LETTER FROM OUR PASTOR
Dear Parishioners,
Do you sometimes hear the statement that all religions, or
even all Christian religions, are the same as long as you
believe in something? Let’s look at that this morning.
Tolerance of other’s differences is one thing, but concluding
all are the same is ridiculous. As Catholics, we believe in
freedom of religion. That means that no one should be
forced to become a member of any particular religion. To
force someone to convert is to violate their dignity as a
human being. Jesus did not do that. But some people, and
even some faithful Catholics, confuse freedom of religion
with what the theologians call "religious indifferentism."
Religious indifferentism is the attitude that says all religions
are the same, and so it doesn't really matter which one you
believe in, as long as you are sincere.

But it is not true that all religions are the same. Human
nature is the same, and so the religious impulse that we all
feel in the depths of our hearts is universal, present in every
time, place, and culture. But different religions have different
ways of dealing with that impulse. Satanists deal with it by
worshipping the devil, even using human sacrifice
sometimes. Buddhists deal with it by gradually detaching
themselves from all activities of earthly life. And other
religions deal with it in other ways. To say that all religions
are basically the same is a lazy cop-out. It also contradicts
Christ's own message. He told the Apostles during the Last
Supper, "I am the Way; I am Truth and Life. No one can come
to the Father except through me" (John 14:6). And St Peter
said the same thing in today's First Reading: "... there is no
other name under heaven by which we are to be saved." Our
job is not to try and figure out how God saves those who
never hear the gospel or receive an invitation to join Christ's
one flock. Rather, our job is to spread the gospel and gather
the scattered sheep of the world into Christ's own Catholic
Church. Good example of a lived faith every day is the best
evangelizer.
FOURTH SUNDAY OF EASTER: That we can open our hearts
and allow the Holy Spirit to guide our lives and decisions. “The
disciples were filled with joy and the Holy Spirit.” (Acts
13:52). Because the disciples heard Our Lord’s call, they were
able to spread the Gospel message with strength and vitality. We,
too, can experience that same joy if we take time to open our
hearts, listen to God, ask for His direction and allow the Holy
Spirit to guide our lives and our decisions.
STEWARDSHIP REFLECTIONS - That we may learn to

see all of our blessings as abundant gifts from God so
that we may use them for the benefit of all God’s
people.

heart and mind and no one claimed that any of his
possessions was his own.” – (Acts 4:32). All that we are
and all that we have is a gift from God! Think of your family,
your friends, your talents and abilities – these are all gifts from
God. We aren’t really owners of anything, we are merely
“stewards” of the gifts God has blessed us with.

CUARTO DOMINGO DE PASCUA
CARTA DE NUESTRO PÁRROCO
"Y Pedro les dice, 'Arrepiéntanse, y bautícense cada
uno de ustedes en el nombre de Jesucristo'..." (Hechos
2:38). La palabra "arrepentimiento" significa alejarse del
pecado para cambiar nuestras acciones. Cuando se trata
de cambios, ¿tomamos la responsabilidad para cambiar o
pensamos que los demás deben cambiar? Los cambios
permanentes vienen de adentro, debemos tomar el control
y ser disciplinados. Recuerde que no está solo; Jesús está
ahí para ayudar y aligerar la carga.
Queridos parroquianos,
¿A veces oyes la declaración que todas las religiones son
iguales mientras que creamos en algo? Echemos un vistazo
esta mañana. La tolerancia a las diferencias es una cosa,
pero concluyendo todos son iguales es ridículo. Como
católicos, creemos en la libertad de religión. Eso significa
que nadie debe estar obligado a convertirse en un miembro
de cualquier religión en particular. Para forzar a alguien a
convertirse es violar su dignidad como ser humano. Jesús
no hizo eso. Pero algunas personas y algunos fieles
católicos, confunden libertad de religión con lo que los
teólogos llaman "indiferentismo religioso".
Indiferentismo religioso es la actitud que dice que todas las
religiones son iguales, y así que no importa cuál crees tú,
mientras eres sincero.
Cuarto Domingo de Pascua: “Los discípulos estaban
llenos de dicha y del Espíritu Santo” ( Hechos 13:52).
Ya que los discípulos oyeron el llamado de nuestro Señor,
ellos pudieron difundir el mensaje del Evangelio con fuerza
y vitalidad. Nosotros también podemos experimentar esa
misma dicha si nos tomamos el tiempo para abrir nuestros
corazones, escuchar a Dios, pedirle que nos oriente y
dejar que el Espíritu Santo guíe nuestras vidas y
decisiones.
Pero no es cierto que todas las religiones son iguales. La
naturaleza humana es la misma y así el impulso religioso
que todos sentimos en lo más profundo de nuestros
corazones es universal, presente en cada momento, lugar y
cultura. Pero las diferentes religiones tienen diferentes
maneras de lidiar con ese impulso. Satanistas se ocupan por
adorar al diablo, incluso se utilizan a veces sacrificios
humanos. Los budistas se ocupan desprendiéndose poco a
poco de ellos mismos en todas las actividades de la vida
terrenal. Y otras religiones tratan de todas las maneras de
decirnos que todas las religiones son básicamente lo
mismo es una excusa perezosa. También contradice el
mensaje de propio Cristo. Cuando dijo a los apóstoles
durante la última cena, "Yo soy el camino; Yo soy la verdad
y la vida. Nadie puede venir al padre sino por mí"(Juan 14:6).
Y St Pedro dijo lo mismo en la primera lectura de hoy: "... no
hay otro nombre bajo el cielo por el que nos podamos
salvar." Nuestro trabajo no es el de entender cómo Dios
salva a quienes nunca han oído el evangelio o recibido una
invitación para unirse a un rebaño de Cristo. Por el contrario,
nuestro trabajo es difundir el Evangelio y las ovejas
dispersas del mundo se reúnen en la iglesia católica de
Cristo. El Buen ejemplo de una fe vivida todos los días es el
mejor evangelizador.

sigue. Nosotros, como familia cristiana, continuamos la
misión de Jesús

de los enfermos,
dando a los mas
necesitados de los
bienes que Dios
nos proporciona y
apoyándonos
unos a otros. Los
milagros suceden
ante nuestros ojos
diariamente.
Jesús
sigue
alimentando
multitudes, orando
por
la
paz,
consolando,
proporcionando
vestido
y
alimento,
fortaleciendo al desvalido, visitando al enfermo y al preso,
amando al pecador, etc. ¡Los milagros suceden porque tu
eres Jesús en la tierra! ¡Tu eres quien hace que el milagro
suceda! ¡No desmayes, sigue dando tu tiempo, tu
preocupación y tu amor a los hijos de Cristo en la
tierra!

Spanish version of the Discover and Women Seeking
combined, for single men and women ages 18 and older
who are discerning a vocation to priesthood and religious
life and prefer the session in Spanish. During the Year of
Consecrated Life the gatherings will be hosted at different
convents, parishes and formation houses. Gatherings are
from September through May.

LAUGH LINES – One day a little girl was sitting and watching
her mother do the dishes at the kitchen sink. She suddenly
noticed that her mother had several strands of white hair sticking
out in contract on her brunette head. She looked at her mother
and inquisitively asked, “Why are some of your hairs white,
Mum?” Her mother replied, “Well, every time that you do
something wrong and make me cry or unhappy, one of my hairs
turns white.” The little girl thought about this revelation for a while
and then said, “Mummy, how come ALL of grandma’s hairs are
white?”

RESPECT LIFE CORNER - In the U.S., physician-assisted suicide
is legal in Oregon, Washington and Vermont. At least 14 other states are
grappling with assisted suicide legislation. As
Christians, we must invigorate a culture of
compassion that gives our elders hope that we will
patiently accompany them as they journey towards
death. We will not abandon them to the despair that
fuels acts of desperation like assisted suicide and
