The Catholic Ministries Annual Appeal provides crucial funding to the Diocese of Joliet. These funds help
provide education, ministry and services that sustain the people of God.
From Catholic Charities to Catholic Schools, to Religious Education, seminarian education and vocations,
money donated to the CMAA helps support the work of our diocese.
Bishop Conlon has sent a letter and a campaign brochure to past CMAA contributors asking that they consider
making a gift to the 2013 Catholic Ministries Annual Appeal. We ask our parishioners who receive this mailing to read it carefully and to prayerfully consider a generous gift and/or pledge.
Please keep in mind that our parish receives a 50% rebate of all funds received over our parish goal. We can
then use this money to support our parish priorities.

This afternoon at the Cathedral of St. Raymond in Joliet, Bishop
R. Daniel Conlon and Bishop Joseph Siegel will celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation with 200 adults from throughout the Diocese of Joliet including six from our parish. After eight months of
prayer and preparation we congratulate our newly confirmed
adults:

Marisol Nuno, Monica Quiroga, Luis Verdin.

Since 2005, Woman’s Choice Services (WCS) has answered the Catholic call
to life through life-affirming programs and services. It
is through the support of many churches and parishioners that WCS is able to continue to offer programming
assisting young families in their times of need. Today
we ask you to join with us as we recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of the WCS Mothering
Program participants. Last year, WCS provided 1,081
sessions of Mothering Program classes. 20 women
successfully completed this course designed to

Planificación Familiar Natural
¿Que es Planificación Familiar Natural?
La Planificación Familiar Natural (PFN) son métodos con bases científicas y moralmente
aceptables para regular la concepción. Basados en la observación e interpretación diaria de los
signos de fertilidad e infertilidad que ocurren naturalmente en el cuerpo de la mujer. Contrario
al método del ritmo, la planificación familiar natural moderna se basa en la interpretación diaria del ciclo fértil de la esposa para que la pareja pueda identificar los días en los que la concepción es mas posible si desearan conseguir o posponer un embarazo. Estudios Internacionales confirman que cuando se usa la PFN para evitar el embarazo, tiene un porcentaje de efectividad de 98-99% para una pareja que ha sido instruida propiamente y que sigue el método cuidadosamente.
La PFN provee un método de planificación familiar altamente efectivo y saludable por un costo muy bajo y sin efectos secundarios dañinos. Puede ser usada con éxito en todas las etapas de la vida de la mujer, incluso el amamantamiento y la premenopausia. Las parejas que practican PFN seguido desarrollan un profundo respeto, interés y cuidado por el cuerpo del otro, por el
regalo de su fertilidad junta y por el privilegio de la paternidad. Muchas parejas también descubren que el respeto mutuo, comunicación regular, responsabilidad compartida y el dominio propio que requiere la practica de la PFN enriquece su relación y
fortalece su matrimonio.
¿Porque la Iglesia Católica promueve la PFN?
La Iglesia Católica promueve la PFN porque es el único método de planificación familiar que respeta los propósitos inseparables del vínculo de amor y vida, inscritos por Dios en la cópula sexual. La cópula sexual es designada por Dios para ser el signo mas intimo del regalo total de uno a otro que hombre y mujer se hacen mutuamente en el matrimonio. Este acto que expresa
el regalo mutuo del ser, al mismo tiempo los hace capaces del mas grandioso regalo posible – cooperar con Dios en dar vida a
una nueva persona humana.
La Planificación Familiar Natural permite a la pareja discernir orando periódicamente si Dios los esta llamando o no a concebir un niño y entonces usar el conocimiento del ciclo de fertilidad de la esposa ya sea para conseguir o posponer un embarazo.
La fertilidad es considerada como un regalo que no debe ser suprimido o destruido, sino apreciado y respetado. La Iglesia cree
que la planificación familiar natural es donde se comienza a ser pro-vida. Mucha gente no se da cuenta que las formas mas
efectivas de control de natalidad artificiales disponibles hoy en día también alteran las paredes del útero para prevenir la implantación y por lo tanto si ocurriera una concepción, pueden causar el aborto temprano de un embrión recién concebido.
“La elección de los ritmos naturales comporta la aceptación del tiempo de la persona, es decir de la mujer, y con esto la aceptación también del dialogo, del respeto reciproco, de la responsabilidad común, del dominio de si mismo…. En este contexto
la pareja experimenta que la comunión conyugal es enriquecida por aquellos valores de ternura y afectividad, que constituyen
el alma profunda de la sensualidad humana, incluso en su dimensión verdadera y plenamente humana”
