Código Penal de 1982
Articulo 160
El servidor público que someta a un detenido a severidades o apremios
indebidos, será sancionado con prisión de 6 a 20 meses. Si el hecho consiste
en torturas, castigo infamante, vejaciones o medidas arbitrarias, la sanción
será de 2 a 5 años de prisión.
Ley No. 5, 16 Junio 1987, Por la cual se aprueba la Convención
contra la Tortura Otros Tratos o Penas Crueles, Inhumanos o
Degradantes
Articulo 1
Apruébase en todas sus partes la convención contra la tortura y otros tratos o
penas crueles, inhumanas o degradantes, que a la letra dice: Convención
contra la tortura y otros tratos o penas crueles, Inhumanos o degradantes

Artículo 2
La convención o Penas Crueles, Inhumanos la declaraci6n de que el contra la
Tortura y Otros Tratos o Degradantes se aprueba haciendo Estado
panameño no se considera obligado por lo establecido por el párrafo 1 del
artículo 30 de la mencionada Convención.
Artículo 3
Esta Ley comenzará a regir a partir de su promulgacion.
