Tras el histórico récord de rotación radial alcanzado por “No Me Doy Por Vencido” en la voz de Luis Fonsi, su coautor, Claudia Brant vuelve a ser la Compositora del Año SESAC Latina, título que detenta por tercera vez
consecutiva. La canción estuvo 19 semanas en el #1 de la lista Hot Latin Songs y más de 28 semanas en el #1 de
Latin Pop Airplay.
Pero eso no es todo. Porque Claudia también fue #1 en Tropical con "Yo No Sé Perdonarte" (grabada por Víctor
Manuelle), que co-escribió con Noel Schajris (SACM/ SESAC), y #1, otra vez en Latin Pop Airplay, con “Aquí Estoy Yo”,
siguiente sencillo de Fonsi, su co-autor e intérprete, quien la grabó con el afiliado de SESAC Latina Aleks Syntek,
Noel Schajris y David Bisbal.
Como un himno a la fortaleza del espíritu deportivo, “No Me Doy Por Vencido” fue estrenado primero en

Following the historic radio airplay record reached by “No Me Doy Por Vencido,” recorded
by Luis Fonsi, its co-writer, Claudia Brant, is once again SESAC Latina’s Songwriter of the Year, a
title that she holds onto for the third consecutive time. The song was #1 on the Hot Latin Songs
Chart for 19 weeks and #1 on the Latin Pop Airplay Chart for over 28 weeks.
But that’s not all. Claudia was also #1 in Tropical with “Yo No Se Perdonarte” (recorded by
Victor Manuelle),which she co-wrote with Noel Schajris (SACM/SESAC), and #1 once again in
Latin Pop Airplay with “Aquí Estoy Yo,” the follow-up single from Fonsi, its co-writer and performer,who recorded it with

As an anthem to the fortitude of sportsmanship, “No Me Doy Por Vencido” first premiered on television during the
last Olympic Games in Beijing, China, rapidly becoming one of the most performed tracks on radio programming in the
United States, Mexico, Spain, and Latin America.

genres. As we begin a new phase, one of Claudia’s specific goals is to focus on collaborations that will further

The Miami office opened in October of 2007, and its initial mission was to strengthen the
physical presence of the performing rights society in the area, not only in Miami but also for
the entire East Coast, Puerto Rico, and the Caribbean. At that time, we already had
established solid songwriter representation with important affiliates who were residents of the
area. Now it just keeps getting better.
Under the supervision of Kenny Córdova, Associate Director, and Mónica Jordán,
Coordinator, the Miami office established itself as an important phase in the careers of our
affiliated songwriters and publishers, offering one-on-one consultations, personal service and
a place to network with other industry professionals.
Along with the head office of SESAC Latina in Los Angeles and the administrative office in
Nashville, the Miami office nurtures relationships with important industry institutions and events
such as the Latin Grammys, the Miami Chamber of Commerce, Premio Lo Nuestro Awards,
Billboard Latin Music Conference, Multi Music Conference, Puerto Rico Broadcasters
Association and the main sponsor of the Latin Music Digital Summit, dedicated 100% to the
Latin music industry.

afiliados residentes de la zona.

SESAC Latina! Para la música latina y para SESAC este
ha sido un año maravilloso. Y por eso nos sentimos
fascinados de compartir estos éxitos con todos
nuestros afiliados.
Welcome to the latest edition of the SESAC Latina
Magazine! It has been a wonderful year of growth for Latin
music and SESAC Latina as well. We are thrilled to share the
successes with all of our affiliates.
SESAC Latina’s family of affiliates keeps growing! This year,
we welcomed Noel Schajris (SACM) from the most successful
Latin pop duo in America, Sin Bandera; #1 Mexican pop band
Playa Limbo; Colombia’s rock quartet Don Tetto and buzzworthy Puerto Rican bands Habitat and Koala, and recently,
the most prominent male banda artist,Germán Montero. As a
result, we strengthened and solidified our ties with the
international music industry, namely in Mexico and Colombia.
SESAC Latina continues to see incredible success on the
charts. Claudia Brant's "No Me Doy Por Vencido," by Luis Fonsi,
remained #1 on the Hot Latin Songs charts for 19 weeks and
in the top spot on the Latin Pop Airplay charts for over 28
consecutive weeks. Claudia also chalked up another hit on a
song she wrote with Noel Schajris, "Yo No Sé Perdonarte," a #1
Tropical Airplay hit for Victor Manuelle. SESAC’s supergroup
Alacranes Musical's "Dame Tu Amor" topped the Regional
Mexican Airplay charts for 11 consecutive weeks and Diesel's
"Virtual Diva" by Don Omar soared to the #1 position on the
Latin Rhythm Airplay chart. An impressive feat for all our
talented songwriters!
This spring, the first-ever "Latin Music Digital Summit" took
place at the Gibson Showroom in Miami and was the first
digital media annual event dedicated entirely to the Latin
music industry. The informative one-day conference tackled
many pressing issues for the music industry including digital
distribution and the transformation of the music business
during the new digital age and how it specifically pertains to
the Latin marketplace.
We are honored to publish the SESAC Latina magazine to
showcase all the remarkable successes of our Latina
songwriters and music publishers. We are grateful for the
overwhelming support from all of our affiliates and music
industry colleagues and welcome all feedback and ideas.

realizado la conferencia Latin Music Digital Summit en
el Gibson Showroom de Miami, que, en efecto, es el
primer evento de esta naturaleza dedicado
íntegramente a la industria de la música latina. En esta
conferencia se trataron los tópicos más urgentes del
momento, entre ellos la distribución digital, la
transformación del negocio de la música en esta
nueva era digital y de qué manera ésta repercute en
el mercado latino.

Proviene de Sin Bandera, el dúo más importante
de la música Latina, al cual perteneció durante ocho
años. Ahora, en esta etapa de su carrera, Noel
dedica toda su energía a la grabación más

He hails from Sin Bandera, the most important duo
in Latin music, of which he was a member for eight
years. Now, in this phase of his career, Noel has
dedicated all of his energy to the recording of the

The first step to pursue a full-time career in songwriting is to develop
your craft. Writing a song is so much more than putting music to a
bunch of rhyming words. I recommend for you to attend songwriter
workshops, writer nights, open mics or any other songwriting events in
your area. It's also a good idea for you to co-write with other writers.
Co-writing will help you learn the craft and get you noticed.
SESAC is here to pay you royalties when your songs are played live, or
on the radio, TV and digital media. We are unable to pitch the songs
for you. To get the songs recorded, you need the help of a music
publisher. Their main job, among many things, is to license your works
and pitch the songs to artists, ad agencies, and TV/film studios. If you
attend music-related conferences such as the Billboard Latin Music
Conference (www.billboardlatinconference.com) and the Puerto Rico
Int'l Music Business Conference (www.musicbusinesspr.com), you might
meet industry professionals that might be interested in your work. The
secret to get good songs recorded is to network!

According to U.S. Copyright Law, a song is legally protected as
soon as it is fixed into a tangible medium. So if you recorded it
(on a tape, CD, mp3, etc) or if you wrote the lyrics down on a
piece of paper or put it up on your on-line blog, well then it’s
already protected.
However, it is to your best interest to register the song with the
Library of Congress’ Copyright Office. “Copyright protection”
and “copyright registration” are two different things. Registering
the works will put you in a better position if litigation arises over
your copyright. To register a song, you have to submit an application, pay a processing fee and submit copies of your work

Currently, “SESAC” does not stand for anything in particular.
Decades ago it used to mean “Society of European Stage
Authors and Composers.” But that was back in the early days
when the company focused on representing European repertoire only. Once we started to represent American and Latin
American repertoire, the meaning behind those letters was
dropped. So we are simply known as SESAC. We were established in 1930… so we have been in business for over 78 years!
Can you have Omar’s phone number? Uh... no! I’ll tell him you
said hello though.

Décadas atrás significó “Sociedad de Autores y Compositores

Se está 'descubriendo' a sí mismo. 'Naciendo' de nuevo y con
mucho éxito, pero ahora como compositor. Y se lo agradece a sus
amigos, aquellos con quienes co-escribió las seis canciones -de un
total de 11- que vienen en el nuevo álbum de Reik: "Teníamos unas
50 para escoger y 9 fueron del grupo. Fue 'bien padre' para mí,
porque este es mi primer intento como autor".
Jesús is discovering himself, and with much success - but this time
as a composer. And he thanks his friends, those with whom he cowrote six songs – from a total of eleven – that are found on Reik’s new
album: “We had about fifty to choose from, and nine were by the
group. It was really cool for me, because this was my first try as a
songwriter.”

una de sus canciones, que se suma al rápido ascenso de las demás,
entre ellas "Fui", segundo corte promocional de este lanzamiento,

precisely to one of its songs - one that is rapidly rising in popularity.
Another track is “Fui” (“I Was”), the second promotional single of the
release, which, days after its launch, was positioned among the top
spots on the charts. The artist, affiliated with SESAC Latina, admits
that, “until now, I hadn’t systematically proposed to enter into songwriting. The important thing is to create songs when you feel
compelled to. It has to be something that flows. I just discovered
that.”
Sobre el contenido de su obra Jesús Navarro señala que hay
temas que lo ponen muy orgulloso como "Piel De Ciudad", que
escribió en Nueva York "pensando en que sales a caminar, a ver qué
cosa te puede sorprender y sientes que eres una pieza pequeñita
