End of October greetings to you all!
Sunday’s Gospel tells of Zacchaeus, a man who was small in stature and smaller in virtues. Jesus called him down
from his lookout post in a tree, to speak to him personally and in that encounter, invited him to change.
His recognizing that he is small provides the unpopular tax collector an opportunity for Christ to see him. Perhaps
our trying to cover up our imperfections or “photo-shopping” our blemishes makes us miss opportunities to
search for Jesus. Christ sees us as we are and in his loving acceptance calls us to change and live virtuously.
The other night I was accompanied the St Patrick Pastoral Council chairperson to an archdiocesan deanery
meeting. As the different parishes shared about where they are growing and working, it struck me how the places
that are clustering are being forced to look at themselves, join strengths and understand their weaknesses in
order to grow. Combining committees and parishioners provides an opportunity for them to open new doors.
As a Schoenstatt Family this year with our motto—Fear Not, Proclaim the Father’s Love—we are looking at the
ways we can turn our fears into moments to proclaim God’s loving care. To do this requires an understanding of
our strengths and weaknesses, and humbling asking our Covenant
Queen to help us seek God in them. All of us are called into this
process. That means inviting a neighbor to join us in visiting the
Shrine; going to the Covenant Sunday Mass in Waukesha; bringing
our Pilgrim Mother to a sick neighbor; or offering the MTA a special
Capital of Grace in our trials.
We may be small, but Mary encourages us to climb into heights to
look at our Lord, to see Jesus as he is; so he can call us by name!

¡Saludos a todos en este fin de Octubre!
El Evangelio de domingo nos cuenta de Zaqueo, un hombre de poca
altura física y virtuosa. Jesús lo llama que baja de su árbol, para
poder conversar con él de tu a tu e invitarlo a cambiar su vida.
Por reconocer su pequeñez el publicano poco popular tiene la oportunidad de entrar en contacto con Jesús.
Quizás todo lo que hacemos para cubrir nuestras faltas o “photo-shop-ieando” nuestras manchas nos obliga
perder oportunidades de buscar a Jesús. Cristo nos ve tal como somos y nos acepta con amor, llamándonos a
cambiar y vivir con virtud.
El martes pasado estuve en un encuentro diocesano con la presidente de consejo pastoral de Whitewater.
Mientras compartían las parroquias sobre su vida, me impresionó como los lugares que estaban uniendo sus
comunidades, crecía por tal proceso que estaba obligándolos a unir sus fuerzas y ser honestos frente sus
debilidades. Uniendo sus comités y parroquianos les daban la oportunidad de probar puertas nuevas.
Como Familia de Schoenstatt en este año, con nuestra lema—No Temas, Proclama el Amor del Padre—estamos
mirando las maneras de transformar nuestros temores en una proclamación del amor paternal de Dios. Para
poder hacerlo tenemos que entender nuestros dones y debilidades, y con humildad pidiendo a nuestra Reina
ayuda a buscar a Dios en ellos. Todos nosotros estamos llamado a participar en esta tarea. Significa invitando a
un vecino a visitar el santuario con nosotros; yendo a la misa de tercer domingo en Waukesha para renovar
nuestra alianza; trayendo a la Virgen Peregrina a un amigo enfermo; u ofreciendo a la MTA más capital de gracia
por llevar una dificultad especial.
Puede ser que somos pequeños pero María nos anima subir a las alturas más altas para ver al Señor, a Jesús tal
como es; ¡para que nos puede llamar por nombre!
