Queenship of Mary
Reina de todo lo creado
In this feast, particularly cherished by the
Popes of modern times, we celebrate Mary as
the Queen of Heaven and Earth.
Pope Pius XII in the Papal Encyclical Ad
Coeli Reginam proposed the traditional doctrine on the Queenship of Mary and established this feast for the Universal Church.
Pope Pius IX said of Mary's queenship:
"Turning her maternal Heart toward us and
dealing with the affair of our salvation, she is
concerned with the whole human race. Constituted by the Lord Queen of Heaven and
earth, and exalted above all choirs of Angels and the
ranks of Saints in Heaven, standing at the right hand of
Her only-begotten Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, she petitions most powerfully with Her maternal prayers, and she
obtains what she seeks."
And Pope Pius XII added the following: "We commend
that on the festival there be renewed the consecration of
the human race to the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed
Virgin Mary. Upon this there is founded a great hope
that there will rejoice in the triumph of religion and in
Christian peace...
...Therefore, let all approach with greater confidence now
than before, to the throne of mercy and grace of our
Queen and Mother to beg help in difficultly, light in
darkness and solace in trouble and sorrow...
. . Whoever, therefore, honours the lady ruler of the Angels and of men - and let no one think themselves exempt from the payment of that tribute of a grateful and
loving soul - let them call upon her as most truly Queen
and as the Queen who brings the blessings of peace, that
She may show us all, after this exile, Jesus, who will be
our enduring peace and joy."

School news...Wednesday, August 21st, begins the first day of school at Holy Family. We ask for your prayers for our
faculty and students as they begin another school year.
A Catholic education is an act of love. It is an act of love that forms the next generation of Catholics in
our faith and tradition; that manifests a parent’s sacrifice and commitment; that results in leaders for our
world who serve like Christ himself. At Catholic schools, our high standards create more than successful
students. They create faithful leaders educated for excellence and sent to serve. What better gift to give
than a Catholic education for your child. (Taken from http://www.dioceseofjoliet.org/cso/default.asp)
There are still openings for the 2013-2014 school year. Call the school office at 630-766-0116 to register or for

Diocesan Employment Resource Center (D.E.R.C.)
The statistics in our diocese on the number of unemployed, underemployed and those who have just given up looking for work
are staggering. The effect that unemployment has on individuals and families is not only financial but also truly a significant challenge to the emotional, psychological and even spiritual wellbeing of our parish families.
While there are a number of successful job club programs in some larger parishes, most parishes and their parishioners still need
help finding employment transition resources. We believed that our unemployed parishioners would benefit if available job opportunities, resources and support services could be publicized across the diocese.
A steering committee consisting of dedicated lay professionals , Deacons and Catholic Charities has been focused on addressing
this need for over a year; and the first evidence of something changing is the appearance of the “Diocesan Employment Resources” link on the navigation bar of the Diocesan website. And now, with the launching of the Joliet Diocesan Employment
Resource Center website www.dioceseofjoliet.org/derc/ the dream of a common source for all parishes and parishioners is
being fulfilled. The site will provide information about individual Parish job club meetings and services, useful articles for parish
bulletins and will list job openings submitted by all parishes. The committee is gathering resource materials, identifying support and transition services and guides, and sourcing helpful articles for the site. “D.E.R.C.” is self-supported and is staffed by
volunteer marketers, web developers and other contributors. This effort is charitable outreach and building community at its
best as we pool our resources (sharing our gifts as we are taught) and use today’s communication
technology to help each other. Together as 120 parishes, large and small, we’re confident that we can make a difference for
many.

ceptable community life. Sunday August 11, 2013 250 Envelopes $4,763.12 Loose Cash $2,154 Children’s $301.50 $7,218.62 Our Goal each Week to cover our expenses is $11,500.
