Sunday of Divine Mercy
JOINING THE COMPANY OF BELIEVERS
What will help you to believe? Today’s scripture readings tell of faith and doubt. They offer stories “recorded to
help you believe,” as the passage from John’s Gospel (20:31) remarks today. There is an urgency about this. On this
Second Sunday of Easter we are challenged to join the company of believers—countless men and women who witnessed
the power of the apostles’ faith.
There is no doubt that this power comes from Jesus Christ. The second reading, from
the book of Revelation, reports John’s mystical vision of the Son of Man, who proclaims,
“Once I was dead, but now I live” (Revelation 1:18). The Gospel gathers everyone but
Thomas to see the Risen Jesus and receive the Holy Spirit from him. Like Thomas, we who
have come along later must have faith so that we can have life. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.
UNIRSE A LA COMUNIDAD DE CREYENTES
¿Qué te ayudará a tener fe?
san Juan (20:31).
Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

souls of all others.
·To always be eager to observe what we have promised the
Lord through our profession of faith
·To accomplish all of this in the presence of the Lord.

Feed it Forward
Pope Francis teaches us that “Even the weakest and
most vulnerable, the sick, the old, the unborn and
the poor, are masterpieces of God’s creation, made
in his own image, destined to live for ever, and
deserving of the utmost reverence and respect.”
With respect for our homeless brothers and sisters,
St. Clare’s is joining other faith communities in the
SCV to provide meals at the Bridge to Home Shelter
after it closes in early April. We are in need of volunteers to help prepare and serve meals twice a
month on Thursday evenings. Please prayerfully
consider this most fulfilling service. Contact: Carla
Romero at carla.v.romero123@ gmail.com or call
Carla at 661-476-2860 or Yola at 661-600-6810.
Don’t keep it a
secret…(we’ll listen)
When you move, there is so much to
consider—and while we know the Church is not the first
thing that pops into your head, we would appreciate it, if
you could let us know your new address and or telephone number. We pay to have our mail returned with
the new address and you wouldn’t believe how much
mail is returned to us. Also, many people are dumping
their landlines and we don’t know until we get the disconnect recording and have no other way to get in touch
with you so please—remember your church—
we’d appreciate it!
Pornography Addiction?
Most men who struggle with pornography suffer silently while
it destroys their life. They think, "There is no way I can tell
anyone about this - especially in church." and so they sit in
church week after week withering away in secret shame. Porn
use is addictive and progressive, and it destroys men and their
families. The sad part is that most wait until they get caught
and the consequences catch up to them before reaching out for
help.
In the battle against lust, isolation is death! Keeping the problem inside only keeps the man in bondage. We need others to
help us in this battle. If you struggle with this problem, we
have a safe place for you to meet with other men who struggle
with the same issues.
For more information, please call Chris at 661-993-1322.
(For reasons of confidentiality, information about this group
will only be given to those men who seek to join)
