Dear Parishioners,
The Wind And The Sea
Living along the shores of Lake Superior—the “big lake,” as the locals
call it—you can often hear the advice, “Respect the lake; don’t take it for granted.” People who know Lake Superior respect its power and watch out for its
many moods. Sunken ships and boats crushed into kindling are testimonies to
what the lake can do.
The readings of this Sunday evoke our memories of the lake, of the
mighty Mississippi River, or of the ocean itself. Who but God can control these
mighty waters and set limits to their advance? The lake described in today’s
Gospel was a body of water subject to sudden storms and churned into dangerous waves by terrible winds.
But these mighty agents are subject to God. The sailor and the fisher all
respect the water. Even more, they respect the awesome power of the Maker of
wind and sea.

We are in desperate need of Catechists!
We are in need of new catechists for our
Religious Educa on program. Anyone can
volunteer and we will train you. We also need teens to serve as teacher’s aids.
Community Service hours will be granted. Our Religious Educa on Program is
made possible through the me and talents of many volunteers. Everyone plays a
very special role in bringing the knowledge of Jesus Christ to our children and
teens of St. Martha Parish through this very important ministry.

PARISH HALL TO BE FUMIGATED
The Parish Hall will be fumigated beginning Monday,
June 22nd through Wednesday, June 24th. This
means that groups meeting on Monday through
Wednesday will not be able to meet. If ministries
have food stored in the Hall, prior to fumigation.
Coordinators are asked that they remove them and
store elsewhere temporarily. The Parish Office, as a
consequence, will be closed. However, phone calls
coming in during normal business hours will be
forwarded to another phone for proper handling.

Estimados Feligreses
El Viento Y El Mar
Los que conocen bien el Lago Superior le tienen un saludable respeto, y
siempre están alerta sobre sus caprichosos cambios de ánimo. Muchos barcos hundidos y
muchos botes hechos astillas son testigos de lo que el lago puede hacer cuando está de mal
humor.
Las lecturas de este domingo nos evocan memorias de ese lago, del poderoso río
Mississippi o del océano mismo. ¿Quién, fuera de Dios, podrá controlar esas aguas poderosas, o imponerles límites, diciendo “Hasta aquí llegarás”? El lago que describe el Evangelio de hoy era un lago en el que se levantaban súbitas tormentas, en las que los vientos
huracanados agitaban olas enormes.
Pero estas fuerzas tan poderosas se someten a la voluntad de Dios. Los marineros
y los pescadores le tienen un saludable respeto al poder de las aguas. Pero más todavía
respetan el poder del Creador del viento y del mar.

SALON PARROQUIAL SERA FUMIGADO
El Salón Parroquial será fumigado comenzando
Lunes, 22 de junio hasta el miércoles 24 de junio.
Esto significa que los grupos que se reúnen de
lunes a miércoles no se podrán reunir. A los
ministerios que tienen alimentos almacenados en la
cocina se les pide que coordinen para llevarse estos
alimentos y los guarden en otro lugar antes de la
fumigación. A consecuencia la oficina de la
parroquia se cerrará. Sin embargo, las llamadas
telefónicas se enviarán a otro teléfono durante el
horario normal para un manejo adecuado.

Cambiar Dinero Para La Colecta
Con efecto inmediato, a los ujieres ya no se les permite
cambiar dinero a los feligreses. A los feligreses se les
ruega tener en cuenta, si no está ya, registrarse en la
parroquia por lo que el uso del sistema de sobres
puede animar a los feligreses a venir de antemano con
la cantidad correcta de dinero en efectivo o cheque
para la colecta semanal. Los feligreses que necesiten
cambiar efectivo
pueden visitar nuestra
tienda de regalos
durante las horas
normales de funcionamiento y obtener
el cambio antes de
comenzar la misa.
