Kingsbury. The Strategic Plan was to cover five years from 2011-2016. I am pleased to report that although we are in the fourth year of the Plan, much of the work has already been completed. Below is a much abbreviated list of things that the Strategic Plan has accomplished over the last four years. I hope to give further details and information in the next issue of the Moorings publication. My special thanks to the many parishioners and the hours of work that went into developing this strategic plan. I have asked the Pastoral Council to begin considering a Steering Committee and some ideas for the next Strategic Plan. LITURGY: • Purchase of a new organ; • A new projector system in Seelos Hall; •A review of the music ministry; • Catechesis on the revised Mass text that was initiated several years ago. OUTREACH: • Continued support of St. Vincent de Paul society including the Winter Relief for the homeless; • Continued support of the Light House Shelter included bi-annual food drives; • Continued support of the Maryland Catholic Conference’s legislative priorities. INCLUSION: • Outreach to all new and inactive parishioners with a renewed welcome message; • A Welcome Mass for all new parishioners. FAITH FORMATION: • Developed an evening Bible study for adults; • Increased promotion of Adoration Chapel; • There has been a great effort to strengthen the young adult ministry; there are now two youth ministers and monthly events to attract this demographic (Theology on Tap, Eucharistic Holy Hour with confession, etc.). VOCATIONS: • Traveling Chalice is offered to families at the 8:00am Family Mass; this has been very successful; • There are video links on the St. Mary’s web site of various Redemptorist priests sharing their vocation stories, along with a new novice to the IHM convent; • The Redemptorist Vocations Director, Fr. Richard Bennett, has come to visit the schools and religious education classes to talk about vocations. STEWARDSHIP: • An event was held to educate ministry leaders on fundraising, communications, and volunteer recruitment. • The Facilities Master Plan was updated; • Capital Campaign raised $5.9 million in documented pledges. New plans are being developed for the Early Learning Center and Team House which hopefully open in the fall 2016; • The Alumni Association Board was formed and is very successful in reaching out to alumni; • Established a Planned Giving Program. DISCIPLESHIP: • Effort is ongoing to match new parishioners or others who have expertise in a particular area with the appropriate ministry; • Actively inviting parishioners to become volunteers during the fall Stewardship weekend; • A comprehensive welcome packet was prepared and is given to new parishioners; • A Ministries and Organizations brochure was created and is widely distributed; • New signs are enhanced lighting have been installed throughout the campus. COMMUNICATIONS: • A style guide was created for St. Mary’s parish and is used throughout the parish community; • A communications plan was created to better promote events and news within the parish and schools; • An alumni e-newsletter was created and is distributed on a quarterly basis. Annapolis, Maryland Parish Library In "Hildegard, The Last Year," Barbara Lachman has written a dazzling fictional work of historical imagination. She is so intuitively and authentically linked to Hildegard, that she can evoke the tone as well as the content of the visionary's world. This is a very accurate portrait of the medieval mind. This book is available in the Fiction section of the SJN Parish Library. As much as we appreciate your donations to our church libraries, due to limited storage space we are no longer able to accept donations of non-religious material, until our book sale in the Fall.
