Dear Friends of Holy Spirit,
As we move into the final stages of summer, I am
spending a few days with all my siblings (and their
spouses) at a family reunion. All nine of us should be
there and I’m sure there will be the telling and re-telling
of family stories. Since Mom passed away two years
ago, we are doing an annual reunion. I have brothers
and sisters in Florida, North Carolina, Kentucky, Pennsylvania and Indiana, so these reunions are important.
Sometimes we have volunteers who serve in a certain
capacity for many years. This is true for Jim McNulty
who has been the chair of the C.Y.O. sports program for
over 20 years. Anyone who is involved with C.Y.O.
sports knows how many volunteer hours are needed to
run the many activities. I want to thank Jim for his guidance and steady leadership throughout these years of
service. I know many young people of this parish who
knew him as coach and leader, are thankful to him also.
Thank you, Jim!
Jim will continue on the C.Y.O. Committee and will
continue to be involved in the program. His leadership
position is being assumed by Niki Adamson who spent
this past year assisting Jim. Niki, a lifelong member of
Holy Spirit Parish and the mother of three active children, brings her gifts of communication, organization &
vision to the program. We welcome her to the program!
Thank you also, to the many coaches and administrators who give so much time to our youth through our
sports program. Athletic activity teaches us much about
hard work, discipline, team work and striving to do our
best. So often when I am giving a homily for a school
Mass, I will use athletics as an example of a spiritual gift
or trait. When we lead children well, C.Y.O. sports can
bless these young people for a lifetime. Thank you to all
our volunteers in C.Y.O. sports.
God’s Blessings and Love,
HOLY SPIRIT – PARISH SUPPORT
THANK YOU FOR YOUR GIFTS!

School Volunteers Needed!
Holy Spirit School will soon be back
in session. Our School Volunteers
have had a wonderful year working
with students in the classroom during
the 90 minute reading block. We read
to or with the students in grades K-4 once a week or once
every other week. Besides our work in school our group also
occasionally meets for breakfast or lunch and this summer
we are taking a trip to Terre Haute to visit some museums
and have lunch. We have found this group to be a great way
to help Holy Spirit School and spend time
with a group of really nice parishioners.
If you would be interested in joining our
School Volunteer Group, please call

CATHOLIC CHARITIES NEWS
Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Indianapolis has
recently added to its tagline, “Serving All” to now read:
“Providing Help. Creating Hope. Serving All”. It has always
been the case, but we wanted to provide clarity about the fact
that you don’t have to be Catholic to receive our services. In
fact we often say in jest, that “we serve everyone, EVEN
Catholics” to drive home the message that just like Jesus did,
you only have to be a person in need to receive care and
compassion. www.archindy.org/cc/index.html
