I N-HOME SUPPORTIVE SERVICES (IHSS): What, Why, And How? Thursday, May 30, 2013 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm HRC Long Beach Training Center, LB1 1155 E. San Antonio Drive, Long Beach, CA 90807 Presented by HRC’s Benefits Specialist, this workshop will focus on an important in home support benefit available from the Department of Social Services and run by each County, the In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) program. Learn about IHSS eligibility, how support hours are determined, how to prepare for an appointment with your IHSS worker, and what to do if you don’t agree with an IHSS decision. Course Fee: $5.00 per family, payable at the session. Scholarships may be available for anyone with financial need. Please contact your HRC Counselor if a scholarship is needed. WORKSHOPS COMPUTER BASICS Wednesdays and Fridays April 10, April 12, May 8 and May 10, 2013 10:00 am – 12:00 pm Harbor Regional Center, Torrance Resource Center, Building A, First Floor In this class, each participant will be introduced to the computer. It will teach the basics of the keyboard and mouse, and how to use software. Classroom activities will be individualized to the level of the participant. They will also learn about alternative test taking methods, and be able to take a practice exam. Each participant will receive a folder which includes course material, and website information.
