During t he month o f M ay, y ou will begin t o obtain e mails, announcements a nd t weets concerning “College Awareness” a nd w hat y our f uture h olds for y ou. I t’s a n e xciting t ime t o explore t he v ast a rray o f o ptions w hile d reaming about o btaining your long t erm g oals. D uring t his time, i t is e asy f or students t o develop s ome “spring f ever” h owever, w e s trongly e ncourage y ou t o forge o n i n y our studies and not slack off. Your g rade point average and y our r ank will b e recalculated a t t he end of t he year a nd y ou c ertainly d esire those numbers to r eflect y our v ery best efforts! As we c lose o ut t he school year, the month o f M ay w ill b e chock-‐full o f a dvice for t ransitioning t o n ext year and beyond. T hrough a p lethora o f m edia, students w ill b e instructed on t he significance o f p lanning the r est of their h igh school career a nd looking i nto the s teps n eeded f or y our individual a spirations. Dual Credit courses allow students to earn college credit while meeting high school graduation requirements. In the long run, this can lead to financial savings, increased college success and allow students to get a head start on college core curriculum. LHS will offer dual credit courses for US History, Senior English, Government and Economics in the 2016-2017 school year and all of this coursework transfers to public colleges and universities within Texas. There is a process involved with registering for dual credit courses so be sure to listen to announcements and contact your counselor for more information! Credit By Exam Review Sheets Sign-up for Spanish Credit By Exam If you speak, read and write Spanish, AND you have not already received Spanish credits, you may now register for the upcoming Credit By Exam. Taking this assessment give you the possibility of earning your foreign language graduation requirement credits! Registration for the May 17th18th testing date will be now through April 29th. Breakfast – 7:30 ~ Lunch – 12:00 No refunds for classes or bus service after the first day of class. 3 SPRING 2016 9th/10th grade only-‐-‐-‐-‐Declaring/Updating your Endorsement! th th As a current 9 /10 grade student, you will be graduating on the Foundation High School Program. House Bill 5 requires that all students graduating with this plan identify an endorsement prior to the end of their 9th grade year. This data must also be reported to the state electronically. To ensure that your preferred endorsement is correctly identified, Students should log in to their Skyward account and select their endorsement. Although you may graduate with multiple endorsements, you only need to select one at this time. The endorsement selection may be changed at any time during your high school career. Declaring your Endorsement (Laptop/Computer Directions) 1) Click the Endorsements link in the menu on the left. 2) Select the option “Declare and Endorsement”. 3) Click the drop down arrow for the *Declared Endorsement and select the option you choose. 4) Click the Declared Option drop down arrow if you wish to make an Option selection . 5) Be sure to check the box “I Agree” to indicate you agree to the terms of the Electronic Signature Statement. 6) Click the Save button at the bottom to complete the process. On the iPad/Skyward App 1) Login in with username/password. 2) Choose "Desktop" version (gives you mobile and desktop options) 3) Home screen-‐-‐-‐-‐upper left hand corner there is a "+" sign underneath the Skyward logo-‐-‐-‐click on the plus sign and a menu will drop down 4) Click on "Endorsements" in the drop down menu and select/save the endorsement of your choice. 4 SPRING 2016 9th/10th grade only-‐-‐-‐-‐Declaring/Updating your Endorsement! Esta información también debe ser reportada al estado electrónicamente. Para asegurar que tu especialización de preferencia fue correctamente identificada, los estudiantes deben acceder a su cuenta de Skyward y seleccionar su especialización. Aunque te puedes graduar con múltiples especializaciones, sólo necesitas seleccionar una en este momento. Haz clic en la flecha desplegable de “Declared option” si deseas hacer una selección de opciones. 5. Asegúrate de marcar la caja de “I agree” (estoy de acuerdo) para indicar que estás de acuerdo con los términos de la Declaración de la Firma Electrónica. 6. Haz clic en el botón de Save (Guardar) al final de la página para completar el proceso. 5
