The Lord fills all our emptiness with His Love. He teaches us that to love Him is intimately united to loving all others, even the most difficult person in our lives. There is only authentic Christianity in persons that give their lives for others. As Father Ambrose Udoji and I begin our journey with all of you, we are grateful to God for His love, for sending us to Our Lady of Perpetual Help. We look forward to growing together in our prayer life, in a greater experience of God’s love for all of us, and a greater and greater practice of service for each other. “You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your being, with all your strength, and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself …” Luke 10:25-37 May our Blessed Mother, all the Saints and all the Angels bless us, protect us and always lead us to the Shadow of the Father, the Heart of Jesus and to the Fire of the Holy Spirit. Monsignor Lorenzo Miranda FIFTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME PAGE 3 YOU ARE INVITED FAITH BUILDING PRAYER AND LIFE WORKSHOPS OLPH - Parish Center begins Mon, August 1 (15 week session) 7:00pm – 9:00pm RECONNECT WITH FAITH THIS SUMMER We invite you to end this Extraordinary Year of Mercy by giving yourself the opportunity to learn how to pray meaningfully and deeply, building an intimate and profound relationship with our Lord. “PLW (Prayer and Life Workshops) is a liberating and healing Workshop made possible through the knowledge of God and of oneself: through the life experience of Surrender, the participant nears a profound peace; and through messages and exercises, the participant slowly is able to liberate himself from sadness and anxiety; to heal all wounds; to surpass fears and complexes, while recuperating the meaning of life and the joy of living.” For more information contact: Steven & Haydee Gonzales (562) 397-9304 [email protected] The lazy days of summer can make it tempting to be lazy about prayer and worship but the slower pace of summer makes it a great time to reconnect with the one who loves you most. Make Mass. There’s no vacation from Mass, even though we are on vacation. In fact, admiring churches in new places and participating in different parish customs can freshen our own outlook. Summer reading. Give “beach reading” a new meaning. Read a spiritual book of which you may have heard but not yet read. Whether a classic or a more contemporary religious book, reading it during the summer can give you more time to reflect on what you read. Serve. Parish ministries usually suffer from low staffing during the summer. Call your parish office to see if you can fill in if help is needed cleaning the church, visiting the sick, greeting parishioners, or elsewhere faithful hands are scarce. There is a small but real chance that victimization could occur when kids play and interact with others on phones, tablets, laptops, desktops and gaming consoles. A helpful way to teach children about handling problems is to encourage them to report issues when they arise. Internet service providers and gaming networks have systems set up to field complaints of abuse and then investigate them (in conjunction with law enforcement, when necessary). CAMPING IS NATURE’S WAY OF FEEDING MOSQUITOES. Missionary Intention: That the Church in Latin America and the Caribbean, by means of her mission to the continent, may announce the Gospel with renewed vigor and enthusiasm. As we enter God’s house to offer worship and praise, our attitude and attire should match our belief that we are encountering a God worthy of our respect and honor. This Sunday, July 10 our parish will participate in the National Needs Combined Collection. This collection makes it possible for the Church to continue strengthening Catholic faith, values, and education. It helps support some of the poorest dioceses in the country that depends on annual collection. It also enables us to insure the highest standard of quality Catholic education. It strengthens the Church at home, and helps to provide basic pastoral resources and services to needy ethnic communities in scattered and isolated areas. RECTORY OFFICE SUMMERTIME GIVING During the summer, our weekly turnout is a little thinner with many of our parishioners on vacation. Did you know we have an online giving program? It’s easy to sign-up for automatic withdrawals.
