Life Long Faith Focus on the Gospel
Matthew 16:24-27
When Jesus tells the disciples He must suffer,
even to death, and then be raised from the
dead, the disciples are shocked, and Peter even rebukes
Jesus for saying such a thing. But Jesus does not soften
His words. Instead, He goes on to tell them that every disciple must undergo the same suffering, carrying the cross,
losing everything, even life itself. Following Jesus means
carrying the cross. But the cross turns out to be the way to
life. When Jesus gives His life on the Cross, He becomes
the source of life for all humanity. And when we follow Jesus all the way to the Cross - when we accept that suffering is part of life, and undergo our suffering’s with Christ
and in Christ- life flows forth for us and through us, too.
“We adore your Cross, O Lord,” the Church sings on Good
Friday, “for behold, because of the wood of a tree, joy has
come into the whole world.”

classes Thursday morning September
4th at 10 a.m. and repeating at 7 p.m.
(Labor Day is Monday, Sept 1 this
year). Back by super popular demand is the 24-week
Great Adventure Bible Timeline! Some of you were lucky
enough to get in on this amazing study 5 years ago, and
we have been getting demands for its return ever since.

donated in honor of the 45th wedding
anniversary of Angie and Gene Johnson.
If you would like to donate flowers for the Altar in memory of a
special occasion such as an anniversary or in memory of a loved

Altar is $60, at the ambo is $40. If you request a special type of
flower, there is an extra fee.
COLUMBARIUM
A Mass for the repose of the souls of those buried in our
Columbarium will be celebrated each month. The price of the
columbarium niche is $2500. To purchase your niche, please

972-243-7104 for an appointment.

There were 24 youth from Mary Immaculate that were
illuminated at DCYC the first weekend of August. It was a
wonderful weekend, and we thank all who helped us get
there!!

End-of-Summer Celebration and Cheesecake Bar

Bring your sweet tooth! St. Joseph’s Village is excited to
provide our seniors with coffee and sweet treats and a
great opportunity to regroup and share summer stories
with friends old and new!
There will be a short
presentation on St. Joseph’s Village’s beautiful facilities in
Coppell, TX as well!
Holy Hour of Eucharistic Adoration is held every
Thursday from 3:00-4:00 p.m. Each Holy Hour will begin
with a sung or spoken version of the 3:00 prayer, the
Chaplet of Divine Mercy. All are invited!

It’s time to get started on your projects. You can sign up in
the Sacristy for 3 Masses to serve. There is a sign-up

Please donate blood or platelets at our after-Labor Day

FAMILY MINISTRY
Journey of Hope: Divorce /Separated
Ministry will meet on September 7th at 10:15
a.m. in the Parish Conference Room. This
ministry is open to those who are separated/
divorced. We use the book ”Divorced Catholic ..Now What?” as our source of study. Through
celebration of the sacraments and fellowship come to
know the peace that the Lord has for you. For more

The Divorced/Separated Ministry is hosting “Financial
Peace University” (FPU) at Mary Immaculate on Sundays
beginning September 7th. This 9 week class will show you
how to get rid of debt, manage your money, spend and
save wisely, and more. We will meet every Sunday at 8:30
a.m. in the Parish Conference room. For more information

Festival Supplies Donations: Stop by the Donations Wish
List table to sign-up for much needed Fall Festival supplies.
These donations help offset the expense of the parish’s biggest party of the year! New this year we will also have a
Skills List Sign-up sheet—so stop by to see how you
can offer critical skills needed and tasks that need to be
completed.
Save Those Toys! We are collecting new, small toys to be
used as prizes during the Festival. Examples of toys to
donate are those from fast food restaurants. We could also
use larger toys. Donation boxes are in the church (near the
office) during the month of September.
La Loteria game—We are also collecting items for prizes for
a bingo game that is played primarily by adults! The prizes
are new/used inexpensive household times, such as home
decorations, kitchen towels, and picture frames. It is a great
chance to clean out your closets or “re-gift” something that
you have received but don’t use. If you have any questions,
please call the church office.
Out of courtesy to our neighboring churches in
this area, please do not park your car in any of
their church parking lots. You may park in the
Mary Immaculate Church parking lot, the school
parking lot or at the Senior Center across the
street.

tema de la cruz a sus seguidores. Ellos no sabían que la
cruz era parte del plan de Dios y era su legado hasta
después de la Resurrección. Los seguidores de Cristo en
nuestros días, reconocen que son corresponsables de su
completo legado, incluyendo su cruz; que a través de sus
sacrificios recíprocos la gloria de Dios es revelada. Ellos
no viven su vida en Cristo sólo cuando es conveniente
para ellos. Ellos toman la decisión de llevar su cruz y
cargarla, sin importar cuál sea el costo. ¿Qué cruces
soportamos para revelar la gloria de Dios?

¡Guarde esos Juguetes! - Estamos recolectando
juguetes pequeños nuevos para usarlos como premios.
Por ejemplo: los juguetes de restaurantes de comida
rápida. También podremos usar juguetes grandes. Las

durante el mes de Septiembre.
Juego de Lotería - También estamos recolectando

premios son artículos domésticos nuevos o ligeramente

Iluminados en la fe:
24 jóvenes de nuestra parroquia asistieron a DCYC el
primer fin de semana del mes de agosto y vivieron una
experiencia que iluminó sus vidas. Fue un maravilloso fin
de semana. ¡Agradecemos grandemente a todos los que
ayudaron para que pudiéramos asistir a esta
conferencia!
