The Year
of Faith
The Ascension
of the Lord
May 12, 2013
The Lord Jesus takes his place in
the Kingdom and continues to
guide and shepherd us. The
Church’s prayer, especially this
week before Pentecost, seeks the
gifts of the Holy Spirit, everything
we need to be faithful in our use
of God’s gifts, generous in our
service to one another.
”You will be my witnesses in
Jerusalem,
throughout Judea and Samaria,
and to the ends of the earth.”

Fundraising for Christ Cathedral renovation
and Pastoral Services Appeal 2013
Many of our parishes are currently involved in the
Capital Campaign for these important efforts. St. Pius
V will be conducting that Campaign in the fall of
2013 with other parishes as well.
As Father Ted announced last November, when we
conduct the Campaign we will raise funds for the
diocesan efforts and receive a portion for our own
projects. We plan to use our portion of the funds to
refurbish the statues of our Saints, to reupholster the
chairs in the Chapel and, if funds are sufficient, to
install solar panels to help lower our electrical costs.
Please take a tour of our future Christ Cathedral soon
and pray about your gift to this effort.
Grief, Loss & Healing

Next meeting is Monday, May 20 at 7:30 pm.
When someone we love dies, we are sent on a lonely and even
painful journey.
We meet every 1st and 3rd Monday of each month (except
holidays and holy days of obligation) at 7:30 pm, upstairs in room
“C”.
For information, contact: John Alba at 714-522-2193

Adults to be Confirmed at the 5;15 pm
Mass next Saturday, May 18
Next Saturday is the Vigil of Pentecost.
Some adult members of our parish will be
confirmed at the 5:15 pm Mass.
The Sacrament of Confirmation “is called
Confirmation because it confirms and
strengthens baptismal grace.” “The effect of
Confirmation is a special outpouring of the Holy Spirit like that
of Pentecost. This outpouring impresses on the soul an indelible
character and produces a growth in the grace of Baptism. It
roots the recipient more deeply in divine sonship, binds him
more firmly to Christ and to the Church and reinvigorates the
gifts of the Holy Spirit in his soul. It gives a special strength to
witness to the Christian faith.” (Compendium of the Catechism
of the Catholic Church Nos. 266, 268)
The Vigil of Pentecost is not as extended a celebration as the
Easter Vigil but it will take a little longer than a usual Saturday
evening mass so please plan accordingly.

¿A qué esperas?
¿A qué esperamos nosotros?

—San Juan Climacus
Eventualmente
se
paso
a
muchas
naciones
latinoamericanas.
Muchas
culturas
latinoamericanas
