For proper use, see supervisor, User Instructions, or contact the manufacturer. Compliant fall protection and emergency rescue systems help prevent serious injury during fall arrest. Users and purchasers of this equipment must read and understand the User Instructions provided for correct use and care of this product. All users of this equipment must understand the instructions, operation, limitations and consequences of improper use of this equipment and be properly trained prior to use per OSHA 29 CFR 1910.66 and 1926.503 or applicable local standards. Misuse or failure to follow warnings and instructions may result in serious personal injury or death. PURPOSE The A460000 is an anchorage connector designed to function as an interface between the anchorage and a fall protection, work positioning, rope access, or rescue system for the purpose of coupling the system to the anchorage. Any references to “anchorage connector” in this manual include, and apply to, the A460000. USE INSTRUCTIONS 1. A user must be of sound mind and body to properly and safely use this equipment in normal and emergency situations. Users must have a physician ensure they are clear of any medical conditions that may affect the proper and safe use of this equipment in normal and emergency situations. 2. Before using a personal fall arrest system, user must be trained in accordance with the requirements of OSHA 29 CFR 1910.66 in the safe use of the system and its components. 3. Use only with ANSI/OSHA compliant personal fall arrest or restraint systems. The anchorage must have the strength capable of supporting a static load, applied in the directions permitted by the system, of at least 5,000-lbf (22 kN) in the absence of certification. 4. The user shall be equipped with a means of limiting the maximum dynamic forces exerted on the user during the arrest of a fall to a maximum of 1350-lbf (6 kN). 5. Use of this product must be approved by an Engineer or other qualified person to be compatible with any and all structural & operational characteristics of the selected installation location and system to be connected to this anchorage connector. 6. The anchorage connector must be inspected prior to each use for wear, damage, and other deterioration. If defective components are found the anchorage connector must be immediately removed from service in accordance with the requirements of OSHA 29 CFR 1910.66 and 1926.502. 7. The anchorage connector should be positioned in such a way that minimizes the potential for falls and the potential fall distance during use. The complete fall protection system must be planned (including all components, calculating fall clearance, and swing fall) before using. 8. A rescue plan, and the means at hand to implement it, must be in place that provides the prompt rescue of users in the event of a fall, or assures that users are able to rescue themselves. 9. After a fall occurs the anchorage connector must be removed from service and destroyed immediately. USE LIMITATIONS: The anchorage connector shall not be used outside its limitations, or for any purpose other than that for which it is intended. 1. The anchorage connector is designed for single user, with a capacity up to 310 lbs (140 kg) including clothing, tools, etc. 2. The anchorage connector may be pulled in any direction shown in the LOADING CONDITIONS DIAGRAM. 3. The anchorage connector is designed to be used in temperatures ranging from -40ºF to +130ºF (-40°C to +54°C). 4. Do not expose the anchorage connector to chemicals or harsh solutions which may have a harmful effect. 5. Do not alter or modify this product in anyway. 6. Caution must be taken when using any component of a fall protection, work positioning, rope access, or rescue system near moving machinery, electrical hazards, sharp edges, or abrasive surfaces, as contact may cause equipment failure, personal injury, or death. 7. Do not use/install equipment without proper training by a “competent person” as defined by OSHA 29 CFR 1926.32(f ). 8. Do not remove the labeling from this product. 9. Additional requirements and limitations may apply depending on anchorage type and fastening option utilized for installation. All placements must be approved by an engineer or other qualified person. 10. This anchorage connector should not be used as part of a horizontal lifeline system that has not been designed and or approved to be used with 5,000-lbf anchorage connectors. 11. The anchorage connector should only be used for personal fall protection and not for lifting equipment. COMPATIBILITY LIMITATIONS Anchorage connector must only be coupled to compatible connectors. OSHA 29 CFR 1926.502 prohibits snaphooks from being engaged to certain objects unless two requirements are met: it must be a locking type snaphook, and it must be “designed for” making such a connection. “Designed for” means that the manufacturer of the snaphook specifically designed the snaphook to be used to connect to the equipment listed. The following connections must be avoided, because they can result in rollout* when a nonlocking snaphook is used: • Direct connection of a snaphook to horizontal lifeline. • Two (or more) snaphooks connected to one D-ring. • Two snaphooks connected to each other. • A snaphook connected back on its integral lanyard. • A snaphook connected to a webbing loop or webbing lanyard. • Improper dimensions of the D-ring, rebar, or other connection point in relation to the snaphook dimensions that would allow the snaphook keeper to be depressed by a turning motion of the snaphook. *Rollout: A process by which a snaphook or carabiner unintentionally disengages from another connector or object to which it is coupled. (1.8 m) (in any direction) from the anchorage connector before the shock absorber is activated. The beam anchor must be attached to the I-beam flange facing the user (top flange if above, bottom flange if below, etc.). (see fig: 3-1) 2. Use adjustment nut to fully loosen adjustable paw position. (see fig: 1-A&B) 3. Hook fixed paw on flange of beam and slide the adjustable paw to capture opposite flange. (see fig: 3-1&2 ) 5. Pull back on the adjustable paw to insure the paw is locked in the nearest notch. 6. Use adjustment nut to tighten as much as possible. (see fig: 3-3) If red limit line appears move to the next notch and repeat steps (1-5) (see fig: 2-A&B) 7. Use lever to tighten to final position. (see fig: 3-4) 8. Check that the A460000 is not able to slip or rock on the I beam. * Re-adjust if the A460000 is not firmly locked to beam. SWING FALLS CAN OCCUR WHEN THE WORKER IS NOT DIRECTLY UNDER ANCHOR POINT. * SHOCK ABSORBING DEVICE * REQUIRED ABOVE ANCHOR POINT MAINTENANCE, CLEANING AND STORAGE Cleaning periodically will prolong the life and proper functioning of the product. The frequency of cleaning should be determined by inspection and by severity of the environment. Clean with compressed air and/or a stiff brush using plain water or a mild soap and water solution. Do not use any corrosive chemicals that could damage the product. Wipe all surfaces with a clean dry cloth and hang to dry, or use compressed air. When not in use, store anchorage connectors in a cool, dry, clean environment, out of direct sunlight and free of corrosive or other degrading elements. The inspection must be performed by a qualified person other than the intended user. If severe weather or conditions exist then inspections must be carried out more frequently. All inspection results must be logged in the space provided above. (It is recommended that the anchor device is marked with the date of the next or last inspection.) 1. Make sure all labeling is affixed to the unit. 2. Inspect anchoring system for signs of damage or wear. 3. Make sure the ring is free to swivel and pivot. 4. Insure button engages and disengages properly. 5. Record inspection results in the space provided above. *If any damage that could affect the strength or operation of the device, or unsafe conditions are found, proper disposal is required. Para utilizar un sistema de detención de caídas, el usuario debe estar capacitado de acuerdo con los requisitos de la norma OSHA 29 CFR 1910.66 respecto al uso seguro del sistema y sus componentes. Utilícelo únicamente con sistemas de detención de caídas o de sujeción compatibles con las normas ANSI/OSHA. El anclaje debe tener una resistencia que lo haga capaz de soportar una carga estática, aplicada en las direcciones permitidas por el sistema, de 5000 lbf (22 kN) como mínimo en ausencia de certificación. El usuario estará equipado con un medio de limitación de las fuerzas dinámicas máximas ejercidas sobre él durante la detención de una caída, hasta un máximo de 1350 lbf (6 kN). El uso de este producto debe estar aprobado por un ingeniero, u otra persona calificada, como compatible con todas y cada una de las características estructurales y operacionales de la ubicación de instalación seleccionada y el sistema a conectar a este conector de anclaje. El conector de anclaje debe inspeccionarse antes de cada uso para verificar que no presente desgaste, daños ni otros deterioros. Si se encuentran componentes defectuosos en el conector de anclaje, el mismo se debe retirar de servicio de inmediato, de acuerdo con los requisitos de las normas OSHA 29 CFR 1910.66 y 1926.502. El conector de anclaje debe posicionarse de manera tal que minimice la probabilidad de caídas y la posible distancia de caída durante el uso. El sistema completo de protección contra caídas debe planearse (con inclusión de todos los componentes y cálculo del espacio libre de caída, considerando las caídas tipo columpio) antes del uso. Debe establecerse un plan de rescate, así como los medios disponibles para implementarlo, que proporcione un rescate rápido de los usuarios en caso de caída, o asegure que los usuarios puedan rescatarse por sí mismos. Después de que haya ocurrido una caída, el conector de anclaje debe retirarse de servicio y destruirse de inmediato. LIMITACIONES DE USO: el conector de anclaje no debe utilizarse más allá de sus limitaciones, ni para ningún otro propósito que aquel al que está destinado. 1. No utilice ni instale un equipo sin la debida capacitación a cargo de una ‘persona competente’ según la definición de la norma OSHA 29 CFR 1926.32(f ). 8. No retire las etiquetas de este producto. 9. Pueden aplicar requisitos y limitaciones adicionales, según el tipo de anclaje y la opción de sujeción utilizada para la instalación. LIMITACIONES DE COMPATIBILIDAD El conector de anclaje debe acoplarse únicamente con conectores compatibles. La norma OSHA 29 CFR 1926.502 prohíbe el enganche de mosquetones (ganchos con cierre a resorte) con determinados objetos a menos que se cumplan dos requisitos: que se trate de un mosquetón del tipo enclavador, y que esté ‘diseñado para’ hacer tal conexión. ‘Diseñado para’ significa que el fabricante del mosquetón lo diseñó específicamente para que se utilice en la conexión al equipo indicado. Las conexiones siguientes deben evitarse, porque pueden dar como resultado una apertura accidental (rollout*) si se utiliza un mosquetón no enclavador: • Conexión directa de un mosquetón a una cuerda salvavidas horizontal. • Dos o más mosquetones conectados a un anillo en D. • Dos mosquetones conectados entre sí. • Un mosquetón vuelto a conectar a su cuerda integrada. • Un mosquetón conectado a un lazo tejido o cuerda tejida. • Dimensiones incorrectas del anillo en D, barra de refuerzo u otro punto de conexión en relación con las dimensiones del mosquetón, que podrían permitir que el fijador del mosquetón se desplace hacia abajo a causa de un movimiento de giro del mosquetón. *Rollout: proceso por el que un mosquetón se desengancha accidentalmente de otro conector u objeto al que está acoplado (Norma ANSI Z359.1-2007). El anclaje para vigas debe fijarse al ala de la viga doble T orientada hacia el usuario (ala superior si está arriba, ala inferior si está abajo, etc.). Oprima el botón de bloqueo para deslizar el garfio ajustable a su posición más amplia (vea la Fig. 3-1). 2. Use la tuerca de ajuste para aflojar totalmente el garfio ajustable (vea las Fig. 1-A y B). 3. Enganche el garfio fijo en el ala de la viga y deslice el garfio ajustable para atrapar el ala opuesta (Vea las Fig. 3-1 y 2). 5. Hale el garfio ajustable hacia atrás para asegurar que el garfio esté bloqueado en la muesca siguiente. 6. Use la tuerca de ajuste para apretar tanto como sea posible (vea la Fig. 3-3). Si aparece la línea roja límite, pase a la muesca siguiente y repita los pasos 1 a 5 (vea las Fig. 2-A y B). 7. Mediante la palanca, apriete hasta la posición final (vea la Fig. 3-4). 8. Compruebe que el A460000 no pueda resbalarse ni balancearse sobre la viga doble T. * Si el A460000 no está fijado firmemente a la viga, vuelva a ajustar. La frecuencia de limpieza debe determinarse por inspección y según la severidad del entorno. Limpie con aire comprimido y/o un cepillo duro; utilice agua pura o una solución de agua y jabón suave. No utilice ninguna sustancia química corrosiva que pudiera dañar el producto. Frote todas las superficies con un paño seco limpio; para secar, cuelgue o utilice aire comprimido. Cuando no se usan, almacene los conectores de anclaje en un entorno fresco, seco y limpio, resguardado de la luz solar directa y libre de elementos corrosivos o degradantes. REGISTRO DE INSPECCIÓN Y MANTENIMIENTO NÚMERO DE MODELO: FECHA DE FABRICACIÓN: Fecha Número de Pieza Comentarios Nombre del inspector Inspección: Debe realizarse una inspección periódica oficial, al menos anualmente. La inspección debe realizarla una persona calificada, que no sea el usuario al que está destinado el equipo. Si existen condiciones o climas severos, las inspecciones deben realizarse con mayor frecuencia. Todos los resultados de la inspección deben registrarse en el espacio que se proporciona arriba. (Se recomienda marcar el dispositivo de anclaje con la fecha de la inspección siguiente o última). 1. Asegúrese de que la unidad tenga fijadas todas las etiquetas. 2. Inspeccione el sistema de anclaje para ver si presenta signos de daños o de desgaste. 3. Asegúrese de que el anillo gire y pivote libremente. 4.
