April 10th, 2016
Fr. Juan’s Flinstone
El Pedernal del
Padre Juan
The Easter joy and happiness continues, my
friends. Christ is risen! Alleluia! What’s up?
Have you sung Regina Coeli, laetare,* alleluia?
Keep in mind that it is prayed only for 40 days
and in Paschal Time. Rejoice with His Blessed
Mother.
La alegría y felicidad Pascual sigue, amigos
míos. ¡Cristo ha resucitado! ¡Aleluya! ¿Qué tal?
¿Han canturreado el Regina Coeli, laetare,*
alleluia? Recuerden que sólo se reza 40 días y
en Pascua. Alégrense con Su Santísima
Madre.
*Queen of Heaven, rejoice, for the Son whom
you merited to bear, has risen as He said.
Rejoice and be glad, for the Lord has truly
risen, and have saved all of us.
palabra.
Alégrate
y
goza,
porque
verdaderamente ha resucitado el Señor, y nos
ha salvado a todos.
I thank GOD for the Internet in how we are
closer to our Catholic Traditions and prayers
than before. In two clicks we have on cellphones, computers, tablets, watches, what we
need to meditate, pray, and learn of Christian
teachings.
Now that Mother Angelica was called to heaven
I have discovered that EWTN has broadcasting
sisters in the air and on cable. For instance,
The Shalom World (www.shalomworld.org). I
know, I know, you knew that before me, but this
is new to me.
The Shalom Media Ministry is an environment
with Catholic programs, documentaries,
interviews, speakers, homilies, music concerts,
even they organize spiritual revivals (vitamins
to revitalize your faith).
, on Apr
22nd - Apr 24th. It is held at LA QUINTA INN &
SUITES CORAL SPRINGS UNIVERSITY
DRIVE, in
FL. This is a
three-day residential retreat starting on Friday
April 22nd, 2016 at 8:30AM to Sunday April
24th, 2016 at 3:30 PM.
Registration Fee of $250 per person includes
room and board for all three days. Here is a
revival to rejoice in your faith.
Fr. Juan
The Shalom World (www.shalomworld.org).
Ya sé, ya sé, que tú sabes eso antes que yo.
Pero ha sido una novedad para mí.
The Shalom Media Ministry es un ambiente
Católico
de
programas,
documentales,
entrevistas, comentaristas, homilías, conciertos
musicales, incluso ellos organizan encuentros
espirituales (vitaminas para revigorizar la fe).

REDEMPTION
Do you remember Peter on the night Jesus was
arrested? He claimed he had never heard of Jesus. Today
we are called to join Peter in testifying to the name of
Jesus as he does in the first reading, and in proclaiming
our love for him as Peter does in the Gospel passage. The
powerful imagery of John’s vision in the second reading
from the book of Revelation shows us the company we
keep when we have faith in the name of Jesus. We join all
living creatures, “countless in number” from “heaven,
earth, under the earth, in the sea; everything in the
universe” (Revelation 5:11, 13). The dignity and majesty
described in each reading are in stark contrast to the dark
and pitiful image of Peter and the other apostles at the
time of Jesus’ arrest, trial, and crucifixion. What a relief
that we can all be redeemed so completely!

TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION
From the earliest centuries, we know that some Christian women desired to vow themselves to a celibate life to
pray and serve. Some, but by no means everyone, wanted a kind of monastic life. Others wanted to stay in the
family home. By the fourth century, the church was celebrating the “Consecration of Virgins,” a rite performed by
the bishop, and involving a “veiling” of the woman. It was looked upon as a form of marriage with Christ, partly
because in the culture of the day a woman’s status in society was linked to a man. The prayers and ritual for the
consecration of virgins were exactly the same as the prayers and ritual for the consecration of a bride on her
wedding day. The public character of the rite gave the bishop the opportunity to commend the virgin to the faithful,
and to threaten with punishment anyone who tried to turn her from her commitment. Eventually, the rite fell into
disuse for women living in the world, and was reserved for nuns. The Second Vatican Council directed that it be
revived and restored, and in nearly every diocese, single women have embraced this form of consecrated life.

amigos y parientes alguna estampita religiosa.

Hoy
crucificado. ¡Qué alivio que todos podemos ser tan
totalmente redimidos!

Bullying Part II
Excerpt from Virtus bulletin by Deacon Anthony P. Rizzuto, PhD
So…what can we do to keep our children safe?
Encourage young people to talk about bullying. Assure them you will listen and take action
if they come to you.
Look for signs that children and young people are being bullied, such as requests to stay
home from school, unexplained mild illnesses, and problems sleeping.
Advocate for clear policies about bullying in School settings and for bullying prevention to
be addressed in the classroom.
Empower young people to speak up when they see someone being bullied by saying
something like, “You know what, I don’t think that’s funny,” and walking away. This
changes the dynamic by depriving the one who bullies of an audience.
If you are concerned about bullying in a school setting, talk to the principal.
April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. The Archdiocese of Miami runs one of the most robust awareness and
prevention programs in the country. For more information contact the Safe Environment Office at 305-762-1250.
