The second semester has begun! We have had an incredibly busy first semester, and I predict the flurry of activities will
not slow down until June 4th. As we wrap up the first semester I would like you to be aware of meetings we will be having
with your student. If your child is on our academic, behavioral, or attendance concern list we will meet with them during
the month of January to help them refocus and plan for success in the remainder of the year.
We will also be inviting students to attend after school tutorials and Saturday School if we believe they are in need of help
to pass their classes and/or their STAAR tests. Your child would not be invited if their teacher did not feel it was needed.
Please help us help your child and make sure they are in attendance at those sessions, as well as making sure they are at
school EVERY day.
As always, the staff and I would like to tell you how much we enjoy spending our days (and evenings) with your child. If
there is any way we can help your son or daughter, do not hesitate to call their Counselor, Assistant Principal, or myself.
Our teamwork will help your child be successful!

Second semester is a very busy time in the counseling office. Students going into 6 th-8th will be given course request sheets
during the 4th 6 weeks, please make sure these are returned in a timely manner to allow accurate schedules for next school
year. Counselors will also be visiting with at risk students to create and revise their Personal Graduation Plans throughout
the second semester. We appreciate you taking an active role in your student’s education at Irma Marsh and have many
opportunities for you in the near future. 8th Grade Parent Night will be February 17 at 6PM in the CHS auditorium to discuss
pathways and transitions to high school.
We are also in search of volunteers, please contact the counseling office if you would like to volunteer in any way. We look
forward to seeing you at Irma Marsh!

The State of Texas 2013—2014 School Report Card for Irma Marsh
Middle School is available on our campus webpage. If you would like
a paper copy of the report you can retrieve one in the front office.
This is a report required by the Texas Legislature and prepared by
the Texas Education Agency. It is to inform a parent or guardian of
every child enrolled in a Texas public school. The report provides
information concerning student performance on the State of Texas
Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR), as well as information
on student enrollment, class size averages, and financial expenditures.

¡El Segundo Semestre ha comenzado! Hemos tenido un primer semestre increíblemente ocupado y yo predigo que las actividades
no van a parar hasta el 4 de Junio. Al concluir el primer semestre quisiéramos hacerles saber acerca de las reuniones que tendremos con su estudiante. Si su estudiante está en nuestra lista de preocupación académica, conductual o de asistencia nos reuniremos con él/ella durante el mes de Enero para ayudarle a enfocarse y a planificar para que puedan tener éxito durante el resto del
año.
También estaremos invitando a los estudiantes a que asistan a tutorías después de escuela y a Escuela Sabatina si pensamos que
necesitan ayuda para pasar sus clases o sus exámenes STAAR. Su hijo(a) no será invitado(a) si su maestro(a) no piensa que es
necesario. Por favor ayúdenos a ayudar a su estudiante y asegúrese de que asistan a estas sesiones, así como a que estén en la
escuela CADA día.
Como siempre, el personal y yo quisiéramos decirles lo mucho que disfrutamos pasar nuestros días (y tardes) con su hijo(a). Si
podemos ayudar a su hijo(a) de cualquier otra forma, no dude en llamar a su Consejero(a), a la Asistente de la Directora o a mí.

El Segundo Semestre es un tiempo muy difícil en la oficina de consejería. A los estudiantes que vayan a 6to-8vo se les entregarán
formularios de solicitud de asignaturas durante las 4tas 6 semanas, por favor asegúrese de que éstos sean retornados a tiempo
para permitir que se puedan establecer los horarios para el siguiente año escolar. Los consejeros también se estarán reuniendo con
los estudiantes que estén en riesgo para crear y revisar sus Planes Personales de Graduación durante el segundo semestre. Apreciamos su rol activo en la educación de su estudiante en Irma Marsh. Tendremos muchas oportunidades para usted en el futuro cercano. La Noche de Padres de 8vo Grado será el 17 de febrero, a las 6PM en el Auditorio de CHS para poder discutir la transición a la
escuela secundaria.
