Saint Joseph Parish Mission Statement
We, the people of Saint Joseph Parish, by the grace of God,
born again in the waters of Baptism, seek to create a
community where our mutual faith in Jesus as Lord and
Savior, encourages us to continue growing as disciples. We
believe that discipleship is a way of life. We strive to show
that we are committed disciples, eager to welcome the
stranger, feed the hungry, shelter the homeless, and comfort
the bereaved. Inspired by God’s word and nourished by the
Eucharist, we pledge ourselves to active discipleship all for
God’s greater glory and honor.

GOSPEL QUESTION of the Week of March 1, 2015 Gospel:
Mk 9, 2-10
Remember to answer both questions. Please write clearly.
Listen and Reflect:
What color was the garment of Jesus during the transfiguration?
Living the Gospel:
From the cloud came a voice, “This is my beloved Son. Listen to him.”
Tell us the way you get to listen to God:
GETTING TO KNOW OUR CATECHISTS
MICHAEL ADRIANCE.
My name is Michael Adriance, an 8 grade catechist on Tuesday nights. I have
been in St. Joseph Parish for over 30 years. My three children went to school at St. Joseph and in the past my wife, Patty
Fitzgerald Adriance, taught there for 7 years. I grew up in the Catholic faith. There were so many people in my life who
gave a wonderful witness to the merciful love that our God has for us. I have been blessed so I wanted to share with others
what has been shared with me.
When I began teaching as a catechist I had no background in teaching. I’ve received training along the way. I prayed that
God would work through me. I pray for my students. I pray that they may come to know that our merciful God loves us
with a passionate love. He yearns for us with a burning desire. This is the message that I try to teach my students. I pray
for others to come forward to share their talents and gifts as well. Hear the call of God and respond. He will do the rest.
MICHAEL ADRIANCE.
He venido a San Jose mas de treinta años.
He sido bendecido.
catequizar no tenia experiencia.

TUITION ANGEL FUND
As we know, the downturn of the economy in recent
years has had a tremendous impact on all of us. Many families
who have students in Catholic schools feel the ever increasing
pressures of meeting their family's needs along with the additional
impact of tuition.
We here at Saint Joseph Academy have established a
"Tuition Angel Fund". The purpose of the fund is to help families
who are struggling financially yet are committed to providing their
child(ren) with a Catholic education. We look to our parishioners
to help us keep this vital resource available to the young families of
our parish. Please consider making regular donations to this fund
knowing that you are helping spread the word of God through your
generosity by supporting some very needy families and their children in Saint Joseph Academy. Donations may also be made in
memory of a loved one or a friend with an acknowledgement being sent to their family. We even have children that look to share
their blessings by asking their families to make donations to the
"Tuition Angel" fund instead of receiving presents at birthdays,
holidays, etc.
Also, if your resources are such, please consider
"adopting" a student, thus supporting a student(s) by paying all or
part of the monthly tuition. We have many single parents
and families who desperately would like their child to attend Saint
Joseph Academy but do not have the resources to pay. Please feel
free to add your check to the weekly Vestibule Area-lection basket
in an envelope clearly marked "Tuition Angel" or contact the
school office for more information at 201-487-8641. May God
bless your generosity. Your donations can truly make a difference
in a young child's life.

LISTEN AND FOLLOW
“This is my beloved Son. Listen to him.” And listen
they did. From that moment on, Peter, James, and John were
ardent followers, forsaking everything to follow in their
Master’s footsteps. Like the psalmist crying, “O Lord, I am
your servant,” the three disciples committed themselves to
lives of incredible hardship and indescribable joy. After that
day on the mountain, they never again wavered in their
chosen vocation.
Though our tests may not be as severe as Abraham’s
and our peak experiences not as dramatic as the
Transfiguration, we all face the daily challenges of walking
“before the Lord in the land of the living.” As we follow our
varied calls to love and serve, let’s be comforted by Paul’s
reminder to the Romans: “If God is for us, who can be
against us?” Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.
ESCUCHA Y SIGUE
Mientras
seguimos nuestros diversos llamados a amar y servir, seamos

Hopefully, you are having a blessed Lent. Whether
taking extra time for prayer, going to daily Mass or taking part
of the special offerings of the parish this Lent we hope that you
are experiencing the Lord’s presence in a deeper way. Just a
reminder, all our parish activities are posted on our new parish
website www.stjosephbogota.com.
Sunday through Tuesday nights this week we will be
having our parish mission. Fr. Robert Jalbert, our mission
preacher, will be sharing with us Pope Francis’ message that
we become a community of missionary disciples. Please make
every effort to come and invite your friends and neighbors, it
promises to be a special time for our parish community.
Tuesday night will also include the first of two Parish Reconciliation services.
As you might expect the winter hit us hard again in the
parish. With all the snow and freezing temperature the last
month it has affected us financially. With less people in
Church and the added expense of snow removal and heat it
makes paying the bills more difficult. If you could make up for
the Sundays you were not able to come or be a bit more
generous it would be of much help and very appreciated.

Bogota/Teaneck Knights of Columbus Celebrate
Memorial Mass for Deceased Members
On February 16, a memorial Mass was celebrated at the
Chief Justice White Council’s hall, to honor the memory of all our
deceased Knights, and to ask for God’s blessings on, and guidance
for the current members of the Knights of Columbus. This mass
has been celebrated, annually, since 1961.
The mass was celebrated by Fr. Tim Graff, the Knights’
Chaplain, and was attended by member Knights, as well as family
of those Knights being honored. This year’s mass was also celebrated in honor of Past Grand Knight and 35 year member of the
Order, Frank Tutelo, who passed away on January 27.

Con suerte, usted está teniendo un bendito
Cuaresma.
vamos a tener nuestra misión parroquial.

A COMMUNITY OF MISSIONARY DISCIPLES
PARISH MISSION MARCH 1-3
Fr. Robert Jalbert, a Maryknoll missioner, will be offering our Lenten Parish Mission March 1-3. His theme will be
“Called To Be a Community of Missionary Disciples” based on
the encyclical “The Joy of the Gospel” by Pope Francis. Fr. Jalbert
will preach all the weekend Masses on Feb.28-March 1 and then
we will have a reflection each evening at 7:30. Each session will
be 45 minutes long (30 minutes speaking, 15 minutes Q&A).
Tuesday evening will include one of our 2 Parish Penance Services. Please plan on taking advantage of this special time to be
with the Lord during our Lenten journey.
