THE SECOND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
There was a wedding at Cana in Galilee, and the
mother of Jesus was there. Jesus and his disciples
were also invited to the wedding.
When the wine ran short, the mother of Jesus
said to him, " They have no wine."

PRAYER TO ST. MICHAEL
Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle; be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God
rebuke him, we humbly pray: and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all the
evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen

PASTOR’S MESSAGE
I take this first opportunity to thank the
parish of Holy Trinity for all the prayers
and support I have received over these
past four (4) months of health issues.
Thank you all for your care and concern
for me while recuperating from my recent health concerns. I also identify Fr. Oscar for all
his yeoman work and duties in my absence. He has
done and outstanding job! Thank you, Fr. Oscar. As
well, I value the Parish Pastoral Staff and the Faith
Formation Staff for its continued service to the parish
in my being done. It is a pleasure working with you
all. While I am thanking people, I also express my
gratitude and appreciation for all the Christmas greetings and gifts that I received as well. They again are
received with much thanks at my end. Getting back
into the routine may take a bit of time. I am not as
young as I used to be! But I am hopeful and encouraged by my progress to date. Your well-wishes this
past weekend were welcomed with much gratitude
and joy. I ask for your continued prayers and support
as the New Year of 2016 unfolds before us all.

Jan. 25, 26, & 27 Regular Class
Jan. 25, 26, & 27 Parent/Child Sacramental Workshop

There will be no classes on Monday, January 18th,
Tuesday, January 19th, and Wednesday, January 20th

Each week we offer a question for
further reflection by our parishioners.
The encouragement is for everyone
to ponder that question or to dialogue
in your family prayer time, over the particular question.
Begin with prayer and then have someone pose the
question. Listen with respect to those who respond and
close with another short prayer, perhaps the Lord’s
Prayer.
This week’s question is:
Describe a recent “ordinary” event that ended
up having extraordinary meaning for you.
Describa in evento reciente “ordinario” en el cual
termino teniendo un significado extraordinario
para usted.

Upcoming Events...
Feb. 10 - Ash Wednesday (No Class - Wed. Only)
Ash Wednesday (February 10th) marks the
beginning of Lent, a time when Catholics
take 40 days (not including Sundays) before
Easter to prepare themselves. The sign of
ashes has 2 symbolic meanings. First, ashes
are a sign of repentance which was used in the early
Church. Second, ashes remind us that we are all earthly beings who will eventually die. This is not to sadden us, but to
help us refocus our life on the important thing, our eternal
salvation with Christ. The ashes come from burning the
palm branches from the past year’s Palm (Passion) Sunday.
On Ash Wednesday, people over the age 18 and under 60
are called to fast by eating one regular meal and two small
meals, while children are called to abstain from meat.

THE DIVINE MERCY Weekly Message
Today Jesus said to me: I desire that you know more
profoundly the love that burns in My Heart for
souls, and you will understand this when you meditate upon My Passion. Call upon My mercy on
behalf of sinners; I desire their (93) salvation.
When you say this prayer, with a contrite heart
and with faith on behalf of some sinner, I will give
him the grace of conversion. This is the prayer: “O
Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the
Heart of Jesus as a fount of Mercy for us, I trust in
You.”
Mensaje semanal De La DIVINA MISERICORDIA

"Aha" - Process vs. Results in Caregiving
Stephen Ministry training equips all of our Stephen Ministers with an “Aha!” moment - a collective sigh of relief. Over the course of our
training we have learned that we don’t have to
(and indeed can’t) fix whatever problem it is
that our care receiver faces. We realize that when we place our
trust in God, as He has asked, we come to know that He is the
curegiver and we are only the caregivers. This establishment of
roles is what makes Stephen Ministry possible. The concept runs
counter to the strong results-oriented approaches of present-day
society. But in caregiving, the more one pushes for results in
another, the faster and farther they flee. Please continue to pray
for us as we work hard to continue our ministry of Christcentered caregiving. And please pray that those who are in crisis
or suffering have the courage to step forward and ask for help.
If you or someone you know is hurting, find out more about
Stephen Ministry by talking with one of our Stephen Leaders:
Jerry Krimbill, 392-0602 or Pam Hughes, 394-5723
or email Pam at [email protected].
Our Stephen Ministers are there to care!

Handmaids of the Lord
The Altar Guild needs more parishioners to ensure that the Holy Trinity masses and the
Blessed Sacrament Chapel are “pleasing in His eyes”. Help is
needed and the Altar Guild may be your ministry. The Altar
Guild cleans and washes over 90 communion linens every week.
We ensure the Blessed Sacrament Chapel, the main Altar, the
offertory table, and the credence table is dressed with clean linens. Help washing the communion vessels and ensuring the
Sanctuary candle is full during adoration times are other duties.
We have also added the duties of decorating the Church and Altar for liturgical seasons and special Masses. “Do not be afraid”

Reflection ~
Overcoming Fear, Uncertainty & Doubt
Divorce can bring a tremendous amount of suffering
and uncertainty. In a moment, a lifetime of dreams and
plans can be destroyed. It is during these times that it can
feel like you were dropped in a foreign land with no map-in the dark. It can be a very scary feeling! Scripture repeatedly reassures us that God will never abandon us, and that
He has a tremendous plan for us. Try to trust in this, for it
is through trust that a sense of hopefulness will return.
While you may not have a clue as to what God has planned
for you in the future, you can rest assured that it is going to
be better than you can imagine.
Trust wholeheartedly in Yahweh put no faith in your own
perception; acknowledge him in every course you take,
and he will see that your paths are smooth. -Proverbs 3: 5-6
"The Bible is not meant to be placed on a shelf,
but to be in your hands, to read often - every day,
both on your own and together with others.”

Thank you for your donations
To our Angel Tree Project
Next week, we will take up the Collection for the Church in Latin America. In Peru, the 14 villages of Chazuta, in Moyobamba, are all
located away from the city center, with the most remote only accessible by boat. The faithful in these communities do not have access to
catechetical formation, and members often feel separated from the life of the universal Church. Through a grant from the Collection for
the Church in Latin America, the religious congregation of the Missionaries of Jesus was able to provide faith formation, spiritual retreats, and workshops to nearly 250 people. Upon completion, participants were better equipped to help others deepen their faith and answer questions. The program also renewed their sense of commitment to their parishes and created stronger bonds within their own families. Through this program, members of the Chazuta villages felt the love and support of the universal Church. Please support programs
like these and give generously in next week's collection. For more information, please visit www.usccb.org/latin-america.
HABITAT SIGN-UPS HAPPENING NOW!!!
Your opportunity to help with the parish Habitat for Humanity project is here. In person sign-ups are occurring now outside of church following all Masses this weekend (Jan 16/17). Construction will start on Friday
Feb 5th and will continue for seven weeks. Hands on construction volunteers will be needed for every Friday
and Saturday starting on Friday Feb 5th and ending on Saturday Mar 19th. We are also soliciting donations of
snacks and water/Gatorade to keep the workers refreshed. Anyone 14 years of age and older may help with
construction – no experience required. This is a great family project to help your teen complete any community service hours they
may require.
If you have any questions or would like to be part of the organizing committee, please contact Jack Wilder at 210-275-2587.
