DRESS CODE POLICY
Dear Parent/Guardian:
As stated in the district handbook, it is the responsibility of both parents and
schools to develop socially responsible dress and grooming in order to create
a positive and safe learning environment. We have copied the section from
the MUSD parent/student handbook, and encourage you to discuss this with
your student.
Student Dress
The Governing Board of the Manteca Unified School
District believes that it is a responsibility of the schools and
parents to develop socially responsible standards of dress
and personal grooming. The Board further directs that the
schools maintain standards of dress and grooming that
support a positive and safe learning environment.
Accordingly, the Board of Education requires that the
student's clothing shall not (BP 5132):

create a safety hazard for the student or others;
be disruptive of school operations and the educational
process in general;
be offensive or unusually distracting to others;
convey profane, offensive language, or illustrations;
be contrary to the law
advertise alcoholic beverages, tobacco products, or
controlled substance; or
include any apparel, jewelry, accessory, notebook or
manner of grooming which by virtue of its color,
arrangement, trademark, or any other attribute
suggests gang membership (i.e., caps, rags, sagging
pants, or clothing with gang lettering and messages).
Examples of Unacceptable Clothing or Attire
•
Short shorts or skirts which are above mid-thigh
length.
• Tank tops or crop tops, tube tops, halter tops, open
sided shirts, net or see-through shirts, attire exposing
too much cleavage, or midriff, or exposing underwear
•
Sagging pants
•
Clothing or buttons with profane, racial, or other
disruptive words or graphics that promote hate or
illegal items for others.
• Jewelry which could cause harm to the student or
others.
• Red and blue shoelaces.
• Headbands or belt buckles with punched out letters.
• Hats that are not approved by the school site.
• Blue or red belts.
• More than one blue or red article of clothing
(excluding jeans).
Any student whose dress is in violation of the District dress
code will be referred to the administration. Parents will be
contacted in order to assist in correcting the problem.
Dress Code Violations:
Violations of the dress code will result in progressive discipline which may
include a referral to administration and may lead up to suspension.

Estimados Padres/Guardianes:

Ejemplos de ropa o indumentaria que es inaceptable
El Consejo de administración del distrito escolar de
Manteca considera que es una responsabilidad de la escuela
y los padres para elaborar normas sociales responsables del
vestir y cuidado personal. La Junta indica que la escuela
mantener estãndares de vestir y peinado que apoyan un
entorno de aprendizaje seguro y positive. En consecuencia,
la Junta de EducaciOn requiere que la ropa del estudiante
no se (BP 5132):
crear un riesgo de seguridad para ci estudiante u otros;

ser perjudiciales para las operaciones de la escuela y el
•
proceso educativo en general;
•
ser ofensiva o inusualmente distraer a los demãs;
• transmitir lenguaje profano ofensivo, o ilustraciones;
•
ser contraria a la ley;
• hacer publicidad de bebidas alcohólicas, productos de
tabaco o sustancia; o
•
Incluir cualquier prendas de vestir, joyerIa, accesorio,
cuaderno o manera de arreglarse en virtud de su color,
acuerdo, marca, o cualquier otro atributo que sugiera
ser miembros de pandillas (gorra, trapos, pantalones
sueltos o ropa con letras y mensajes de pandillas).

Pantalón corto o faldas que están por encima de medio
muslo de largo.
•
Biusas de tirantes o cortas, blusas de tube, blusas
halter, camisas abiertas, r camisetas de red o que se
yea a través, ropa exponiendo demasiado escote, o
estómago, o exponer la ropa interior.

Más de un articulo azul o rojo de prendas de vestir
(excluyendo jeans).
Cualquier estudiante que viole el código de vestir del
Distrito se referirã a la administración. Se pondrá en
contacto con los padres con el fin de ayudar a corregir el
problema.
Violaciones del Código de Vestir:
Las violaciones del código de vestir resultarán en disciplina progresiva que puede incluir una
referenda a la administración y puede llevar a suspension.
