Prayer for Priests – Most gracious Heavenly Father, we thank you for our faithful
priests and bishops whose spiritual fatherhood and example of fidelity, self-sacrifice,
and devotion is so vital to the faith of your people. May our spiritual fathers be guided
by the example of St. John Vianney. Give them valiant faith in the face of confusion
and conflict, hope in the time of trouble and sorrow, and steadfast love for you, for
their families, and for all your people throughout the world. May the light of your Truth shine through their lives and their good works,
assist all spiritual fathers, that through your Grace they may steadily grow in holiness and in knowledge and understanding of your
truth. May they generously impart this knowledge to those who rely on them, through Christ our Lord. Amen.

“My child, remember that you received what was good during your lifetime while Lazarus like-wise
received what was bad; but now he is comforted here, whereas you are tormented. Moreover, between us
and you a great chasm is established…” LUKE 16:25-26
When God created the world He declared that it was good and He gave it to all mankind for us to enjoy. However, over the
years we have created a chasm between those who have great gifts and those who do not. In today’s Gospel we see that
with our own generosity we must bridge that gap between those who have much and those who have little or we may find
ourselves on the wrong side of the chasm in the next life.

PRAYER OF POPE
FRANCIS FOR THE
JUBILEE
Lord Jesus Christ,
you have taught us to
be merciful like the
heavenly Father, and
have told us that whoever sees you
sees Him. Show us your face and we
will be saved. Your loving gaze
freed Zacchaeus and Matthew from
being enslaved by money; the
adulteress and Magdalene from
seeking happiness only in created
things; made Peter weep after his
betrayal, and assured Paradise to the
repentant thief. Let us hear, as if
addressed to each one of us, the
words that you spoke to the
Samaritan woman: “If you knew the
gift of God!”
You are the visible face of the
invisible Father, of the God who
manifests his power above all by
forgiveness and mercy: let the
Church be your visible face in the
world, its Lord risen and glorified.
You willed that your ministers
would also be clothed in weakness
in order that they may feel
compassion for those in ignorance
and error: let everyone who
approaches them feel sought after,
loved, and forgiven by God.
Send your Spirit and consecrate
every one of us with its anointing,
so that the Jubilee of Mercy may be
a year of grace from the Lord, and
your
Church,
with renewed
enthusiasm, may bring good news to
the poor, proclaim liberty to
captives and the oppressed, and
restore sight to the blind.
We ask this through the intercession
of Mary, Mother of Mercy, you who
live and reign with the Father and
the Holy Spirit forever and ever.
Amen.
Oración oficial para el
Jubileo
de
la
Misericordia
Señor Jesucristo, tú
nos has enseñado a
ser misericordiosos
como el Padre del
cielo, y nos has dicho que
quien te ve, lo ve también a Él.
Muéstranos tu rostro y obtendremos
la salvación. Tu mirada llena de
amor liberó a Zaqueo y a Mateo de
la esclavitud del dinero; a la
adúltera y a la Magdalena del
buscar la felicidad solamente en
una creatura; hizo llorar a Pedro
luego de la traición, y aseguró el
Paraíso al ladrón arrepentido. Haz
glorioso. Tú has querido que
también tus ministros fueran
revestidos de debilidad para que
sientan sincera compasión por los
que se encuentran en la ignorancia
o en el error: haz que quien se
acerque a uno de ellos se sienta
esperado, amado y perdonado por
Dios.
Manda tu Espíritu y conságranos a
Seigneur
JésusChrist, toi qui nous
as appris à être miséricordieux
comme le Père céleste, et nous as
dit que te voir, c’est Le voir.
Montre-nous ton visage, et nous
serons sauvés. Ton regard rempli
d’amour a libéré Zachée et
Matthieu de l’esclavage de
l’argent, la femme adultère et
Madeleine de la quête du bonheur
à travers les seules créatures ; tu
as fait pleurer Pierre après son
reniement, et promis le paradis au
larron repenti.
Tu as voulu que tes
serviteurs soient eux aussi
habillés de faiblesse pour ressentir
une vraie compassion à l’égard de
ceux qui sont dans l’ignorance et
l’erreur : fais que quiconque
s’adresse à l’un d’eux se sente
attendu, aimé, et pardonné par
Dieu.
Amen
