I come to gather nations of every language;
They shall come and see my glory.
Let us look at todayǯs readings in light of
the fact that we are celebrating a year of Godǯs
mercy. The opening antiphon for todayǯs Mass
(Which we do not pray because we sing an
opening song) includes the phrase: Have mercy
on me, my God. At the preparation of the gifts we
will sing ǲLoving and Forgiving are you, O Godǳ.
And yet in the Gospel, Jesus outlines
several rejections of those who are not saved. At
first this may seem like a contradiction of Godǯs
mercy. I believe this is because we sometimes
interpret mercy to mean that we can do anything
and God will look the other way.
However, man was made for Godǯs glory,
as indicated in the first reading from Isaiah. And
Godǯs glory demands ǲclean vesselsǳ.
So God does not look away when we sin;
he beckons us to return to him with contrition
and sorrow. That is when his great mercy is
always available.
During this week, let us take our psalm
refrain with us in our hearts.
Go out to all the world and spread the good news.

¿LA PRESENTACIÓN O EL BAUTSMO
DE UN BEBÉ?
Mucha gente entro los hispanos recientemente practica algo lo
que se llama la presentación de un bebé. Ésta tradición viene de
las iglesias protestantes cuales niegan la verdad que los niños pequeños pueden ser bautizados antes de llegar a la edad de la
razón. Para los católicos la presentación de un bebé no remplaza
el bautismo de ningun modo. Demasiada gente Católica trata
ahora la presentación de los infantes como un rito de la Iglesia,
aunque no lo es así de veras. Como consecuencia también muchos padres de los niños innecesariamente posponen el día del
bautismo de sus hijos hasta cunado sean más grandes.
Por eso desepues de haber consultado el asunto con las autoridades de nuestra diocesis y con sus sugerencias hemos decidido
que comenzando el mes de octubre no habrá jamás las presentaciones de los infantes recién nacidos en nuestra parroquia. En su
lugar vamos a presentar una vez por mes los niños recién bautizados. Por favor lean más sobre el significado del bautismo de
los niños en la siguiente columna. Dios les bendiga todos.

El bautismo según algunos cristianos no católicos
Algunos grupos sectarios de la Edad Media (cátaros, valdenses)
rechazaban el bautismo de los niños. En la actualidad, algunos
cristianos, como los fundamentalistas, no bautizan a los niños
antes del uso de razón (aprox. hasta los 7 años). Según ellos el
bautismo requiere haber tenido una experiencia de conversión y
haber "aceptado a Cristo como Señor y Salvador de sus vidas". A
esta experiencia de aceptación le llaman "nacer de nuevo". Es el
momento en que el adulto se hace cristiano y su salvación queda
asegurada para siempre. Dicen entonces: “Estoy salvado”.
Seguidamente reciben el bautismo pero no le reconocen valor
salvífico. Para los fundamentalistas el bautismo no es un sacramento ya que no comunica gracia. Es tan solo una manifestación
pública de conversión.
El bautismo según la Iglesia Católica
Jesucristo requiere instrucción y fe para los que se convierten
(cf. Mat. 28,19–20). Por eso la Iglesia requiere un catecumenado
para formar a quienes se bautizan de mayores. Sin embargo, los
niños pequeños deben ser bautizados aunque aun sean incapaces
de recibir formación. Razón: El bautismo es un don de Dios por
el cual entramos en la vida de la gracia. Es regalo de Dios y no
depende de ningún mérito. Cada uno debe responder y
prepararse a ese don según sus posibilidades tomando en cuenta
su edad y la capacidad. Los padres deben comprometerse a formar a sus niños bautizados en la fe con la ayuda de la gracia. En
el bautismo se planta la semilla y después viene el crecimiento.
El bautismo de bebés no les quita la libertad ya que más tarde
podrán aceptar o rechazar la fe.
Que dice la Biblia:
Jesús enseñó la necesidad de que todos se bauticen para obtener
la salvación (Jn 3,5), la cual es un don. El no excluyó a los niños.
El bautismo es un don para todos, no solo adultos:
San Pablo: "pues la Promesa es para vosotros y para vuestros
hijos, y para todos los que están lejos, para cuantos llame el
Señor Dios nuestro." Hechos 2,39
Jesús dice: "Dejad que los niños vengan a mi" y los pone
como modelos para atener el Reino:
"Le presentaban también los niños pequeños para que los tocara,
y al verlo los discípulos, les reñían. Más Jesús llamó a los niños,
diciendo: «Dejad que los niños vengan a mí y no se lo impidáis;
porque de los que son como éstos es el Reino de Dios". -Lucas
18,15-16, cf Mateo 19,14.
El bautismo, según Pablo, remplaza la circuncisión (cf. Col.
2,11–12). Normalmente los judíos circuncidan a sus niños poco
después de nacer, antes de que estén formados en la fe. De la
misma manera un niño nacido en familia cristiana es bautizado
poco después de nacer. Más tarde recibirá la formación en su fe
según su edad, podrá cooperar con el don del bautismo que ha
recibido y será libre para decidir si acepta o no el don de Cristo.
En el caso de conversiones de adultos, judíos y católicos
seguimos el mismo orden: Los judíos requieren que el converso
acepte la fe antes de ser circuncidado. Los católicos requieren
formación y libre aceptación de la fe antes del bautismo de adultos.
El bautismo de niños es la práctica de la Iglesia desde el principio.

Uwaga: Przy każdym stole będzie ustawionych 12
krzeseł. Jeżeli będą Państwo planowali przybycie w
towarzystwie liczącym (łącznie z Państwem 12
osób), to wówczas prosimy o podanie nam listy
nazwisk. Jeżeli liczba osób będzie niższa, to wówczas prosimy o podanie nam liczby osób, tak
abyśmy mogli odpowiednio rozplanować miejsca
przy stołach.
PROGRAM POMOCY SOCJALNEJ (OUTREACH)
W tym tygodniu prosimy Was o: puree ziemniaczane w
proszku, dżem / galaretkę (jelly), zupy, płatki zbożowe do
jedzenia na zimno, masło orzechowe, tuńczyka w puszkach
oraz ryż. Przyjmujemy ponadto karty - gift cards.
W związku ze zbliżającym się początkiem roku szkolnego
prosimy także o przybory szkolne:
myjki dla niemowląt, kredki ołówkowe, tablica (clipboard),
kredki świecowe, długopisy kolorowe, gumki do wycierania,
długopisy ścieralne, okładki (flexible binders) , pudełka (file
