HEAD START IMMUNIZATION POLICY
Vaccines are one of medicine's most wonderful discoveries because they significantly reduce the incidence
of infectious diseases in our children. You can protect your child from many dangerous childhood diseases
by ensuring he/she get the required immunizations for the following age groups:

TB TEST IS GIVEN IF SCREENING SHOWS A NEED
Hepatitis B – All infants should receive the first dose of HepB vaccine soon after birth and before hospital discharge; the first dose may also be administered by age
2 months if the mother is hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) negative. The second dose should be administered at least 4 weeks after the first dose, except for
combination vaccines which cannot be administered before age 6 weeks. The third dose should be given at least 16 weeks after the first dose and at least 8 weeks
after the second dose.
Effective 9/01/05 – Children attending child-care facilities will be required to receive the Pneumococcal conjugate (PCV7) and Hepatitis A vaccine.
If your child does not have the required immunizations for his/her age group, he/she will not be allowed to enter into our center until he/she has received the
required immunizations
By the time your child enters Kindergarten, he/she should have had 5 doses of DPT/DTaP; 4 doses of Polio; 4 doses of HIB; 4 doses of PCV7; 3 doses of Hepatitis
B; 2 doses of MMR; 2 doses of Hepatitis A and 1 dose of Varicella.
Parents and caretakers, we expect your commitment and continual support to insure that all children have their shots. This is a parental responsibility, and your
children deserve no less.

Las vacunas son uno de los descubrimientos más maravillosos de la medicina porque significa la reducción de contracción de
enfermedades infecciosas en nuestros hijos. Usted puede proteger a su hijo de muchas enfermedades peligrosas asegurando que él/ella
tenga las immunizaciones según los siguientes grupos de edades:

Hepatitis B – Todos los bebes deben recibir la primera dosis de HepB al nacer y antes de salir del hospital; la primera dosis también puede ser administrada
dentro de los 2 meses de edad si la madre es negativa hacia el hepatitis B sobre antígeno (HBsAg). La segunda dosis debe ser administrada por lo menos 4
semanas después de la primera dosis, excepto por vacunas de combinación que no deberán ser administradas antes de 6 semanas de edad. La tercera dosis
debe ser dada por lo menos 16 semanas después de la primera dosis y por lo menos 8 semanas después de la segunda dosis.
Efectivo 09/01/05 - Niños que asisten a centros de cuidado de niños serán requeridos que reciban la vacuna Pnemococcal conjugate (PVV7) y Hepatitis A.
Si su niño/a no tiene las vacunas requeridas para su edad, el/ella no serán permitidos entrar a nuestros centros hasta que haya recibido todas las vacunas
requeridas.
Para cuando su hijo/a entre al Kinder, el/ella deberá tener 5 vacunas de DTP/DTaP, 4 de Polio, 4 de HIB; 4 de PCV7; 3 de Hepatitis B; 2 de MMR; 2 de
Hepatitis A y 1 de Vericella
