Beginning February 1, 2016 and continuing
through April 13th, St. Sylvester Catholic Church
will be partnering with the United Way of Escambia
to offer free tax preparation for taxpayers in the parish and in the Navarre/Midway/Tiger Point area.
IRS Trained and Certified volunteer tax preparers
will be available M-T-W in the Education Building.
Taxes can be done in English and in Spanish.
Hours of operation will be 10am - 4pm each day.
If you need assistance outside of these hours, please
call 850-496-8124 to schedule. During normal
hours on M-T-W, no appointment is needed; just
come to the center and bring your SS Card and a
picture ID along with your tax information (W-2’s,
SS payment information, interest statements, last
year’s return, etc.)
The United Way has offered this service in the Pensacola area for several years and regularly prepares
thousands of returns for seniors, low and middle

this community and offers residents a way to get
free expert help with tax preparation and filing.

Italian Jubilee
Mercy Now
A Free Resource for all in the Parish
The Jubilee Year of Mercy is now in full swing!
What better way to form people to embrace God’s
way of mercy by reflecting on and living as people of
mercy? This is why a “Mercy Now” resource has
been established for all in the parish. You can access
the first edition of Mercy Now at:
http://www.catholiclifeandfaith.net/mercy-now/
January - The Giving and Receiving of Mercy
February – Lent, Deepening in Christ’s
Merciful Way
March – Mercy in the Lenten Gospels
Some interest has been expressed for a Tour of
Rome during this Jubilee Year of Mercy. After
pricing some tours, we wanted to see if we could
get 40 interested people before making a deposit to
secure the time slot for a St. Sylvester Group.
A tour we have been looking at involves
attractions that aren't normally included on a
pilgrimage to Italy. This tour is of Rome and
surrounding areas, which allows the group to stay
at the same hotel, 2 blocks from the Vatican,
throughout the entire trip. Some of the attractions
are as follows:
•

•
Counseling Services at
