The purpose of this correspondence is to celebrate Lake View High School and update families of important items in preparation for September 8th, 2015, the first day of school. As Chicago’s Premier Neighborhood High School, we celebrated many accomplishments last year, including the following: Success in 2014-‐2015 •

Rated “Well Organized” on the 5Essentials Survey (University of Chicago Consortium on School Research) 781 total college acceptances from the Class of 2015's 253 students (An average of 3 college acceptances per student, including an acceptance to Princeton University and 118 students accepted to DePaul University) Microsoft sponsored paid Summer Internships for LVHS Students Wildcats Baseball Team finished 2nd Place in the CPS City Championship Ongoing student involvement in the local and broad community (Including relationships with Lakeview businesses, volunteering with neighborhood associations, and visits to the White House for several students and staff) As we continue to improve Chicago’s Premier Neighborhood High School together, I encourage you to share the many stories of pride from LVHS and join us through various family involvement opportunities in the school. Students begin classes on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 and end on Tuesday, June 21, 2016. This year, LVHS will start school at 8:15am and dismiss at 3:27pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. LVHS will start school at 8:15am and dismiss at 3:11pm on Wednesday. Students should always arrive to school before 8:00am every day. Family, Parents, and Guardians are strongly encouraged to attend the “Title I Parent Advisory Council Organizational Meeting” on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at 6:30pm. (This is an opportunity for parents and families to meet the principal and learn about funds available to support the needs of LVHS parents / families.) ALL parents/guardians are encouraged to visit cps.edu/parent to sign up with “Parent Portal” to receive automatic alerts to phone/email when their student is late to class or experiencing lower/higher grades in a class. In October, LVHS will provide parents with “student pin numbers” in-‐person by visiting the “Attendance Office 135.” I look forward to continuing to support our students and families at Lake View High School in our mission to foster honor, ownership, mastery, and education through learning opportunities for all students in preparation for college, career, and community commitment. El propósito de esta correspondencia es celebrar a nuestra escuela Lake View y actualizar a las familias acerca de elementos importantes en preparación al 08 de septiembre del 2015, el primer día de clases. Como Escuela Destacada de Chicago, celebramos muchos logros el año pasado, incluyendo los siguientes: El éxito en 2014-‐2015 • Calificación de "bien organizado" en la Encuesta 5Essenciales ( Conducida por la Universidad de Chicago Consorcio de Investigación Escolar) • Un total de 781 aceptaciones universitarias de 253 alumnos de la Clase 2015 (un promedio de 3 aceptaciones universitarias por alumno, incluyendo una aceptación a la Universidad de Princeton y 118 estudiantes aceptados en la Universidad DePaul) • Nuestro patrocinador Microsoft pagó pasantías de verano para estudiantes de LVHS • El Equipo de Béisbol terminó segundo lugar en el Campeonato de la Ciudad de CPS • Continúa participación de nuestros estudiantes en la comunidad local y a nivel de distrito (incluyendo relaciones con las empresas de Lakeview, voluntariado con asociaciones de vecinos, y visitas a la Casa Blanca para varios estudiantes y personal docente) A medida que juntos continuamos mejorando nuestra Escuela como la más Destacada en Chicago, los animo a compartir las muchas historias de orgullo de LVHS y a unirse a nosotros a través de varias oportunidades de participación familiar en la escuela. (Esta es una oportunidad para que los padres y familias conozcan al director y aprendan sobre los fondos disponibles para apoyar las necesidades de los padres/ familias de LVHS.) • Se anima a todos los padres y tutores a visitar el sitio web cps.edu/parent para registrase en el "Portal de Padres" para recibir alertas automáticas de teléfono/correo electrónico cuando su estudiante llega tarde a clase o experimenta grados bajos /altos en una clase.
