John the Baptist unites all of these symbolically when he recognizes Jesus as the “Lamb of God.” The Jews considered the offering of Isaac by Abraham to be the pivotal event in salvation history. Rather than requiring the sacrifice of Isaac, God sent an angel to Abraham to point out a ram (an adult male sheep) caught by his 9:00am Carole Lebert horns in a thicket to offer instead. For example, funds support… Liturgical Ministries Service Ministries Catechetical Ministries This year, the theme of the Appeal is “Living the Eucharist”. The Eucharist is the center of our faith. It is a great gift from Jesus Christ that helps us to extend His Word, His Love and His Light to others. Your contribution to the Bishop’s Appeal serves as a symbol of your gratitude for the Eucharist and all of God’s many gifts to you. Each Appeal gift enables the Diocese to build up the kingdom of God throughout East Tennessee. God gives us all that we have. Even when we want to believe that our successes are self-made, we know that it is God who has blessed us abundantly with all we have. He is always giving to us. His grace is always there for us. One way that we can show our gratitude is by offering our generous financial support to our parish and to our Diocese and to the Church throughout the world.
