II. RESPONSABILIDADES Y TAREAS DEL CARGO
The UC Timber Innovation Center´s mission is to actively link the needs of a very important productive
sector for the country as is the wood, with the capabilities to create value that exist in both UC
(specifically units academic architecture, engineering, construction and design), and other research
centers and universities interested in this topic.
The Assistant Director of Research, aims to support cross promotion inside and outside the university
research activities of the center, supporting the generation of competitive research initiatives, "contract
research" with industry, and support in managing portfolio of projects assigned to the research center,
compliance indicators in such projects, and more specifically in its administration.
Research tasks:
The candidate must have a Bachelor's degree in Sciences, Engineering, or related field Professional
Title to the center. The candidate must have proven experience in having done research. Although not
required, ideally the candidate should possess a PhD or a higher academic degree of Master level (or
higher) that has been exposed to the development of scientific research and technological base, with
particular emphasis on areas of science and / or engineering / technology. While the central focus of the
position offered is the management and administration of the research work of the center, are also
expected that the candidate understands and can explain the issue properly in the external medium.
Depending on availability resulting from the main task of managing the area, the candidate could
participate with a few hours as a research associate in one of the initiatives and so should not
completely abandonned his research focus if is interested.
Added to the above:
 Integration of undergraduate and graduate students of architecture, engineering, construction
and design, to the work of the CIM research and teaching.

Support for the publication of research results.
Coordination of events such as conferences and workshops, for work and transfer it
investigated.
Administration Tasks:





Preparation of annual research budget of CIM
Annual monitoring of the budget for research and monthly financial statements
Measurement and tracking performance indicators in CIM Research
Preparing the meetings and support materials the Academic Council.
Coordination of the activities of financial management of academic projects in conjunction with
the Economics and Management of the respective Departments
Management tasks:




Management of the Applied Research project schedule line 2014 - 2018, according to the UC
CIM Strategic Plan.
Management and coordination of the respective research projects and courses, under his
supervision.
Exploration of new lines of research, enhancing existing ones.
Dissemination of research and teaching projects and support the attraction of new
"stakeholders".
Communication tasks:




Communication of the research and education lines of this industry, its products, processes and
services.
Dissemination of publications CIM.
Participation in events organized by CORMA and similar entities.
Support the maintenance of the CIM website
Communication and Impact of academic and research activities of the Center.
