagonist. All of our resources and effor ts are focused on
achieving this objective, which is to ensure that the student has mastered the subject matter by the end of the
programme.
Par tnerships with the leading figures in the world of law and business, a proven training method, the personal
attention of the teaching and coordination team, and all of our technical and human resources are placed at the
disposal of our students in our quest to ensure that the programmes achieve their utmost educational goals and
make the time and effor t devoted to them wor th the while.
Throughout the years, we have striven and succeeded in ensuring that our students not only acquire the most upto-date knowledge, but that they also accomplish their personal and professional development goals through the
acquisition of skills and competencies that lay the foundation for a new stage in their careers.
The sum of the effor ts of the ISDE and its students –without whose commitment the most qualified staff or
technical resources would ser ve no purpose- has made us proud to see how those who trusted us with their
training needs have gone on to enjoy highly successful careers and to occupy the senior positions they so brilliantly
and so efficiently prepared themselves for.
Loyalty to the spirit and methods that have earned us the trust of thousands of students, and continuous upgrading
and improvement of our training methods, have placed us at the forefront of our field, as evidenced by our
performance in independent rankings.
The accomplishment of these objectives in recent years has driven us to never lose sight of the fact that our goal
is the success of our students.

Admission to the Practice of Law and Specialisation
in International Law, Foreign Trade and International Relations
INTRODUCTION
We at ISDE, whose pioneering commitment to the integration of students in law firms inspired the creation of the new Masters
in Admission to the Practice of Law, believe that although the programme provides the practical training essential for the practice
of the profession, there are two aspects that it does not fully cover : specialisation and training for the practice of international
law.
Our proven experience in the field prompted us to consider the introduction of a programme that would complete the Masters
in Admission to the Practice of Law, provide with the prestigious Carlos III University of Madrid with the colaboration of ISDE.The
formula for achieving this goal for an institution of the calibre of ISDE is as simple as it is essential: the Masters in Admission to
the Practice of Law is now provided together with the best private Masters degrees, given that the specialist programmes that
ISDE has been offering for years have earned it a place in the most important Spanish and international rankings. The result is a
masters that is unique in the sector, and which has the added benefit of a second practical training stage during which the student
will become a real member of the “ecosystem” of a law firm, not a mere observer.
The combination of two highly prestigious Masters programmes, together with the specialisation and international experience that
leading law firms require today will give graduates a competitive advantage when seeking employment in the legal market.

Objective
The objective of this double Masters degree is to prepare students to meet the requirements of major law firms
today. This means providing specialised training geared towards the practice of international law. Globalisation had
had an undeniable impact on the field of law and also on the practice of law.The training of a top lawyer should
take account of the needs underlying this phenomenon, which tends to bring together the different known legal
systems through the approximation of the different legal institutions.
The progressive publification of law is giving rise to increasing legal complexity. This, in turn, creates the need for
specialists capable of meeting the demands of customers in a timely manner. And this specialisation must come
about through appropriate training in the fundamentals of law and a comprehensive over view thereof.
Accordingly, students choosing to pursue a double Masters degree will obtain a double benefit:
On the one hand, completion of the best Masters in Admission to the Practice of Law, which the prestigious Carlos
III University of Madrid with the colaboration of ISDE.This ensures that students obtain an in-depth understanding
of the practical knowledge required by the new admissions system and have a greater likelihood of passing the
national examination for admission to the profession.
On the other hand, our specialised international Masters programmes, where the student will have the oppor tunity
to be par t of a small group comprised of national and foreign students and professors, is designed to prepare
students for entr y into their choice of specialisation.
In this sense, the programme was born with a clear objective: to transmit a mechanism of legal reasoning and,
consequently, preparation in all areas of legal practice, with the aim of gradually aspiring to specialisation.
Moreover, the student will also receive instr uction in international relations and foreign trade, so necessar y
nowadays on account of the present-day world economic system.

METHODOLOGY
The Masters in Admission to the Practice of Law complies with the structure set out in Law 34/2006 of 30 October. The
academic year will be devoted to gaining the general command of the legal profession required by said law through a
programme comprised of a number of compulsory subjects and some optional intensive ones.
The faculty staff of this stage of the programme is comprised of professoriate from Carlos III University and senior
professionals from leading law firms chosen from among the staff that has spent years training ISDE students.
In addition to the Masters in Admission to the Practice of Law, students taking the double Masters will also attend classes
in their chosen area of specialisation, all of which are given by prestigious and reputable professionals from leading law
firms and using the methodology that has earned ISDE a place in the most prestigious national and international rankings.
Finally, the student receives practical work experience in his or her chosen area of specialisation within one of our partner
law firms. The work experience programme provides graduates with an opportunity for real integration into the host
company, and the student will be treated as just another member of staff right from the start.
Thanks to the double Masters, students will receive the best possible training to pass the admissions examination for the
practice of law, as well as the opportunity to work in their chosen area of specialisation within a leading national or
international law firm.

Admission requirements and criteria
Admission and acceptance profile:
The basic requirement for admission to the double masters is to have obtained, or to be in the process of obtaining, prior to the commencement of the course, a
Bachelor of Law degree, a BA in Law or other BA degree attesting that the applicant has the skills laid down
in Article 3.2 of the regulation implementing the Spanish
Law on Admission to the Practice of Law. Furthermore,
in accordance with the provisions of the university regulation, applications will also be considered from foreign
students with degrees to accredit the skills set out in Article 3 of the aforementioned Law.
Native Spanish-speakers will be required to have a good
command of spoken and written English and non-Spanish speaking applicants will have to demonstrate that
their knowledge of spoken and written Spanish is at
least equivalent to the B2 DELE level (Diploma de Español como lengua extranjera) awarded by the Instituto
Cervantes. Applicants with basic language skills, but
which do not meet the minimum levels required may be
provisionally accepted on condition that they take an intensive course in the relevant language to achieve the
minimum required level.
Foreign students should bear in mind that the Ministry

decision as to their possible participation in the entrance examination and the practice of the profession in
Spain.
Applications may be sent electronically or by ordinary
mail. Applications and the required documentation
should be sent to the email or postal address of ISDE's
Admissions Department.
The decision to admit an applicant rests with the Masters Academic Committee.
Students will be selected on the basis of the documentation provided with the application. This will include:

or the appropriate certificate. Applicants who are currently completing their final year of study and expect to
graduate before the deadline for registration must indicate the graduation date in their application form and

taken into consideration when assessing their application.
Carlos III University of Madrid and ISDE do not initially
intend to set any special entrance examination for admission to the Masters. Nevertheless, depending on the
number of applications received, the Masters Academic
Commission may decide to set a specific written examination consisting of a questionnaire with a number of
multiple-choice questions, the content of which will be
related to the legal skills set out in Article 3 of the regulation implementing Law 34/2006.
The Commission will prepare:
- A list of the students admitted
