Flood Protection Project
Pre-project home inspection
The Santa Clara Valley Water District, in
partnership with the USDA Natural Resources
Conservation Service (NRCS) and the
California Department of Water Resources,
will be starting the next phase of the much
anticipated Lower Silver Creek Flood
Protection Project.
The Santa Clara Valley Water District would
like to meet with selected creekside home
owners to document the existing conditions
of the homes closest to planned excavation
work. The water district is offering a free
inspection/survey of creekside homes prior
to the beginning of major work.
These inspections will provide valuable
documentation to the homeowner and
the district, in case damage occurs.
A representative from Higher Contrast, Co., the
water district sub-contractor, will photograph and
video the interiors and exteriors of those homes
that choose to participate. Please complete the
enclosed form or phone us to let us know if
you would like your home to be included in the
voluntary inspection.

Inspection information and images will not be
shared with any other agencies or companies.
Residents will be furnished copies of the
inspections upon request.
Water district staff and contractors will be documenting existing
conditions with video inspections as seen in this photo from an
earlier project.
Representatives from our sub-contractor, Higher
Contrast, Co. will also be going door-to-door
or calling residents who send in the inspection
request. Interior surveys will be completed by
appointment.
Construction activities
Flood wall construction and excavation work will
occur from Capitol Expressway through Story Road
during the 2012 construction season. Work will
begin in summer of 2012 and is expected to be
complete by December 2013. Construction hours
are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.,
and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Construction work
is not expected on Sundays. Typical construction
noise can be expected during work hours. For the
safety of all neighbors, we ask residents not to enter
the construction site for the duration of this project.

El Distrito de Aguas del Valle de Santa Clara,
en asociación con el Servicio de Conservación
de Recursos Naturales (Natural Resources
Conservation Service, NRCS) del USDA, está
próximo a dar inicio a las muy anticipadas obras
del Proyecto de Protección contra Inundaciones de
la Parte Baja de Silver Creek.
El Distrito de Aguas del Valle de Santa Clara
desea reunirse con algunos propietarios de
viviendas ubicadas en la ribera del arroyo a
fin de documentar las condiciones actuales de
los hogares que se encuentran más próximos
a las obras de excavación. El distrito de aguas
ofrece una inspección/reconocimiento gratuito de
los hogares ubicados en la ribera del arroyo antes
del inicio de las obras de mayor magnitud. Estas
inspecciones podrán proporcionarle al propietario
de la vivienda y al distrito de aguas una valiosa
documentación en caso de que ocurra algún daño.
Un representante de Higher Contrast Co., el
subcontratista del distrito de aguas, se encargará de
fotografiar y videograbar el interior y el exterior de
los hogares que decidan participar.

Actividades de construcción
La construcción de paredes para el control de
inundaciones y trabajos de excavación se producirá
a partir de Capitol Expressway a través de Story
Road durante la temporada de construcción 2012.
Las obras de construcción empezarán durante el
verano de 2012 y se espera que habrán concluido
para el mes de diciembre de 2013. Los horarios de
trabajo serán de lunes a viernes, de 8 a.m. a 5 p.m.,
y los sábados de 9 a.m. a 5 p.m.
No se anticipa que será necesario trabajar los
domingos. Durante las horas de trabajo se producirá
el ruido habitual de las obras de construcción. Para
garantizar la seguridad de todos los vecinos, les
pedimos a los residentes que no ingresen al sitio de
trabajo mientras duren las obras de este proyecto.
La información y las imágenes obtenidas durante la
inspección no serán compartidas con ninguna otra
agencia o compañía. Los residentes recibirán una
copia de las inspecciones bajo solicitud previa.
