– La 53ª edición del Salone del Mobile ha vuelto a convertir la ciudad de Milán
en capital del diseño, en un encuentro que también ha reunido el Salón Internacional
del Artículo Complementario para la Decoración, el SaloneSatellite y las bienales
EuroCucina − con su propuesta paralela FTK – y el Salón Internacional del Baño. Una
cita imprescindible para todas las empresas y los profesionales del sector, así como
para el público general, con una cada vez mayor participación internacional.
Las propuestas más jóvenes se han dado cita en el Salone Satellite que, bajo el
lema “Diseño e innovación + saber artesano”, ha sabido conjugar la tradición del
mundo de las artesanías y las posibilidades modernas que ofrecen el diseño y la producción industrial; y se han entregado, un año más, los Premios Salone Satellite. La
lámpara Volta, del estudio From en Italia (1); la lámpara de ambiente Atmos, de Arturo
Erbsman en Francia (2); y la escalera de apoyo, antideslizante, Steptool, de Avandi
en USA (3); han sido galardonadas con el primer, segundo y tercer premio respectivamente; y se han entregado además dos menciones, a Chamotte, de Ruxi Sacalis
(Rumania); y a Protrude de YOY (Japón).
Fuera de feria, Zona Tortona, Brera Design District, Ventura Lambrate y la Trienal
de Milán han acercado el diseño a los ciudadanos y visitantes de Milán, con eventos y
muestras en puntos estratégicos de la ciudad.
Además, Ventura Projects ha lanzado para en esta edición Ventura X, un nuevo
proyecto que elige la letra X como el símbolo que representa tanto la variable desconocida como la multiplicación; y que contará cada año con la colaboración de un
diseñador distinto. “Baas is in town” ha sido el nombre elegido en esta ocasión, en la
que se ha presentado el trabajo del diseñador holandés Maarten Baas (4).
– The 53rd edition of the Salone del Mobile has once again transformed Milan
into the capital of design, in an encounter that has also featured the International Fair for
Complementary Articles for Decoration, the SaloneSatellite and the biennials EuroCucina – with its parallel FTK proposal – and the International Bathroom Fair. A must for all
of the sector’s businesses and professionals as well as the general public, with increasing
international participation.
The youngest proposals were showcased at the Salone Satellite that, under the slogan
of “Design and innovation + artisan knowledge”, has succeeded in combining the tradition
of the handicrafts with the modern possibilities offered by industrial design and production;
and this year the Salone Satellite Prizes have once again been awarded. The Volta lamp by
the From studio from Italy (1), the Atmos ambient lamp by Arturo Erbsman from France (2)
and the non-slip support ladder, Steptool, by Avandi from USA (3), were the prize-winners,
recognised with the first, second and third prize respectively. A further two mentions were
also awarded, to Chamotte, by Ruxi Sacalis (Romania) and Protrude by YOY (Japan).
Outside the fair, Zona Tortona, Brera Design District, Ventura Lambrate and the Milan Triennale brought design to Milan’s citizens and visitors, with events and exhibitions
in strategic points around the city.
For this edition Ventura Projects launched Ventura X, a new project that chooses the
letter X as the symbol representing both the unknown variable and multiplication and
which each year will feature the collaboration of a different designer. “Baas is in town”
was the name chosen on this occasion, which presented the work of the Dutch designer
Maarten Baas (4).

¿Dónde viven los arquitectos? En su ya tradicional espacio de diálogo sobre los proyectos de arquitectos y diseñadores de fama internacional, el Salone ha presentado el
evento paralelo ¿Dónde viven los arquitectos? (Dove vivono gli architetti). Una reflexión
sobre las modalidades, las experiencias y la cultura de habitar que, comisariada por Francesca Molteni, ha mostrado las viviendas particulares de maestros de la talla de Shigeru
Ban, Mario Bellini, David Chipperfield, Massimiliano y Doriana Fuksas, Zaha Hadid, Marcio Kogan, Daniel Libeskind y Studio Mumbai/Bijoy Jain.
Un espacio interactivo de 1.600 metros cuadrados en el que el visitante ha podido
conocer de cerca la forma de vivir de estos profesionales, y que no sólo ha mostrado
la historia de cada una de las casas, sino que también ha incluido entrevistas con los
protagonistas, vídeos, maquetas y fotografías que, de la mano del escenógrafo Davide
Pizzigoni, han servido para dar forma a las proyecciones que han ilustrado cada vivienda.
–Where Architects live? In its now traditional space for dialogue on the projects of
architects and designers of international fame, the Salone presented the parallel event Where
do Architects Live? (Dove vivono gli architetti), a reflection on the modalities, experiences and
culture of inhabiting that, curated by Francesca Molteni, was delivered by Francesca Molteni
and Davide Pizzigoni and showcased the private homes of masters of the stature of Shigeru
Ban, Mario Bellini, David Chipperfield, Massimiliano and Doriana Fuksas, Zaha Hadid, Marcio Kogan, Daniel Libeskind and Studio Mumbai/Bijoy Jain.
The interactive space covers 1,600 square metres in which the visitor could learn firsthand about the way these professionals live and that not only showed the history of each
one of the houses but also included interviews with the protagonists, videos, maquettes and
photographs. Mounted by the stage designer Davide Pizzigoni, they served to give shape to
the screenings that illustrated each home.

Radiolaria lamps by Bernotat Inspirándose en los organismos microscópicos
y el fenómeno de la bioluminescencia, el estudio holandés Bernotat&Co ha diseñado esta colección de 11 lámparas fabricadas en material tejido en 3D. Formas
únicas, naturales e imperfectas, diseñadas combinando matemáticas y naturaleza,
que recuerdan bacterias, plancton, semillas, o incluso planetas. Las luminarias, que
mantienen un resplandor verde cuando se apaga la luz, se transforman en partículas
translucidas de color blanco que flotan en el espacio cuando ésta se enciende. Si las
luces se vuelven a apagar sus contornos se iluminan de forma súbita, gracias a los
segmentos de cada lámpara, que se funden con el material fosforescente integrado
en las costuras. Un efecto que las hace perfectas para su uso en dormitorios, salas de
conferencias, cines o teatros.
Flujos: un viaje al futuro. Una representación artística del futuro donde se entrelazan la tecnología y las necesidades humanas, es lo que ha mostrado Samsung en esta
instalación. Un proyecto en el que deconstruye la realidad para revelar su esencia fundamental, a partir de cinco productos desmontados que muestran al público sus partes
más pequeñas y escondidas; y en el que se representa además la casa del futuro, donde
cada producto está conectado al resto mediante un único panel de control.
Organizada en cuatro partes: Presente, Deconstrucción del presente, Evolución y Futuro, la muestra ha acercado a los visitantes a un nuevo estilo de vida, en el que la tecnología responde al deseo de bienestar individual en el entorno doméstico; desarrollando
al mismo tiempo un futuro en el que actuar de manera responsable y eficiente.
–Flows: a journey to the future. An artistic representation of the future that intertwines technology and human necessities is what Samsung has showcased in this installation. The
project deconstructs reality to reveal its fundamental essence through five dismantled products
that show the public their smallest and most concealed parts, and which also represents the
house of the future, where each product is connected to the rest through a single control panel.
Organised in four parts: Present, Deconstruction of the Present, Evolution and Future, the show has brought a new lifestyle to visitors in which technology meets the wish
for individual wellbeing in the domestic environment while developing a future in which
to act responsibly and efficiently.

– Inspired in microscopic organisms and the phenomenon of bioluminescence, the
Dutch studio Bernotat&Co has designed this collection of 11 lamps made from 3D-woven material. Unique shapes, natural and imperfect, designed by combining mathematics and nature,
that recall bacteria, plankton, seeds or even planets. The lamps, which retain a green glow
when the light is switched off, are transformed into white-coloured translucent particles that
float in space when lit up. If the lights are switched off again, their contours are suddenly illumined thanks to the segments of each lamp, which blend with the phosphorescent material
integrated into the seams, an effect that makes them perfect for use in bedrooms, conference
rooms, cinemas or theatres.

Archives. La empresa holandesa especializada en papel pintado NLXL presentó en Milán “Archives”, un proyecto de colaboración con el estudio de diseño Studio
Job, fundado por Job Smeets y Nynke Tynagel. Un trabajo
retrospectivo sobre la historia de Studio Jobs, que recoge
patrones ya existentes, adaptados ahora a superficies de
9 metros, a partir de arquetipos que, combinados con elementos iconográficos, dan lugar a siete diseños distintos:
Perished (1), Labyrinth (2), Alt Deutsch (3), Withered
Flowers (4), éste en color y blanco y negro, Industry (5)
y l’Afrique (6).

presented in Milan “Archives”, a collaboration project with
the Studio Job design studio founded by Job Smeets and

JTI Clean City Lab 2014. Las campañas de comunicación son importantes y más aún cuando se trata de
aquellas que tienen como objetivo crear conciencia sobre el impacto del tabaquismo en el medio ambiente.
Esta fue la premisa de la cuarta edición del concurso JTI
Clean City Lab 2014 que reunió 120 proyectos de comunicación de 4 escuelas de diseño (Politecnico di Milano,
Chelsea College of Arts - University of the Arts London,
IED Barcelona (I+ED Lab) y HEAD of Geneva) destinadas a cambiar el comportamiento de los fumadores y
reducir los residuos generados por los cigarrillos en las
zonas urbanas.
Los doce proyectos finalistas fueron seleccionados

(Fondo Ambiente Italiano), Carlo Montanaro, Editor Jefe

Time is Light, Light is Time. Citizen ha estado presente en la Trienal de Milán a
través de la instalación “Light is Time”, obra del arquitecto Tsuyoshi Tane, del estudio
de arquitectura DGT, en colaboración con los diseñadores de la firma. Una muestra
que, combinando relojes de la década de 1920 con los últimos modelos, ha creado
un espacio dominado por 8.000 mecanismos que componen la esfera mecánica de
cualquier reloj y que, en referencia al fenómeno del Big Bang, cuando una explosión
de luz dio lugar al origen del universo y al tiempo, han envuelto al visitante en una
atmósfera monocromática dorada inundada de luz. Porque el Tiempo es Luz, y sin
Luz no habría Tiempo, Citizen ha afrontado el reto de crear relojes que muestran
cómo el Tiempo cambia con la Luz.
– Citizen was present at the Milan Triennale with the “Light is Time” installation,
the work of the architect Tsuyoshi Tane of the DGT architecture practice, in collaboration with the firm’s designers. The show combines watches from the 1920s and the latest
models and has created a space dominated by 8,000 mechanisms that comprise the mechanical dial of any watch and that, in reference to the Big Bang phenomenon, when an
explosion of light led to the origins of the universe and of time, enveloped visitors in a
gold monochromatic atmosphere flooded in light. Because Time is Light, and without
Light there would be no Time, Citizen confronted the challenge of creating watches that
show how Time changes with Light.

Hong Kong: Constant Change. Organizada por el Centro de Diseño de Hong
Kong para la Trienal de Milán 2014, “Hong Kong: Constant Change “ acercó a los visitantes el futuro del diseño en Hong Kong, a través del trabajo de más de 60 diseñadores locales. Una exposición de cómo el cambio condiciona el trabajo de los diseñadores de una ciudad en constante transformación, donde conviven pasado y futuro y
que, a pesar de su apariencia de ciudad moderna, combina la tecnología digital con
la artesanía más tradicional.
El galardonado arquitecto danés Nille Juul-Sørensen fue el encargado de comisariar la muestra, que no presentó los diseños de forma tradicional, uno a uno, sino con
instalaciones multimedia que permitieron a los visitantes interactuar con el estilo de
vida y el diseño de Hong Kong, a través de disciplinas como la Arquitectura, la Tecnología, la Comunicación, la Educación Ecológica, la Moda, el Diseño de Interiores y Urbano,
y la Tradición, entre otras.

Constant Change“ brought the future of design in Hong Kong to visitors through the work

traditional handicrafts.

through a lighting system that is sensitive to the passing of people. 6. Spieglein, Spieglein.. Este espejo convierte el acto cotidiano de cepillarse los dientes en algo lúdico, gracias a la
línea de color que recorre el perímetro del espejo durante 3 minutos, tiempo aconsejado para el cepillado. La instalación permite el uso simultáneo de hasta tres usuarios / This mirror
transforms the everyday action of brushing your teeth into something playful thanks to the line of colour that runs around the mirror’s perimeter for 3 minutes, the recommended brushing
time. The installation allows for simultaneous use by up to three users.
