Father John Dearhammer Please invite your friends and family to Family Fest. You can find an ad here in the bulletin for more information. It is always a lot of fun for everyone. If you wish to volunteer for a little while during the Fest, your help would be very much appreciated. Just let us know if you are able to help and we will make sure you get a call. Thanks and see you at Family Fest. Mark your calendars. On Wednesday, July 13, we are going to sponsor an evening, addressing a very uncomfortable subject – death and preparation for it. Recently at a meeting of the Schaumburg/Hoffman Estates Clergy Association, we discussed some end of life issues. We realized that we and many others do not know very important information about procedures to be followed at the end of life, such as DNRs and funeral planning. So, on July 13 at 7:00pm, Deacon Wayne Beyer will come and speak to us about establishing Do Not Resuscitate orders and how to make sure they are not violated. Did you know that if you have a DNR on someone and then call the paramedics for that person and do not have the DNR paper in your hand, the paramedics are obligated to start CPR? I did not know that. Wayne will speak from 7:00 to 7:30 and then allow for questions. Then at 7:45, a representative from Ahlgrim Funeral Home will be with us to talk about advance funeral planning. This is a very important issue now so that the wishes of the Deceased are known by the family, limiting family conflict. I hope you will attend this informative evening. Songs for the 5 p.m., 8 a.m., & 10 a.m. Gathering Song: Sing of the Lord’s Goodness Sing of the Lord’s goodness, Father of all wisdom, Come to him and bless his name. Mercy he has shown us, his love is for ever, Faithful to the end of days. Come, then, all you nations, sing of your Lord’s goodness, Melodies of praise and thanks to God. Ring out the Lord’s glory, praise him with your music, Worship him and bless his name. Power he has wielded, honor is his garment, Risen from the snares of death. His word he has spoken, one bread he has broken, New life he now gives to all. Text & Tune: Ernest Sands, b. 1949, © 1981; acc. by Paul Inwood, b. 1947, © 1986 Published by OCP Publications. Psalm Response: I will praise you, Lord, I will praise you, Lord, for you have rescued me. You have rescued me.” Yahweh, I praise you, God of my refuge, see how my foes are struck dumb and amazed! When death was my doom you shattered my tomb, your love drew me clear of the grasp of the grave. Yahweh, we sing to you; Mother, we cling to you. See how your anger dissolves like a cloud! Though I may weep as I drift off to sleep, with morning’s first light I am singing aloud. Yahweh came near me with mercy to hear me, with loving compassion her child to defend. My mourning has fled, and dancing in stead, I thank you for ever, my Maker and friend. Music by Gary Daigle, Metrical paraphrase by Rory Cooney, © 1990 by GIA Publications, Inc. International Copyright Secured All Rights Reserved Presentation Song: You Are Mine I will come to you in the silence, I will lift you from all your fear. You will hear my voice, I claim you as my choice, Be still and know I am here. I am hope for all who are hopeless, I am eyes for all who long to see. In the shadows of the night, I will be your light, Come and rest in me. Do not be afraid, I am with you. I have called you each by name. Come and follow me, I will bring you home; I love you and you are mine. I am strength for all the despairing, Healing for the ones who dwell in shame. All the blind will see, the lame will all run free, And all will know my name. 3 Text & Tune: David Haas, b. 1957, © 1991, GIA Publications, Inc. Communion Song: Eye Has Not Seen Eye has not seen, ear has not heard What God has ready for those who love him; Spirit of love, come, give us the mind of Jesus, Teach us the wisdom of God. When pain and sorrow weigh us down, be near to us, O Lord, Forgive the weakness of our faith, And bear us up within your peaceful word. Our lives are but a single breath, we flower and we fade, Yet all our days are in your hands, So we return in love what love has made. To those who see with eyes of faith, the Lord is ever near, Reflected in the faces of all the poor and lowly of the world. We sing a myst’ry from the past in halls where saints have trod, yet ever new the music rings to Jesus, Living Song of God. Text: 1 Corinthians 2: 9-10; Marty Haugen, b. 1950 Tune: Marty Haugen, b. 1950 © 1982, GIA Publications, Inc. Closing Song: Glory and Praise to Our God Glory and praise to our God, who alone gives light to our days. Many are the blessings he bears to those who trust in his ways. We, the daughters and sons of him who built the valleys and plains, Praise the wonders our God has done in ev‘ry heart that sings. Ev’ry moment of ev’ry day our God is waiting to save, Always ready to seek the lost, to answer those who pray. I believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; Through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation, he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit, was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance of the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his Kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son he is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins And I look forward to the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.
